I am writing about my purchase of a basketball hoop for delivery to CA from their warehouse in PA. A Proformance hoop. I received excellent information from Proformance and from Vito, a salesperson at Superior Play. Highly recommend from that perspective. Where things fell apart was the shipping. I ordered on June 4 and was told it was in stock and ready to ship from their warehouse. It was supposed to arrive within 2 weeks (takes 5-7 days of actual travel time). Shipping time was definitely part of my purchase decision!!! Well, it did not leave their warehouse until June 17!? When I inquired the snappy customer service person told me that a few weeks didn't matter because "I had 15 years to use the hoop". Thanks for your insights but my son is a senior and summer weeks (and totaly weeks!) are limited. Pretty disappointed with the delay and the inconsiderate response. read more

Happened to pass the Berlin, NJ site a few weeks into my search for a swing set. Made a trip back to look at the display units. That's when sticker shock set in. Had no idea after looking on the internet that units could be this expensive that weren't on a city playground. Made the purchase after some deep consideration on price vs. my grandchildrens bottomless energy supply. Opted to have SPS do the installation after a horror story of someone building their own. Needed a string pulled to have the unit in time for the kids party. Day of delivery was a surprise when one guy showed up. I was a bit skeptical but he had a system and a sense of humor and pride in his work. ( Come on, one man on a 4" x 8" x 12' beam. Done. . He also gave me the rundown on the need to refinish the unit. We have visited the Norristown location on multiple occasions just to play for the day and have always had a great time... we recently moved and have a yard large enough for a play system so we knew exactly the place to go... I initially planned to order a larger set but the salesman was able to help me decide the best set for our space and needs, he could have sold me the larger system based on price but his honesty and help made me feel even more confident we were buying from the right company... I was called two weeks after purchase to schedule delivery they were accommodating and worked around my availability... installation was efficient and thoughtful... the guys were super friendly and patient with my chatty 5yo. Spent 3500 on a playet. They installed over a period of 3 weeks. The first person in a span of 2 weeks to get the playset up. He left without installing the tire swings saying the parts were broken. He never returned. After numerous calls and follow up after 3 weeks a support person installed. The playset has full of cracks. When notice during install, they said it was cosmetic. Just 2 months in, the cracks are wider and chipping. The tree rope is about to cut off. Same story call, they ask me to send email to support. 1.5 months no response. The absolutely don't care. For the money you pay, go yourself a favor and stay away from this company. read more

I arranged for sealing and staining services on a playground that Superior Play Systems installed a few years ago and was told it would take 3-4 weeks for someone to come out (that timeline was perfectly fine). After the 4 week mark came and went, I called and they said they had no record of my order, but would put it through right away and have someone out in 2-4 weeks (disappointing, but mistakes like that can happen and I accepted). This was the point where they charged my CC for the order, which at least gave me some assurances that the service was real and in process. 4 weeks later and STILL no service, I called again and they said someone would be out "next Wednesday". Can you guess what happened? OF COURSE nobody showed up. I started calling and emailing Wednesday Thursday and Friday growing more and more frustrated, but couldn't get anybody to give an update or even acknowledge how badly they've screwed up. Today marks 10 weeks from my original call, and I have no idea when it will be done. Hopefully sharing my experience publicly here will either spark some action from SPS to make this right, or warn others away from using their service. Getting service was a chore, too many emails, calls, follow ups, etc. Set up service had multiple changes to the date and weather only played a small part in a 3 or 4 time and date change. I was having a restain done, they call it a sealing. Work was sloppy, areas missed, overspray on hardware, etc. In the end, and hind sight is always 20/20, I would have done a better job myself and problem spent just as much if not less time. Lesson learned. But I will say this, they DO honor their lifetime warranty. Which is great to see these days. read more

If I could have given "zero" stars - I would! Absolutely awful. The equipment is presented beautifully in the store. That is not what you (the customer) receives. The warranties are all bogus. Seems to be some sales babble just to make the sale. They don't actually honor anything and if/when they try to honor a portion of it... they charge an unbelievable amount of money for work that is not done properly. Then, they laugh about it. In other words - stay away from this place. The product is not as described, the service is horrendous, and buyers will not be happy. read more

The service in the showroom was great. The installation services unacceptable. First they show up at almost 7pm to do the install. They finish at some point while I was putting my toddler to bed and leave. When I go out the next morning to bring my kids to school there is cardboard and styrofoam all over my driveway and lawn. Why they didn't take the garbage with them is beyond me, but to make it worse, my garbage cans and recycle can are on my driveway where they could have put the stuff. read more

This company is a joke. My wife has called multiple times to speak with David their delivery and installation "manager." David NEVER answers the phone nor returns messages left for his attention. We had to contact superior play systems multiple times and speak with numerous employees to determine if our swing set was ordered. To this date (over 2 months from purchase) we are still not 100% certain our swing set was ordered. I called today to check status and no one answered; left a message. My wife called a bit later and spoke with someone. Apparently, they sent me emails stating lack of progress, delayed shipping, blah blah blah, I NEVER received these emails. We enjoyed shopping and getting our play system from Superior a year and a half go. Since then the stain has worn off tremendously and I was told a few months ago that it needs to be restained every year. No one ever told us that when we bought it. I had to call about 4 times to finally schedule a date for someone to come out and restain it. It does look beautiful again but it's very frustrating when no one returns a phone call. read more

Vito (sales) was great in showroom, no pressure answered questions etc. Helpful,nice all the way. .But when you pay $3500 for something for your grand kids you should get a perfect system. Took my 3 and six-year-old here to play on a rainy day in the winter. They had a blast and kept asking to go back. However, we went back today, July 1, and realized after paying our $8 per child, that they do not have air-conditioning. I guess because it's a basic warehouse with play systems inside, they do not air-condition. So while we planned to be there for about an hour and a half or so we ended up leaving after 40 minutes of dire heat and dripping sweat. We will certainly return but not until the winter weather returns. read more

Superior Play Systems in Norristown has a very large collection of quality playsets and trampolines in a clean, spacious building that acts as a showroom and a playroom for children to try each system. Besides a great inventory, the customer service is superb. I needed uncommonly sized replacement pads for my trampoline and Dennis, the manager, and Vito were extremely helpful in ordering them from the manufacturer in an expeditious manner, and then notifying me when they arrived. I would definitely recommend Superior Play Systems to anyone in the market for outdoor recreational equipment. The salesman aren't super pushy and professional. Lastly the install crew was nothing but professional, courteous, and pretty fast. We ordered a playset and they said delivery would be in 3-5 weeks. After 5 weeks had passed I called them to see when we will be getting our playset. i was connected with Dennis who said he would check the schedule and call me back in an hour. he never called me back, I had to call back the next day and was connected to Dennis again, and he just threw out a date that was 3 more weeks away. I said Fine. The installers came and the playset is not lined up straight in our yard. I called Superior back and was connected to Dennis (again!) who said that would be a big undertaking to fix and when i tried to ask a question he hung up on me! I called him right back and he said he would check the schedule and get back to me on when they can fix it. He still has to call me back. TERRIBLE customer service from Dennis. we would want to purchase a trampoline and basketball net but will not be going back to Superior. read more

Purchasing and choosing add-ons was easy. Dylan did a great job walking us through everything. The people that set it up were very nice and did a great job. It is strong and I am confident it will be lasting a long time. The only negative was that the people who installed it left the trash behind. It is a really big box filled with other boxes that I now need to take the time to break down and get into my recycling.
