I just had a colonoscopy with Dr. Delgado and his crew. It was the best procedure I've ever had, and I've had colonoscopies before! Dr. Delgado explains everything and the nurses were just wonderfully kind. I am needle phobic, but Nurse Lorraine made it go painlessly and with such tenderness. I can't say enough about the excellent care I received for this colonoscopy. I am so happy I found Dr. Delgado and his wonderful office staff to get me through this procedure so easily and so painlessly. read more

My husband was in a car accident that resulted in both he and the other driver being taken to the hospital by ambulance. The other driver who was white (and the one who caused the accident) was taken into a private room while my husband was left in a rigid chair in the corner of the hallway. My husband was experiencing back and neck pain but they did not stabilize his neck for almost two hours after his arrival. He was left in the chair the entirety of his visit while experiencing back and neck pain. Not once did they offer him a blanket or water or even update him on what the plan for his future. He was never seen by a physician and the person assigned to him would just randomly walk away. He asked to use the bathroom and she said she would unhook him from the machines but never returned. It was an awful experience I am very disappointed with the quality of care and lack of empathy. read more

Nurses and staff in the ER were angels! Was in a car accident on the way to work and taken by ambulance to Sutter Amador. I'm so grateful for all who helped from the local Samaritans, to the Police, ambulance and medical staff at Sutter Amador. They saved my life! I'm crying so much because of the kindness shown. I know not everyone has the same experience and I'm aware that not all medical staff are this caring but God sent me angels! I don't get why medical staff are getting abused by the public for saving lives! read more

I was bringing my mom into the emergency room but she is disabled so I needed help to get her out of the car. I told the staff and they said they would send someone my way. But I had the best security guard, Drew. He was so friendly and helpful. He got the wheelchair for me and asked if there was anything else he could do. He also stood by close to make sure help was coming. And continued to check in with us throughout the night. I was stressed and worried, but Drew made the whole process easier on both myself and my mom. The nurses and the ladies at the front desk were beyond wonderful. They checked on us throughout our stay and made sure we had anything we needed. The care was incredible. They are on it and look at all options. And do every test/scan possible to rule anything and everything out. I highly recommend coming here. read more

I witnessed an experience of bad attitudes at the E.R back office . It was day shift and a nurse told my family member when being discharged that "wow you're really whiny " as they were in pain . And the P.A was also questioning me as a caregiver if I was giving the correct medication because I didn't recognize the first name of the medication because it was under a different name on the bottle . And double questioned me if I give their medication. And then when my family member was in the restroom the P.A questioned me about my family's member health history instead of asking the actual patient. Dr jube assaulted me with a punch. He took away my phone so I could not call 911. I was called an asshole by the nurse. After refusing them.taking my blood they did anyways. I gave them some proprietary info about how to fix foot drop with a blanket technology...that's my intellectual property. After being assaulted by Dr jube he continued to work as my Dr during the visit.. I am ashamed and suffering from extreme fear for my personal life and that of my family. They took x rays that they didn't need and then they did not offer me any protection for my vital organs.. the employees seems like they were on drugs.. tweeking or something. The nurse was highly unprofessional and lied about the care she was giving trying to take blood first . Theyleft me outside with no call button. I would rather have a monkey as a physician rather than ever step foot in this ER ever again. Absolutely horrible. I was stuck in a room with an IV in my arm because I had bloodwork done earlier in the day and the doctor who ordered the bloodwork called me and said that I need to get to the ER as my electrolytes were dangerously low, they insisted on repeating the bloodwork even though I had it done at that hospital the same day. They just left the IV with no fluids in my arm for 4 hours and finally my husband who is not a confrontational person got up and went to the desk and asked if they forgot about me. I was given a potassium pill and some Tylenol and released. The bill for that was over $9,000. They didn't do anything for me. Don't go here! I will drive a little farther and go to Mark Twain or Lodi. read more

