We hired Susan for our wedding after putting the feelers out with multiple companies. She was the only one that didn't throw a website at me and tell me to "choose from what you see." She replied with a passionate answer and crafted a beautiful menu for us and also gave us her full menu of what she offered. I could tell her heart was in it, so we went with her. Originally, I estimated we'd have 100 guests and she quoted us for that. About a month later (and 4 months out from the wedding) I contacted her to tell her we are expecting about half the original amount and if it was a problem for her, it was basically my way of letting her off the hook so she could seek out a bigger party. But she promised the world and said we'd make it work. She didn't give me a revised quote, and just said not to worry, we will work it out. Okay! Shame on me for taking her word because when we were less than a month out, she sent me the revised quote which was on par with what I was expecting. I reviewed it with my husband that night and the following morning, she said "her assistant" gave me the wrong price and she sent me another revised quote which was about $400 less than the original quote... for half the amount of people!?? I told her that was unacceptable. I knew she was trying to recoup the money she lost from being out of work for personal reasons the previous month. Not fair. So we ended up working out a price that seemed fair for both of us. Okay fine, no problem. We had our venue walk-though, and she was clearly distracted by my handsome husband. Annoying, but understandable. Not professional. At this walkthrough, she explicitly said she and her staff would handle all the things that we were dropping off and that "it was our wedding day, we didn't need to worry about having our guests setting stuff up" (some stuff for the tables, gift bags that were already assembled, just needed to be put on the tables, and a few other things). She was definitely distracted and I don't think she remembered that she promised us she would "handle it all," as the contract stated. I thanked her profusely and said she was saving me so much stress and how much I appreciated it. I am stupid for not getting that exact part in writing because literally THE DAY OF MY WEDDING as I am about to put my dress on and leave from my hotel, I get a call from her saying "I cant set all this up, I have to get in the kitchen." I was absolutely dumbfounded and furious. I was supposed to be at the venue in 20 minutes and as the bride on my wedding day, as I'm already anxious and stressed, I had to start calling my GUESTS to handle this task she said she would handle. I had everything so organized with a printout of where it was going according to the venue layout i had. It was easy to read and would've taken her team less than 10 minutes to do. My husband also told her when he dropped everything off DO NOT CALL MY WIFE about anything. Him and his boys had dropped the things off before they went to get ready (they didn't want to do this running around in their nice clothes so they still had to get ready. During this time, she was following my husband around saying look at this, look at that, look what i did. He told me after the fact, of course. During this time, she could have easily unpacked the things she promised she was going to, but she was chasing him around like a little puppy. I was so disgusted. The food was good, although some of my guests left hungry (EMBARRASSING!). I don't think there was enough food, but she claimed my guests just ate a lot. I was also so disappointed that she did not do the desserts we said we were going to do. I wanted three things: a chocolate mousse shooter, a strawberry shortcake shooter, and cannoli. THAT'S IT. I had these items printed on the brochures for my guests. Well, dessert time came, and she had a variety of different desserts. She had what was on her original menu before we changed it- an assortment of mini desserts, pretty much all of which I did not want. The chocolate mousse was included in the assortment and it was so chemically and sweet, it was unbearable to eat. I also found it extremely rude that she pulled me out of the photobooth as I was with my guests to shove desserts in my face. I mentioned this to her afterward and she defensively said that "any bride would be thrilled to have the owner of the catering company bring her dessert," completely dismissing what I said to her. She made me feel so good in the months leading up to my wedding, but sadly dropped the ball big time when it came to the actual event. I waited a month to post this review because I was SO UPSET in the weeks afterwards, especially since she was rude to my friends. She claims no, but I would trust my friends with my life and if they tell me she acted rude, I believe them over her any day. To conclude- the food she provided was all tasty. Delicious. Susan Kane just catered my wedding for my husband and I on Saturday September 11th. We had a gorgeous wedding