Do NOT use this service. Let me tell you why: I had called around to a few different companies that offer hotel childcare and given the nature of the service (having someone come into your room to work with your children, around all of your personal belongings and valuables), you want to be sure of the person and company that will be taking on that responsibility. On the Super Sitter's site, they claim to be licensed, bonded, and insured and say that they can produce it at any time. They also state that they have been in business for 25 years, so you might imagine them to be trustworthy, right?
Anyway, I give them a call and a woman named Nadine answers the phone. I tell her about my family, what I'm looking for and inquired about their bonding and insurance. Immediately she got a very defensive tone and said "I've had this business for 11 years and I have NEVER had anyone ask about insurance". (Note that the page said she had been running the business for 25 years, not 11). I read back the comment on her website where they said we are free to ask about bonding and insurance and told her that this was part of my hiring decision. She then started coming up with excuses as to why she cannot produce said documents (ie: It's not like an insurance card for a car). Then I ask her who it's through and she named some random name. I prompted her further and she refused to elaborate. Then she says in a very nasty tone, "If your so worried about being bonded and insured, why don't you just bring your OWN nanny?" and at that point, I told her that she would not be receiving my business and ended the call.
After checking the internet, I found that the insurance company she specified does not exist. So basically if something happens and there is no liability coverage, we could be at fault as the clients. And without being bonded, any of these people coming into our rooms can steal from us without consequence. And if she was being dishonest about that, it also makes me wonder how honest she is on the site about the background screening and fingerprinting of her employees. In such an intimate industry as childcare and in-room service, you cannot cut corners! read more
