The food is consistently excellent. Faith ( the owner) just might be the hardest working person that I've ever encountered. She does everything that needs to be done all day every day. In peak season that can lead to some long waits for service and takeout so you need to be patient. In the non summer months the service is as excellent as the food. The food is amazing. Everything is made with quality ingredients, fresh for each order, the presentation is beautiful. It is available for takeout as well as eating there. Service is prompt and do recommend calling in your order for takeout, since it can get quite busy. We have always been more than satisfied with everything we order. It is not very large, more quaint and welcoming. There are booths and tables. Call first if you are going with a party of more than 5 or 6 people. That is my suggestion. Not sure if they hold tables. The owner Faith is amazing at helping you choose what to order if you are unfamiliar with the items. My personal favorites are Appetizers: Haha Maki (crispy veg. She wants everyone to be happy and enjoying her food and service. She works very hard to please and make sure you are satisfied. She has very many loyal customers who are like family to her, remembering all their names. Her theme of the restaurant is "Faith, Family, and Friends." Her memory is astounding! I always love this restaurant and eat here nearly every week. The Sushi here is the best. The Kani salad is awesome. The cooked dishes( fried rice, katasu, tempura, etc) are all delicious. In the summer Faith is very busy and the wait for both sit down and take out is often long, but it is worth the wait. Worst take out service I've ever experienced. People were in line waiting for pickup orders that were an hour late, as was ours. Seemed like part of our order was sitting around for a long time before they finished putting it together. Last thing you want is sushi sitting around in the summer. A bunch of people just gave up and left their orders. Or at least they left. No evidence their orders were there. The folks running this place have zero idea how to run a restaurant. Here in NJ for vacation, assuming that a sushi place by the beach would be pretty decent. I love sushi, will even get grocery store sushi regularly, which is to say I'm not too picky with what I get, so the fact that I was supremely let down by the food is a shock. I usually don't mind when the server takes a while to ask if we're ready to put in our order, since I do like to look at the menu, but it was like at least 15 minutes of not being checked in on at all before a random waitress stepped in and was like "oh, did someone take your order yet?". Like uhhh no haha?? The owner herself seemed to forget about us, which is odd considering the place is very intimate. I could tell our waitress was younger/less experienced, which is fine, but it only exacerbated the entire poor customer service experience. Me and my bf ordered at the same time, albeit one was sushi and one was the teriyaki chicken, but it took almost an hour for his food to come out - which meant I was already done with my sushi for a while! What made it worse was that I actually splurged a bit on one of the more expensive special sushi rolls, but it was nothing to write home about. I've had fresher fish back in Pennsylvania :/. Not enough food to justify the cost either, I was still hungry, which is crazy considering that typically, I'll leave a sushi place being stuffed to the gills, and I got an appetizer too! My bf's order, The Teriyaki chicken was also very underwhelming. The chicken itself was so low quality, the sauce was the only redeemable part of it, with about 3 pieces of broccoli. Genuinely. And these were not big pieces of broccoli! Normally I give a lot of grace to restaurants that are not so nice looking, because it's the food and the customer service that is supposed to truly matter, like I said, I am not picky or ritzy in nature. I draw the line at gross though, ESPECIALLY for a restaurant. There were visible dead bugs in the overhead lights (lights that are very close to eye level). The waitress accidentally gave us a dirty plate to put our appetizers on! It was weirdly quiet, no music playing or anything, which made it more awkward when you're just sitting and waiting for so long. I finished the sushi completely because I was starving from hours of driving, but like I said, I was still hungry. There are many good reviews here, which made me think this restaurant would be a solid experience, but it was anything but. It would not have stung so much if this wasn't so expensive and also while I'm on a vacation and trying to maximize good food and experiences as much as possible. I love Asian food and have really only had good experiences at these kind of restaurants - so maybe skip this one. read more

I haven't been here for probably over 5 years. This visit was for takeout. We ordered the sushi for 2 (E) which came with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura and TNT rolls. And we had an order of pineapple curry fried rice. The curry rice had a ton of flavor. A good amount of shrimp, chicken and pineapple. The TNT roll had smoked salmon and eel, which added some depth. My favorite roll was the shrimp tempura. The order was ready at the time stated. The owner (I believe) was handling the take out orders, dining room tables, and answering the phones but was very pleasant. The place was packed. Everything was good. Ordered Spicy Tuna Roll Shrimp Tempura Roll and Edamame online. Said pick up time 35 minutes, figured that was reasonable. Showed up at around the 30 minute mark to a line outside the door of people waiting to pick up their called in or online orders. Waited in the line for 45 minutes before getting helped. Overall wait time 1 hour and 40 minutes since ordering. The owner was answering the phone, doing the counter service, waiting tables, and packaging the orders. Two young waiters were not allowed to assist on the takeout counter. People were sat, served, and ate before the takeout counter was helped. I know the owner is working her butt off, but it is not asking too much to provide accurate wait times and to not answer the phone to take new orders before helping those who have already ordered . There was no help wanted sign showing need. Just warning you all that the wait times are not correct and to not waste your time. read more

First time visiting Sushi Ocean View, was not disappointed. We dined on Sunday night around 8:30 and the restaurant was full. They have 5 tables and 3 sunken booths. There was also a sushi bar area but that was being used to place takeout orders. Sushi was very good with a great selection, reasonable prices. This little place took us all by surprise...No wait at the shore on a Saturday night, very inexpensive, BYO, quick, and delicious! All around win! We walked in with no reservation and were sat by the owner herself immediately in a cozy booth made to look like we were sitting on the floor in a traditional Japanese setting. We looked over the menu consisting mainly of sushi, including some shore themed special rolls, but also offering main dishes cooked tempura, teriyaki or in a hibachi fashion, soups, and a variety of noodle dishes including udon, soba and Singapore. Our table went with some simple rolls (avocado, California, zucchini tempura), edamame, and 3 of us were able to split the tofu veggie soup made for two. It had very flavorful broth and big hunks of soft tofu, zucchini, carrots, broccoli and mushrooms. We also split the Mei Fei and chose Singapore curry style noodle with shrimp and veggies. The noodles were seasoned very well and the mix ins were given generously. Great flavor in everything and decent sized portions, especially for the price. The crew ordered not one, but two desserts for the table....tempura cheesecake and tempura ice cream. They fell in love with both but favored the cheesecake. I say if you have room, get one to split as it's not something you see everyday. They certainly appreciated this mash up of cuisines. If you want to change it up a bit at the shore, this place should be considered. We were a tad unfamiliar to this particular shore point but it's closest to SIC and Strathmere Beaches.
