It didn't take long for the food to come out, we also ordered a sashimi platter which I didn't take a photo of because we devoured it. The sashimi pieces were nice and fresh which made it very easy to eat. The tempura udon noodles were perfect and delicious. Great for a cold Melbourne's day. It is clearly in direct competition with Shiranui, which is located closer to the main part of the shops, but if you've managed to get a park close to Century City, or if you're after Japanese cuisine impulsively and without booking, you're better off dining at Yokohama. The food is really quite good, if a bit expensive. My preferred dish is beef teriyaki, which is absolutely delicious. It's $27.50, so it isn't outrageous, but I've had equally good beef teriyaki for a bit less than that elsewhere. Maybe it's just my impression that the serving size was a little on the small side for that price. The service is good, with polite waiters and waitresses who are attentive to the customers. The décor is neatly laid out, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I've got terrible hearing, so most places I go, I need to strain to join in conversation with my friends, and even then, I miss half the conversation. This isn't much of a problem at Yokohama Teppanyaki, even when it's busy.
