Unlike a lot of other organic stores, they don't try to force vegetarianism or veganism down your throat: there's even a quite wel stocked meat counter! Not everything they sell is organic, or at least not labeled as such, but if it isn't, it will at least be local, seasonal, and sustainable. Often there are some free tasting samples, something that always makes shopping more interesting. Färm also serves as a pick-up point for Les Paniers Verts (an organic vegetable subscription), and since they keep your box in the cooled vegetable area, it's okay if you're a bit late to collect it. The staff is mostly bilingual NL-FR, but I'm sure most will be able to help you in English as well. They don't really sell household products like washing powder in bulk (yet), so I still go to other stores for that. However, they do sell ingredients to make your own household products, but so far I didn't get around to doing that. Färm could use a bicycle rack in front of the store, but I suppose that's not only up to them to decide.

The market…read morehas a decent variety of organic and natural products that one might be hard pressed to find elsewhere at the chain supermarkets; however, this place is horrible in terms of organization and customer care. It is almost always packed in here unless you come at odd hours and even so, the products are ridiculously overpriced. The people that work here are very slow at checking out customers and they are incredibly unfriendly, whether you speak to them in Flemish, English or French -- they just make the entire experience horrible. I've come here to get gluten free products as well as some of their ready made food which isn't half bad -- however, the service is horrible here that I would advise finding an alternative location to find organic products.

Belgomarkt provides a good variety of local/artisanal/organic ingredients, and top-notch quality for the money. Great selection of artisanal breads, organic cheeses, bulk grains and flours, and even pastas. Really nice meats. Today I was pleasantly surprised to see confit duck legs! At less than 4 euro, that's a bargain I could not resist. Also picked up some fresh terrine and duck rillettes, inexpensive and far better quality than what you find at the local supermarket (if you can find those products at all--usually not). My only frustration is that some of the fresh produce at Belgomarkt could be fresher. At my last visit, a few weeks ago, they have a nice selection of several varieties of organic apples. Today, only one kind, and you could tell they had been stored at room temperature and were past prime. (Management take note: Apples should be kept in the cooler at night, to keep them from off-gassing and ripening prematurely!) The leeks and dinosaur kale were also not fresh enough to buy. But these are easy problems to fix, if you train your staff and have adequate cold storage space. I will keep shopping here for the delicious local meats, cheeses and breads, and the occasional fresh veg. If Belgomarkt can pay more attention to keeping the fresh offerings truly fresh, I have a feeling they will attract even more fans!