Visiting family - long story short Husband was having a stroke! Threw him in the car - on my drive called the ER told them our names and the situation- she took our info over the phone - gave me great directions to the Emergency Room doors - parked in front of the door and within seconds a stroke team was at my car door - they whisked my husband into the hospital- arm band and lab stickers ready and waiting- they called a stroke and told me to leave my car and follow them - THEy ARE STROKE ACCREDITED! God is good- my husband spent two days in patient- with amazing care from the hospitalist to neurologist- nursing team - PT OT and Speech! We received wonderful care and great follow up notes for our medical team at home! Could not have asked for better care! Even the food was great! read more

I came in having an extremely bad reaction to shrimp was in anaphylactic shock thought I was going to die but they got me in right away gave me meds and monitored me for a few hours. The ER here is absolutely horrible. The receptionist are very rude and unprofessional, my boyfriend and I went to the ER for the same reason (Walking pneumonia or Bronchitis) as we've both been very sick the last few days. We were both treated very differently. All of our symptoms were shrugged off and narrowed down to Allergies and an Asthma attack, and improper use of an inhaler spacer (it was absolutely not, we'd already had a second opinion) the care we received while we were there was horrible, from a 4 hour wait to be even acknowledged, to another 3 hours of: chest x-rays, 4 vials of blood, being stuck in the hand once, the arm 3 times because they "couldnt find a vain," (I had to ask for something to clean my bleeding holes as i was left by the RNs to go take care of an angry patient who also was waiting "to long") when it was very obvious there was a lack of training or staffing. We wasted out time coming here to basically be told that the illnesses were all in our head and not as serious as they actually are. I will personally never be back to this ER read more

Thank God (literally) for such a great hospital. ER staff are awesome and they have plenty of staff so I am never alone. They explain things well and being autistic they always allow one person be it my son or a trusted friend to be with me. We make a point of writing everyone's name who cares for me, down so we can give positive feedback as well as send thank you notes. And when I have had to drive myself to the ER, and am admitted they always move my car to an area where I can see it from my hospital room, and let security know I am a patient and that the car is mine. The ER was one of the worst hospital experiences of my life a few weeks ago. My 3 year old had to go in for stitches which in itself was traumatic. We were treated so poorly as soon as we declined the sedative they wanted to give her. It seemed completely dangerous and unnecessary for a few stitches to give me 28lb toddler hard drugs. From the second we declined we felt a shift in care, like it was so inconvenient to have to stitch a fully conscious child. She did amazing after hours of waiting and watching all the ER doctors just hang out at desks all afternoon laughing together and doing very little. If I can avoid it I'll never go back here. I had to go to the Emergency Room recently and based on the staff was pleased how quickly I was admitted and seen. Luckily it wasn't anything critical and was out of their in about 10 minutes...no tests needed but also had a quick facetime with a doctor (a bit odd). That was ok but then come the charges. not only do you get raked over the coals for a 10 min facilty charge but then the second surprise came when US Acute Care, who apparently supplies some doctors at the facility sent a bill for $1000 with no explanation. I have tried 3 times to get more information given there were no tests and I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. Absolutely appalling. Then I needed an MRI for something else...I couldn't even get that department to coordinate with my doctor's office and insurance. I gave up and tried Sutter Stockton. I asked how much that was going to be and my out of pocket was going to be $1600. I bailed on that and went to Stockton Diagnostic where it was under $400. I'm not sure what Sutter Health is thinking when they inflate their prices. Please do your homework when dealing with this facility... I won't be back. I'll make the trip to Lodi instea. read more

