I arrived at the ER around 8:30 a.m. and, to be fair, the staff from start to finish were kind and…read moreprofessional. Registration and triage were efficient. Nurse Arnold had a great sense of humor and genuinely tried to soften the blow of a long wait. Dr. Lavelle and the rest of the medical team kept me informed as test results came in, which I appreciated. That said, the quality of care after the decision to admit was extremely disappointing. Being left on a hard, outdated gurney for over 10 hours while waiting for a bed is unacceptable. I have worked in hospitals across the Southeast, the Midwest, and now California, and this was by far the worst experience I've had in this regard. What made it worse was the lack of communication. Hospitals use admissions boards and can provide at least an estimated wait time, yet no one offered updates or acknowledged the delay. Being left in the dark for hours isn't just frustrating--it feels dismissive and rude. Now let's talk about Area 3N (CDU). First, kudos to the staff who work there under these conditions. Dani and the noc shift, as well as Tigen and the day shift, were outstanding--professional, compassionate, and genuinely comforting to patients. They deserve recognition for doing the best they can in a very challenging environment. The EGD Team was also excellent. The music in the procedure room was a thoughtful touch--before the first beat of classic rock finished, I was already out. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of this unit is appalling. I checked in at 7:00 p.m., and the first time I saw housekeeping was 2:30 p.m. the following day. Patients are placed in a large shared space, with more than 10 people sharing a single bathroom that was not kept clean overnight. However, serious HIPAA violations occurred in Area 3N. Patients are housed in a large, open shared space with thin partitions. Throughout the night and following day, I could clearly hear full patient names, diagnoses, test results, treatment plans, and physician-patient conversations from surrounding cubicles. Doctors conducted bedside discussions containing protected health information in full earshot of other patients and visitors. I'm tired of hearing "short staffing" used as an explanation. Patients deserve dignity, communication, privacy, basic cleanliness, and a safe environment. The frontline staff are doing their best, but the system fails patients once admission is decided. This is not the level of care the public should be expected to accept.

Thank you Beth and Valarie for kicking off my surgery with nothing but grace and kindness. Every nurse after that continued to provide exceptional support and service. Highly recommend this hospital for first time mamas!
