I know, I know: the lack of fresh seafood doesn't make sense considering the proximity to a vast ocean that we call the Atlantic. Hm. Bistro Tokyo turns that fact on it's head and shows that restos really can serve fantastic quality fish if they want to. We ordered a limited combo that included raw and cooked salmon. Portions are huge and we (male + female) ate happily for $450 including two waters and no appetizers. Which is my next point: you'll pay more than many sushi meals, but prices won't hurt too, too badly. We were getting angry and talking about another restaurant to go to when a couple left the bar, so we jumped up and moved over to the open seating at the cocktail bar. They offered a good selection of cocktails both signature and classic options, though most cocktails were around $300 pesos which surely had to do with the upscale ambiance of this place. My cocktail, the negroni pictured, was delicious as usual but there were a couple things we didn't love about the visit. The entire night I watched the bartender handle ice, garnishes for drinks, glasses, and tasting spoons with his bare hands, and never washed them once in the hour+ we sat at the bar. This was very off-putting to me, seeing the bartender reach into a container of orange slices, pull them out with bare hands, and THEN place them into tweezers before applying to the rim of the glass. THIS IS A GIANT RED FLAG. I liked the ambiance of this place but after our service, the prices, and the bartenders lack of food safety hygiene I absolutely would not be back.
