To buy something that is by prescription in the US, but over the counter in Mexico you have to figure out the system. Turns out you go up to the people behind the computer, behind the counter, in the center of the front of the store and ask for what you want. Have the name of the drug, and the milligrams for that drug written down so there is no confusion on what you want. The computer folks make you a ticket, and you go to the cashier to pay. The cashiers are in little boxes across from the computer people. You will pay and get several receipts. Then you bring the ticket, and all of the receipts to a third counter at the back of the ring of counters before you go into the retail store section. (I told you it was confusing). Your drugs come up from the basement in a funny scoop. Your name will be called, and you pick it up.
Now, if you want Retin A, you have to go to a different building that has an 81 flag outside. Again, you get a ticket for what you want, go to the cashier, pay, and go to the third counter to give the person behind the counter and give them the receipts, and they will give you the product.
As long as you understand the system, it's easy.
And, a huge thank you to Nora, the employee who helped me every step of the way.