Absolute garbage. We arrived at midnight with our 10 year who had a very painful UTI. Luckily she was able to pee right away and we waited for lab results. Over an hour later the charge nurse comes in and says the sample was not able to be used because it leaked. She light heartedly says that they just need a tiny bit more pee. People with UTI cannot pee on demand! But sure let's wait another hour until she has to pee again. Meanwhile there is an incoming storm and the roads are getting worse by the second. But sure have us wait here for even longer. Then when I ask who is responsible there extremely unprofessional lab tech comes in to blame the leak on us. One problem, I work in healthcare taking samples. I know how to secure a sample and that sample was completely fine when it left the room. At this point I'm ready to make a formal complaint with hospital administration. But their nursing supervisor Jason refused to give us her name. As did the front desk, and the charge nurse. I cannot begin to describe how unprofessional most of the staff is. They had the nerve to call security on me for being upset with their utter negligence and failure to do their jobs. They better hope nothing happens to us on our way home. I truly hope they enjoy their visit from Joint Commission. Update: When Jason entered the room he shook my hand and ignored my husband's attempt to do the same. I can only assume it was due to my husbands race that he behaved that way. He was extremely narcissistic and misogynistic and pretended to flinch when I went to throw my tissue away. He refused to give us the correct contact information for the Quality Control dept. Instead he gave me a generic number with his superiors name and another hotline to leave a message. To say that he did nothing but escalate the situation is an understatement. He was told to just leave while we continued waiting for the second round of testing. He came back in and accused me of threatening the staff. When my husband asked him what specific threat was made he could not answer the question. Stating that I am reporting this behavior isn't a threat, it's a fact. It was clear he was trying to push me to do something that would warrant having me removed. I refused to indulge his ridiculous behavior and shooed him out of the room. His ego had a major issue with that. I'm still trying to figure out how this person is a supervisor of anything. Let alone something related to Quality of Care in a hospital. I'm still waiting for the name of the lab technician to make my formal written complaint to Sutter corporate. read more

My adult son and I went there for his breathing problems the night before Christmas Eve 2021 ER was fabulous they diagnosed him with pneumonia Covid although he had already had his shots he has other health issues which left him vulnerable and his immune system. So they admitted him into the hospital that's where the nightmare begins don't ever let any of your family be admitted without you being able to check in on them personally... I did check on him every night and every morning with the outgoing nurse and the incoming nurse it seems like they are negligent they say he was fidgety so they put him in a restraining jacket and restrained his wrists they did not take him out of bed for seven days except one time to put him in some tepid water other than that he was on his back and he could not even cough up anything out of his lungs. He was on IVs the whole time he was not getting any food although they say the IVs will be OK he continue to lose weight the fact that they said he was fidgety they gave him Ativan Because he was "fidgety. Because he was losing weight the doctor wanted to put him on a feeding tube And he told the nurses not to give him Ativan because he needed to talk to the patient the next morning to get his approval to install the feeding tube. I asked the nurses each time I talk to them morning and night if they could read me the doctors notes and never was anyone called to take him out of the bed and sitting in a chair even he was to remain in bed the whole time on his back I am just thoroughly disgusted with this type of treatment. My son eventually was given the phone by one of the nurses and he told me in his muffled voice from the having the Ativan get me out of here so I arrange for his release from the hospital on New Year's Day at 2 o'clock and they told me they would do that but they would never administer medication for him because he was being against doctors orders released from the hospital but I said well what would you do for him while he said that I ordered that he would be up tomorrow and sitting in a chair I said he can't wait till tomorrow Dr. I already know he's not gonna make it if he doesn't leave here three of their stuff loaded my son in the car and the help of a friend and a walker we were able to get him in the house and he is eating he doesn't need the feeding tube he is traumatized by this whole experience he will never step foot in that hospital again I called the hospital administrator the day after I picked him up and she took the report and said she would investigate and call me back... I plan on following this up with more detailed explanation of what I know and how they administer Ativan on a daily nightly basis to their patients to keep them down and quiet and sleeping the whole time this is not a good idea when someone has Covid pneumonia and if i would not have taken him out of there he would've died in ICU this was told to me by staff. Through all of this Covid it makes me wonder how hospital staff treated people who died from Covid because they were not taken out of their beds to set up or cough up anything from their pneumonia please don't let your family die in this place it is a terrible terrible shame to have to report all of this to you but it is what you must pay attention to if you can't stay there with Your loved one please take him home.... Never think that this hospital can care for your loved one better than you can... At this point my son has gained 10 pounds and is improving each day. At home. read more

This place is a joke of a hospital. The staff at this place are clearly incompetent. I was forced by administrators to wear a paper mask I am highly allergic to, even though I have a perfectly clean and sanitary mask of my own. I am angry that an actual hospital would break the HIPPA law having me explain in public why I could not wear their mask. I have documented paperwork from my physician, but did not feel the need to share it. One star is too high even for this place. Insult added to injury, definitely won't be coming back. Nurse Jill from the Er department is amazing!!! They need more like her in this world!!

