The layout and selection of items were very similar to what we're used to back home in Chicago. We stopped in for a late afternoon lunch or perhaps an early dinner, but unfortunately, the meal was underwhelming. My husband ordered the ribs, which arrived overcooked and dry. I had the tortellini, which was just okay and only slightly warm. The waiter was friendly. When I…read moregot to my apartment, I realized the cashier, a young lady, had charged me twice for a few items I purchased at the supermarket. I went back to talk to the same cashier, but she was not only unhelpful, she was rude and offended. This market seems understaffed, with long checkout lines, and I'm surprised people still shop here. I will never return to this market due to its dishonesty and poor customer service.

Doing it this way saves a lot of money that can be used for other things on your trip. As we travelled throughout France and Italy we found several of these stores. The presentation was always good, the prices weren't too bad, we were able to find what we were looking for and the stores were clean.

Eataly is quickly becoming an institution, not only in Italy but in few other countries in the…read moreworld (Eataly has a boutique on 5th Av. NYC, sadly no stores in the country where I live, yet). The founder had the brilliant idea to start a chain of supermarkets offering only the best products from all Italian regions (from Piedmont's hazelnuts to Sicilian cactus fruit jams). The quality is the focus and, that's the whole point of Eataly. At Eataly you can also have lunch or dine, and most of the dishes are prepared with top quality ingredients from their selection. It is quite a new experience to have your food inside a supermarket. I was not so impressed by the food they prepare, it's a bit rushed, and simple but after all Eataly is not a restaurant, so fair enough. I'd give 3 stars to the food served at the table and 7 stars to Eataly's concept. That makes a total of 5 stars.