outside in Niantic at McCook Park. It is very hard to have an outside wedding these days and having the menu that we really wanted. We had an appetizer wedding which included a lot of high-end appetizers. We had some issues with the rentals that I got from Taylor Rental but Susan and her staff made it work and the food was absolutely amazing. Their staff hustled all day and everyone enjoyed their scrumptious and delectable food!! If you think you can't have an elegant wedding outside, think again. We had everything from tuna, lobster rolls crab cakes pulled chicken, beef sliders, Etc. The charcuterie station was to die for!! You cannot believe the amount of food that we had and the quality. It was my greatest mistake to have hired Susan Kane for my commitment/ wedding ceremony on July 9th 2022. I had been planning this celebration for months. The day was almost perfect: the weather, gorgeous flowers and beautiful music! But I was so frustrated when Susan and her staff who showed up very late! Most unprofessional! My guests arrived at 1pm and had to wait almost a half hour for any food! Her bartender took ice cold beer from my fridge and left it out in the sun, even though they had brought ice. I had splurged on pricy hors d'oeuvres like mini lobster rolls and wagyu beef sliders. Even though I repeatedly asked, I didn't even get a slider! Thee were maybe 35 guests and I had contracted for 50 so there was absolutely no excuse to have run short! The crepes were a cold soggy mess. I had assumed they would be cooked to order and hot! They went mostly uneaten. And the fillings were bottled caramel sauce and a can of whipped cream! If you value great food and service then don't hire Susan Kane! Susan did a great job on our daughters wedding. She worked with us on the menu to ensure the right food and enough and was flexible to work with our suggestions. On the day of the affair she and her staff were efficient, polite and ensured food was available and plentiful without getting in the way and being noticed. The food was served at the correct temperature and tasted great which doesnt happen often at catered affairs (we received numerous compliments). Suzan Kane is terrible and extremely unprofessional. I hired her to cater our wedding and she did not follow through on the agreed contract. She does not return calls, and when we asked here specific questions about the event she replies back that she is "busy". She ordered the wrong food, wrong rentals as well as the wrong colors for the wedding. Part of our contract was food tasting before the wedding, she failed to show up to the tasting twice, and when we asked again she suggested dropping off the food at our house frozen. She does not pay attention to details. Too much talk and no action!!!!!! I will never hire her again. She adds stress to the event, and as a planner and catering service her goal should be to make the event less stressful. She is terrible and extremely unprofessional. Hire Susan before she's all booked. I hired Susan Kane Catering to cater my daughter's wedding at The Pond At Tripple Brook in Blairstown NJ 08/15/2020. Connected with Susan back in January when things were normal. Once the virus hit we were on and off with the wedding, going from 200 guests, then 150 then finally down to 96, with restrictions and guests health concerns. Susan stood by us with ultimate professionalism and sincere concern with my daughter's feelings for her supposedly, one of the best days of her life. Susan's demeanour and calming attitude, not to mention she and her crew travelled two and a half hours from her home kitchen to the venue, made it happen. It was a beautiful day and I knew I did not have to worry about anything, it was in her hands. She created a magnificent menu and the food was delicious, staff extremely professional (masks and aware of their distance) and very accommodative to our guests. We got married this past July in Ridgefield, CT at Lounsbury House. Susan came highly recommended by them. We were blown away at the tasting and signed with her on the spot. My father is a chef and my husband and I love to cook. Great food was at the top of our list and Susan delivered. I really loved my experience with Susan because she was willing to work closely with me in creating the perfect reception for our wedding. Our wedding was a bit different because the guests were comprised of people who were used to a very Korean-style wedding and culture as well as people who were used to a very American-style wedding and culture. Susan was open to changing her approach in order to suit the needs and style of our wedding, while also balancing her desire to make sure that the event was held to a high standard. I valued her feedback and input greatly because there were several decisions she helped us make that made the flow of the reception go smoothly. Also, when I met her staff on the day of the wedding I was so impressed at their professionalism, kindness, and warmth. They worked really hard to set up