I've been to this hospital ER for children, my parents, a friend, my spouse and myself. I've had mixed experiences like with any business. However, overall I've been very impressed with the ER doctors. Now, this doesn't mean someone else could have the same experience. For a visit to get flu tested I felt the females testing us was rude, inpatient, and I know for a fact she did testing incorrectly. (I have science background and my father has worked in a hospital for 30 years that I've gotten to help and volunteer) when I questioned the doctor doing the testing she redid them and was irritated. I think she was angry I caught her mistake. Next, I came in for two bleeding ears. After a week of severe pain and blood pouring out of my ears I came in. At the time I took extra pain medication because I felt like I was going to die but didn't want a large ER bill due to insurance issues. When I came in I was honest that I had taken additional pain medication and when it didn't help I had to come in because I couldn't cope with the pain anymore. They found major infection and gave me stronger pain medication yet the doctor wrote in my file about me taking additional meds and did something to insinuate I may have an issue. My regular doctor saw it and told me what she read in code language that a laymen wouldn't understand. She added a note to it that it was inaccurate and I was not what this doctor said I was that met me for 15 minutes while my normal doctor saw me for a decade and knew I wasn't a problem patient. Next, I came in for my daughter having a fish hook and the staff was warm, welcoming, friendly, and nurturing. They removed the fish hook and treated her quickly. They managed her pain and it was so wonderful to watch my child get that level of care. On many other occasions my son has come here for a severe flu to allergic reactions to peanuts and wheat. With my son they allowed visitors, made my family welcome, and took extremely good care of him. The ER doctor even counseled me on how to deal with his mounting complicating medical issues. They take extremely good care of young children to teenage years. I've never had a baby here nor have I had surgery or has my family. I've noticed the ER has had really fast wait times but we also only come here once we are really bad. We are extremely grateful and respectful to the staff. They know I'm a concerned Mom and so appreciative for their skills and profession. As a result, I believe they are more helpful and they feel respected like they should. Now, my two really bad experiences. First, there was a heavy set nurse that checked me in when I had the bleeding ears. She literally lectured me about not having medical insurance for twenty minutes. I had bleeding ears, I was terribly sick, in massive pain and needing treatment. Plus I could barely hear and this nurse was telling me that I should have seen my primary care doctor during the day instead of waiting until late to come in. She accused me of picking the ER because of my insurance issues and I still don't understand what she was trying to accuse me of. I explained to her I did everything possible to avoid the ER but I had waited too long and my hearing was getting worse and my pain level felt like i had been cut from ear to ear. I was so upset I left the room crying, with a fever, in extreme pain. She was so mean and unprofessional. Thank goodness I never saw her again. On another occasion my daughter came in sick and we had the coolest ER doctor. He was so awesome and helpful. He had matching shoes (the five toe Verbum shoes...I think that's the name) and he really explained everything to us and took amazing care of my daughter. Finally tonight. I brought in a close friend that has been vomiting for days. First, the ER got us in within seconds not minutes. My friend looked like death. He had been throwing up straight for five days. He was obviously very sick. The doctor came in, asked questions in a calm manner, very thoroughly, and he immediately started ordering tests. Within an hour my friends pain level was down and he was getting hydrated. The staff was very patient and dealt with my interjections well. I have opinions obviously. Lol. I offered up details but they needed to hear from him. As far as emergency rooms go I feel this is a good one that isn't overly packed. Secondly, I rarely feel like there is political tension among the staff like when I'm at Kaiser. It feels like the staff works together well and they basically like their fellow staff. Without a doubt, no hospital is going to be perfect and even the best staff can have a difficult day and forget to explain things, lose their patience and be short with all the patients they see in a shift. Overall I think this is a great place minus some of the less desirable staff that I haven't seen in years! Our nurse and doctor tonight are Nozomi and Dr Brady and their level of care has been outstanding. read more

