Igor, the owner--a warm, funny Ukrainian ex-pat--welcomed us in like old friends. We stayed for quite a while, sampling beers, laughing, and talking shop. The atmosphere is relaxed, fun, and full of personality.
The beer selection is absolutely wild--easily the most interesting variety we saw in Europe. It reminded me of the curated bottle shops back in California. Igor even had some really cool brews from Spain (who knew Spain had such a scene?), and, to my delight, the only IPAs I came across during our travels.
And yes--there's a restroom, thankfully (because, you know... beer). There's a sign on the door that says "No #2," which made me laugh. When I asked Igor if it was a plumbing issue, he goes, "No, plumbing is fine. But my desk is a meter from the toilet--would you want to deal with that?!" Fair enough!
If you're a beer lover passing through Innsbruck, do yourself a favor and stop by BierWelt Tirol. You'll leave with great brews and even better memories.
5 stars for Igor and his beer shop!