all the tables and centerpieces the way I envisioned, and they really impressed (and surprised) me with how beautifully they decorated the sweetheart table - especially since my friend had brought a lovely sign for decoration! We just hosted 50 friends for a fancy cocktail party to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. Susan Kane was recommended by some local Easton, CT moms and her services from start to finish exceeded our expectations! She is extremely easy to plan and communicate with. We told her what we were envisioning and she knew exactly how to make that happen. She provided a detailed menu as an example which honestly sounded so delicious that we chose not to make any changes. The staff was a top-notch team of professionals who were extremely well organized and orchestrated a perfect display of tasty bites from appetizers through desserts. In addition to the presentation, the quality of the food was outstanding. It was definitely "wow factor" catering. They left my kitchen in impeccable shape. Susan Kane catered our wedding and she did not have enough food for everyone. When we complained to her, she said she would make us a catered meal and bring it to my husband and me. She never showed up! She tried to charge us extra for our wedding cake that was already included in the signed contract. When we gave her a recommendation on where to have the cake made, she accepted it and ordered our cake. It did not look anything like what i asked for and she never paid the vendor!! She also was more concerned with talking to our guests at the event rather than making sure everything ran smoothly. Her bartender was even in one of my pictures with his middle finger up!! Ok, Im going to be very real with you all right now, to whom ever is deciding on wether to have Susan as your caterer, YOU MUST HAVE HER! When you think of catered food, you think, ehh, its gonna be ok, how good can it actually be? Well, Susan catered my wedding, and she put on one heck of a food display show! Not only was she the kindest human you can possibly meet, everything she made tasted phenomenal! She met with me and my wife, listened to everything we wanted, and them took all of her knowledge about cooking and created some of the best food you could have at a wedding. And, you may think I'm just saying this, just to say this because she catered my wedding, BUT NO! people who attended the wedding were actually shocked and amazed at how delicious the food was! And the best part, was that it was made from her own recipes and it really did feel as if it was a home cooked, fresh meal. My wife and I wanted food that we enjoyed eating, and we didn't want the typical beef/steak, chicken, and a salad type meal. We wanted salads, different fishes, pastas, a cheese table and good breads and Susan really stepped up to plate and created one amazing meal. If you read this, and are trying to figure out who to choose, I get it, the whole process can be challenging. I was recently a bridesmaid at a wedding catered by Susan Kane Catering. The food was okay, but it was buffet style and there weren't any heating trays or anything to keep the food warm, so even though I was part of the first table to go up, the food was already room temperature. The caterers serving the food used the vegetable tongs on the steak to separate pieces, and then continued to use them in the vegetables. The bride was told that during cocktail hour while the wedding party was taking pictures, there would be someone coming around with food/appetizers for us, but that never happened. Once we were off waiting for the reception, a waiter came up with one drink order and one tray of appetizers, but never came back. The bartender seemed very unhappy to be there, and was rude to me and a few other guests. When I asked for a lime for my drink he pushed it down so that half of his finger was in my drink-YUCK! The supervisor who was there dropped a tray of drinks down my back and purse while I was sitting eating dinner at the beginning of the reception. She did apologize and offer to pay to clean my purse and Susan assured me it would be taken care of. However, the cleaners were unable to get the stain out and 3 months later I have still received nothing in terms of compensation. With so many quality caterers in the area to choose from, I would definitely pick someone else! read more

