I'm rather embarrassed to be the (yelp) Duchess of All Island Yellow aka Valley Stream Taxi. They…read moreare a hot mess! My dealings with them this past month has spurred me to update my review. That and the fact that I don't want to take these horrid feelings into 2016 with me. (Some of) The dispatchers are very very very very unprofessional. They can get very rude to the point of hanging up on you when you call to enquire about cabs you requested 56 mins ago. It's like they drive a horse and carriage while you wait, but turn into too fast too furious as you sit in their cabs ie reckless driving. If you suffer with motion sickness, you definitely need a sea-band to travel even one mile with them! The cabs are smelly with doors that are so hard to properly close, that even their drivers complain that they won't fix anything. The windows don't work any better making it very hot in the summer but freezing in the winter. How do they get their cabs to be as back to front as they are? Now I fully comprehend that during peak hours and holidays cabs may run later than usual but not here! They run late all the time! You never know how to schedule around them because they can be over an hour later after their promised 10/15 min wait. OR....too early and, as you may make your request for a cab and hang up the phone, you hear a honk outside your door. (InTheArea smh) NOW, I wouldn't mind them being early, BUT If they're earlier than promised and heaven forbid you take too long running down some stairs and getting your coat on, they leave your arse right there! Just drive off. Not even waiting a few seconds, you've got to be standing outside like I usually am. My thought is, if you're super busy, why not explain that to us when we call? Honesty is one of the highest forms of respect in my book and they apparently don't respect the business (with tips) I/ we bring them! It's always "cab will be with you 10/15 mins".....MORONS! I'm not working in your office and some days even I know because of the weather your cab may take more than 30 mins to get to me! My gorsh my gorsh! A few of the drivers are TOO forward and there are one or two rude ones. The old man that says absolutely nothing is my favourite. Many of them are very pleasant but most of the dispatchers.....the dispatchers! ...(are) just plain nasty! Elder Caribbean people have a proverb, "de fish does rotten from de head", no matter how nice your workers are, if the head men suck then YOUR CAB COMPANY SUCK! Your duchess sucks! What are you doing to my street cred people!? I cannot recommend you! I'm saddened when I have to depend on this company to get around. If you have a choice PLEASE don't use this company. Like I've said in the past, sometimes they can get it right but that's 1 out of 5 times, just like the rating they're getting from me. Again. One out of five! The End.

There is nothing in the world I loathe as much as Veterans Transportation Company. I hate them…read more Let's go over why, shall we? First, we'll start with service. The Valley Stream Central HS district, to which I belonged from 1999 to 2005, uses this company. We got lost a bajiliion times. Literally. One bajiliion. When I was in 8th grade, I told them how to get to a middle school in Uniondale. I was what, 14? It's a joke. We once had a track meet at the 168th st. Armory in Spanish Harlem. Debacle. DEBACLE. Nowadays, I have a different reason to despise these morons. I live around the corner from them, and, as such, we naturally get alot of their traffic. That doesn't upset me so much, I get it. But the drivers are incredibly, incredibly rude. They park all over the place, squeezing in everywhere, partially blocking driveways. If that isn't infuriating enough, they constantly pick one another up in the buses, so that they don't have to walk the oh, I don't know, quarter mile down the block. I constantly get stuck behind these scumbags as they drive 30 feet, pick someone up, drive 45 feet, drop someone off. Drives me nuts. I've lost it on many a driver. This will conclude my rant. Let's recap: I hate this company. They suck at driving, which is a detriment to a transportation company. They suck suck suck suck suck. Suck.

$30 RT to Atlantic City on a weekday and they give you $30 slots play money + $15 food credit?…read more Hmm, not bad. Hopping on at convenient Borough Hall (Bklyn) at 9:25pm meant we were the 3rd to last pickup -- we snagged 2 of the last 7 seats, but my bf had to sit next to a weird smelly fat man (you can imagine the type) and I was almost trapped next to the bathroom (but was saved by my tricksy maneuvers!). Traffic to the Jersey shore on Independence Day weekend was challenging, but we arrived by 12:30, which is still reasonable (avg is 2.5 hrs). They played bad movies on the way (Fireproof + Obsessed) and the ride itself was otherwise uneventful. For the return trip, the bus arrived exactly at 6:10pm like they told us and I got back to Borough Hall at 8:30pm. PROS: - They advertise clearly online and flyers are available at the newsstands mentioned on their website. - The newsstand guy at Borough Hall was completely knowledgeable about the details, and even called to verify while I was there. (Other guys at the newsstands selling rival bus tickets knew nada.) - Punctuality. - Everyone must sit in the same seats for the return trip (smart move, to avoid cranky passengers whose "better seats" were swiped by earlycomers on the way home, but kinda sucks if you arrived early to snag a better seat like we did -- AND still had to sit next to the smelly fat man). CONS: - Their website isn't updated with the correct pickup times. Check with the newsstand guy who sells you tickets. - If you get on at the first pickup in Queens you have your choice of seats, but have to sit thru 1.5 hrs of meandering thru NYC picking up more passengers. - If you're at the last pickup and there are no more seats, you're sh*t outta luck, even if you already bought your ticket. - I felt like the $15 food credit wasn't a great incentive since I wanted to eat elsewhere but felt like I couldn't "waste" the credit. Plus, the buffet at Tropicana doesn't open til 4pm and the line at the one other eatery where it could be redeemed had massive lines!! - $40 on weekends, but the same promo offers - not worth it. Verdict? Next time I'll head into slightly less convenient Chinatown instead for the $15-20 RT buses (with $20+ play money, but no buffet). One bus company in particular drops you off at Caesars, which is closer to the center of the Boardwalk and the Piers and Outlet shops, and the bus won't make fifty billions stops to pick up passengers before leaving NYC.
