I had taken the day off and drove from Barstow to Victorville specifically for this appointment. When I arrived for the new 4:00 PM time, she was still working on the previous client. At 4:21 PM, I was told she would call/text me when I could come inside, so I waited in my car. By 5:07 PM, I still hadn't been called in. At that point, it had been over an hour since the rescheduled time and more than three hours since my original appointment. I texted that I couldn't wait any longer and requested my $54 deposit back. She called me at 5:08 PM saying she had just finished and I could either come inside or receive a refund. I chose the refund because I had already waited long enough. To her credit, she was understanding and canceled the appointment through StyleSeat. I understand appointments can run behind, but this was excessive. I had already accommodated a two-hour delay, drove from Barstow, and then waited another hour after the rescheduled time. For a $180 service, I expected better scheduling and communication. I can't speak on the quality of her work because I never received the service. This review is strictly about the scheduling and overall experience. I appreciate that I was given the option of a refund, but losing several hours of my day after making the drive was very disappointing.

The appointment was booked by Amy Gray for a haircut & wash with Valerie Cutro (no blowout/no styling) for October 7, 2026, at 1 PM. When I arrived at 12:56 PM, I wasn't greeted with a hello but instead was bluntly asked, "Do you have an appointment?" I confirmed that I had an appointment with Valerie Cutro, & moving forward everything went downhill from there. Valerie was okay at conversation but not at listening to my requests for the haircut I wanted. It seemed as though she already had her own "haircut" in mind. When I explained to her that my phone didn't have signal inside the salon & that I was having a hard time loading the video I had as a reference for the haircut, she didn't seem concerned & appeared to want to rush the experience entirely. After the video I wanted to show her wouldn't load, I remembered that I had screen-recorded it in case this issue came up. I showed her the video, & she still seemed to be in a rush nonetheless. When I saw my hair in the salon, I definitely noticed just how much she had cut off, but I still paid & walked out with my head held high, not realizing just how horrible the quality of the cut actually was. If I had noticed at the time I wouldn't have paid; that is definite. Keep in mind, the website they have linked for booking appointments lists a haircut & blow-dry with Valerie at $75. I only received a haircut & was still charged the full $75. Regardless, my hair looks nothing like the video I showed her or what I had communicated that I wanted. When I got home, my family & friends all told me that I shouldn't have paid the hairdresser. The cut is uneven, choppy, sloppy, & simply not what I asked for. My dad even asked if my hairdresser was drunk. My mom was extremely upset, & my friends suggested that they should have a word with Valerie, but instead, I'll leave this review. I've been to this salon in the past & had a wonderful experience with Vianey Lara over a year ago. I would have booked with her again, but she wasn't available on the website this month, so I decided to take a chance on a new hairstylist. That was my mistake. Peroxide Hair Salon can partially fix this issue by issuing a refund & speaking with their hair stylist.

I used to have to spend over an hour blow-drying and straightening my hair, and even longer if I wanted to curl it on top of that. Now, it's sleek and beautifully silky to the touch. Sunnie added a keratin treatment to ensure that my hair would retain some volume and keep it healthy after the straightening treatment. From the moment I sat down in the chair, she inspected my hair and told me that the process would consist of applying the solution to my hair, letting it process, washing it, drying and flat ironing it, then applying the neutralizing solution that would allow it to stay straight, using the keratin treatment, and using a special iron that would almost "steam out" the keratin solution and make it bond to the hair, and then we'd be done. She was an absolute delight and made sure that I was well taken care of the entire time. She even brought me water without even me having to ask! She was also very detailed and even made sure to check individual strands of hair during the entire process to make sure that there was nothing overlooked. My hair looks amazing. While I was grateful to have gotten attended the same day I called, it really did feel like I was fast money instead of a client. I have experience going to salons and I've never been treated like I did here. To begin she was very rough brushing my hair out with a comb instead of a brush and she went straight down running into knots and ripped some of my hair out instead of starting from the ends to the top to avoid any breakage. She gave me a trim that I agreed to and immediately I noticed she had cut my face framing pieces uneven. She also did a refresh on my already bleached hair with a fantasy color so when it came down to washing that out she basically wet all of the right side of my face taking my makeup off. She got water in my left ear as well just plopping her wet hands all over the sides of my face. Then she installed the tinsels from a kit that I had brought myself. Her demeanor was pleasant enough but I can't imagine trusting her with intricate work such as extensions that she claims she also services. When it came down to charging me she kept tapping on the register buttons and I grew concerned and hits me with a total of approximately $305. I really was confused I mean this is the high desert and they are charging hourly here. I'm a hardworking individual myself I get the hustle but the pricing breakdown truly did not translate to what I received, when I travel to San Bernardino and LA to upscale salons I have no issue paying that much because I receive much better care! And complementary drinks for that matter.. When I called the salon back the next day to try and resolve this issue I spoke with Joe I believe is his name possibly the manager? He told me I had to speak with the stylist directly and that was what I was trying to avoid I really did not like that he put me in that awkward position when I tried speaking to someone supposedly higher up about a service I feel like wasn't pleasant and a charge that was pretty high to just shell out for said experience. Rickey was so kind to squeeze me in, and I waited a little while for her to see me. She has the nicest helpers who got me washed and masked, and Rickey herself is exceedingly sweet and patient all while managing many different people and hair situations. I showed her reference photos and told her a little of my wishes and she got to work! It really seemed so subtle when she was cutting but once styled I couldn't be more pleased. We women almost always want to keep our length but many times i've left salons shockingly short, yet Rickey really made such a noticeable difference in the bounciness and playfulness of my refreshed layers while making any loss of length completely unnoticeable. This is probably the happiest i've ever been with a haircut! She was very easy to consult with about coloring in the future and I have all the trust that she can make some really beautiful but subtle differences in my overall color. The salon itself was in the nice lake area, and the closest entrance I saw was up a flight of stairs. Decent parking and an aesthetic salon with very comfortable sinks to sit at. Cannot emphasize their comfort enough. Not to diminish the timeliness of the staff- as I was being squeezed in, but I'd definitely recommend making ample time for your appointment as it would be less stressful for yourself and the staff.