She was every bit as good as we expected, and way beyond what we wanted. We hired her to cater our wedding, and in a previous review, I touched on the fact that she was just warm and caring and on top of our menu. She really did know exactly what to serve, how to serve it, and she was honest with me, too. When I wanted something she said, there is no way for us to make that well. When she came up with better ideas for us, she was honest about that, too. She said "this will be really good and here is why". We trusted her because my groom and I are big foodies, and she seemed to care about food source, high quality, and not cutting corners to increase her profit. She was busy non stop, but did not even let us know it. She always had a smile on her face. All these things are important for the bride and groom as they work on and plan their big day. But what she pulled off that day, which was to actually feed us and the most important people of our lives, on the most important day of our lives, was incredible. A culinary feat. My mouth waters just thinking about the food she made. I have received endless calls and emails about how good my wedding food was. We had three different themed stations, two different desserts, and the cocktail hour was I think 8 different apps, plus a stationary of delicious and fresh veggies prepared a variety of ways. NOT your average crudite station. Did I mention we are foodies? We are not easily pleased, and either our our friend and family (incidentally mostly all foodies also). She also makes the sauces and dressings herself, which seems like an afterthought but it's so important. I still crave those sauces she made for the apps. My groom and I were talking about how we need to throw another party just to eat her food again. If she had a restaurant, I would go there several times a week. Thanks Susan Kane catering. I am a meticulous researcher and spent endless hours emailing just about every single caterer in the tri-state area. I knew that the food was going to be the most important part of my wedding because my fiancé and I like to eat wholesome, good, well-cared for food, and serve the same to our guests whenever we entertain. However, we also happen to be a young, just-starting, home-owning couple and have what is considered to be quite a low budget in the wedding-catering world. About 20 caterers replied saying that they would work within my budget. Susan Kane was one of them. Over a couple of weeks of emailing back and forth, there was something that always drew me back to Susan because she was so warm and responsive and almost more on top of my menu planning than I was! We spoke over our philosophy about food, and it was very clear that to Susan, food was just as important to her as it was to us. Not only did she draft a spectacular menu for us, she also was always readily available with answers, ideas, and suggestions on how to make our wedding menu work for our ideas. She also sent me pictures of a wedding she had recently catered at our venue. It's comforting to know your caterer has worked your venue, because they will know the needs so much better. It was time to set up tastings! She blew us away. She and her chef had prepared in their kitchen, came to our home, and finished off the cooking. I liked this because it's a similar situation as to what would happen on Wedding Day. The food was just INCREDIBLE. We had been to some tastings before, but never got past 3 or 4 samples before we knew we could never serve our loved ones those things. Susan's food was not only good, but it was truly flavorful and creative. Just our style. She set up her serving trays to give us a clear visual on what our stations would look like, and she worked out even more details, odds & ends with us after. She sent a revised menu, and then a revised menu again! The most important thing about Susan isn't that her food is 5-Star, but that she as a person makes you, the couple, feel like 5-Star, too. She was the only caterer who made us feel special and important and focused on being there for us. Something, we found every where else, was reserved for the big-budget Bride and Groom. Susan Kane did my sisters wedding - and let's just say we would NEVER have used her if we had known how bad it was going to be. The food was good, and it looked nice, but she cut corners in order to save money, and because of this there was not near enough food for the guests. She fought with all other staff of the wedding - including owners of the venue and the DJ. She didn't have enough staff, so the BRIDE and the groom were cleaning up plates and glasses before they left for their honeymoon. More than half of the people there didn't even see any food come around - even though they were supposed to be serving appetizers throughout the entire night. She ordered the completely wrong cake - different flavor and different size, to cut corners. She promoted her business with business cards and brochures, that made all the beautiful flowers and decorations look cheesy, and we had to go around throwing them out. On top of it all, she gave us an alcohol amount for us to purchase - we ended up double it, thank god. Even though we doubled the amount she told us to get, we still ran out and had to go get alcohol at 9:00PM during the wedding. Afterwards, she has been emailing and harassing for extra money, the audacity of this is beyond me. Also, she cancelled every meeting we had prior to the wedding and wouldn't meet with me until 2 days before the wedding.... because she had to take other last minute corporate lunches - and I didn't matter because my deposit was already sent.