The nurse at this hospital insisted I take a prep for my CT when I kept telling her this didn't sound right. After I drank it she came back out looking horrified. I said "you gave that to the wrong patient didn't you"She said "yes I did"It was iodine. I have an under active thyroid. Had it been an over active, she could have killed me. Realized after she didnt verify my name or birthday. She said after my ct "so sorry. Thank you for being understanding. I guess this is a good thing. Reminds me to dot my I's and crossy T's"​I reported this to the hospital. She was horrified. Said a Manger would want to talk to me and would call. No one ever did. The imaging dept is a nightmare to get an appt with, making patients and doctors just through flaming hoops of referal orders they should be able to pull from sutter records. Last night I was in a bicycle accident. It turned out being a compound fracture of my (proximal phalanx) my pinky finger. Anyway the medical staff and Dr. Juby were the absolute BEST I could have ever hoped for!!! They were so friendly, they turned a scary situation to a pleasant stay! Both the cute little Japanese nurse who checked me in and Nurses, Darren and Jason went above and beyond! I give this facility a 5 star rating! I had the unfortunate experience of emergency care after an accident (no choice). The staff was great and the care I received was adequate, so this is no reflection on their wonderful nurses and doctors. However, they lose four stars for their outrageous billing screw-ups, double-billings and arbitrarily deciding to apply cash funds paid towards one procedure to different procedures AFTER billing my insurance for the full amounts. Sutter Health in Amador is also outrageously over-charging their patients and insurance companies. Their billing practices are bordering on and possibly downright criminal. I honestly do not know whether they do this on purpose (over-charging, yes) or if it is incompetence in their billing department, but I would AVOID them, if you can! I have heard they have been in the news and may be under investigation for a number of issues. If you have a choice, please shop out standard procedures, surgery, x-rays, etc. The prices can vary greatly. Hospitals like this are one of the MAIN reasons healthcare insurance has become so outrageously expensive in the U.S. If at all possible, JUST SAY NO and take your business elsewhere. read more

We had the worst experience here that still haunts me till this day. We were camping nearby and went to dinner at a local pizza restaurat. When we were coming out of the restaurant my 4 year old was running and not looking up and went head first into the railing and flew back and smacked her head on the cement. She immediately developed a huge bump and it was bleeding! We immediately drove her to this hospital. At first the Dr seemed tenative but the moment I asked for CT scan his whole attidude changed, he lied and told me that it would be at least a 4 hours wait (we only waited 30 min) he stopped coming in the room to check on us. My daughter stated to fall asleep and I went out to ask someone it it was ok for her to sleep and no one would help me! I finally found the dr and tried asking him but he kept ignoring me and told me to go back in the room. Finally I had to raise my voice to get an answer!! The nurse stopped talking to us! Very odd behavior just because I wanted a CT scan! I mean who wouldn't want one for their child?!? I would never forgive myself if I denied the CT scan and she had internal bleeding or skull damage! I mean what Dr wouldn't recommend getting one? when the results came back he just stood at the door to tells us she's fine and walked away! I didn't get a chance to ask any follow up questions! I hope we never have to visit this hospital again! read more

I was camping out of the area when my daughter bumped her head and created a nice gash. The emergency room staff was prompt , professional, and showed they care. My little one was clearly scared and the nurses, hospital staff, and even the director of the emergency room made her feel at ease. Best ER experience ever! Had my first child here nearly 4 years ago, and it was such a miserable experience that I'm still telling people about it. Without going into details, I can pretty broadly say that no staff there listened to me, I was not consulted nor even informed of care/procedures being performed, and felt like I was meat on a conveyor belt rather than a woman giving birth. I have gone back here under emergency circumstances (my child was injured, I was in a car accident), and the experiences were 'meh' but not awful, but I would not go back for well woman or prenatal care, let alone the birth of any future children. Note to Sutter Amador and its birth staff- and the ER physician whose ineptness nearly cost my 6 day old son his life- show a little compassion and put in a little effort, and maybe not all second time moms would be driving an hour or more to a different office to avoid you. read more

I went into ER late evening for burning my hand and they were able to take care of me very efficiently. The ER was clean and the nurse and doctor were very professional and friendly. They put me at ease, even with my pain. They explained step by step what they were doing. After everything was done, I was able to go home with my fingers wrap up and in a arm brace so that it won't hurt with the blood rushing downward. Toni was the nurse that was very helpful and professional. 5 stars all around. read more
