If you're looking to see Australian wildlife, this park is probably one of the less known local…read moreoptions, but it does have its virtues. It has inherited a conservation function, and some of their animals are rescues that can't survive in the wild or breeding populations. The park isn't all that large, and just wandering around it you'd be done pretty quickly, but they do a daily series of shows, covering a variety of different animals. Their birds of prey (and owls) are quite impressive and will whiz right by you, while their wallabies will cutely prance about. There is an enclosure where you can walk up close to the wallabies and an emu. Seekers of the best known animals will find there is a feeding for the "small" salt water crocodiles and some koalas hanging out in trees (though you can't get close to them). Personally, I was most fascinated by the cassowaries, large, flightless birds with a sort of fur instead of feathers. The shows are enough to keep a group of tourists or kids entertained for most of the day, and the handlers seemed to know what they were doing. The park itself, though, will be the first to admit that it's only an introduction, and the best way to see the wildlife is ultimately to track it down in the wild. They do point that out, while giving the occasional tip to protect travelers from the ever-dangerous creatures (and them from us). At the park here, there is a considerable boardwalk through the wetlands, and you can walk by the creek down to the ocean (all of this is outside of the paid area and it was news to me). The park itself might be worth visiting once, but what's beyond it is what you should come back for again and again.

There are also lifeguards dotted along the beach as well as places to rinse off. The beach is quite clean and the water is warm and clear. There's also flags next to the beach signaling safe places to go swimming and surfing, which I think is a great system! If you're at the Gold Coast, definitely make sure to come check out this area! It's easy to access as the tram goes right to it.

The Cornubia Sports Centre comes as somewhat of a surprise to a lot of first time visitors. The…read moreenormous complex fits four basketball (or netball, or volleyball, or futsal) courts, a gym, a rock climbing wall and a canteen, while outside you'll find two full-sized soccer fields and an awesome children's playground. Although it's probably around ten years old now, the structure is still very modern, clean and feels quite new. They run competitions for numerous sports, and whenever organised competition is not taking place the courts are sure to be used by amateurs perfecting their slam dunks. They also organise activities for kids on school holidays, so if you're about to throw that Xbox controller out the window, you might like to take a look at their program.

The sand is so white and the shaded area has picnic tables for the sun conscious. There are excellent change areas near the grass. Change areas just for changing and then a toilet area with showers. All the a entities are well looked after. This is a very popular area but very safe for young families. There is quite a pull in the river current to be aware of. However the beach area is patrolled by lifeguards and there flags indicating the conditions of the water.

Good shade, seating, good bathroom facilities, right by the beach and the Oasis Shopping Centre, not far from good coffee at No Name Lane and there's even street parking and a grilling area nearby. Heaven for a parent of kids under the age of 6 or 7. Very happy to have discovered this excellent free resource in Broadbeach.

Beautiful nature reserve tucked in Boronia Heights. The picnic area is quite sparse with only a few…read morecovered tables and wood fire BBQs. There is a public toilet and small playground for the kids. Winding away from the sizeable carpark are several paved walking tracks. Stay nice and quiet on your hike and you'll find out why this reserve is so special. Kangaroos, koalas, kookaburras, brightly coloured parrots and lots of other bird life are ever present. I've never visited Boronia Bushland Reserve without coming across the huge mob of kangaroos that live in the area. Sometimes they come right out into the playground area to munch on the grass.

It is a pretty good water park with some good rides and fun little kiddie park.... the lines to go on the rides are ridiculously long and so incredibly slow.... staff don't seem to be that efficient at getting people through.... so would recommend that you go early or don't go during school holidays.... because there's not that many rides and you're competing with so many people... it takes forever to go down one ride. I would recommend that you take your lunches and snacks with you.... food options are limited, expensive and not very nice.... there's lots of junk food but no real healthy options.... and especially if you're vego - there's absolutley nothing here other than chips and cake.... so bring something with you! lockers cost $10 per day... and only take change - so make sure you grab that before you enter the park.. otherwise you have to line up with everyone else getting change and competing to grab locker - which there doesn't seem as though there are enough of them at the park for everyone. The wave pool is great!..... Love the pipeline plunge area with the dumping water bucket - lots of fun... The supertube hydrocoaster seems to be the most popular ride and the line is super long... so get there early and do that one first... Great day out for everyone and definitely one park to make sure that you do while visiting the Gold Coast - highly recommend, but go there early and not during school holidays! :)

There are thrills aplenty…read morewith high speed tubes, slides, funnels and one ride that's pretty much like being sucked down a plughole and dumped into a plunge pool below. I don't really care much for drops and slides though and was happiest in the Cave of Waves ocean wave pool and splashing around with the kids at the Pipeline Plunge, waiting for the big bucket to tip over! Food options are poor (hot dogs and chips) so you might want to bring your own. I don't think it's worth the money for a day pass but if you're planning on going to WhiteWater World/ Dreamworld over several days the multiday passes would be better value at only a few dollars more.
