I walked in on a rainy afternoon and was able to get a massage without waiting. When I enter any massage parlor I immediately look around and see how clean it is. You know, someone is about to massage you while you're either naked or almost naked on some table- things should look in order and I can say this spa was pretty spotless. My massage therapist was great. Constantly making sure the pressure was to my liking and if I had any areas that I wanted worked on. My only complaint is that they wouldn't let me use my credit card to pay even though they have a credit card machine. So I had to take an additional charge from my credit card to take money out because they wouldn't let me swipe since they didn't want to pay the transaction fee on their end which ultimately only hurts the masseur because as a tourist, one budgets for so much money during a trip. I recommend the place and would go again, but make sure you come with cash before-hand so you don't have any issues. read more

After working like crazy for 5 days in NY, I found myself with less than an hour before I had to leave for the airport. I had walked past the spa before and decided to take a chance and see if anyone could squeeze me in for a massage. To my surprise, SMS offers massage in 30, 45, 60 (etc) time increments. The rooms have showers and seemed very clean. My massage was with Samet who was very strong, and thorough. I'll definitely come back and check out their other services the next time I'm in NYC. If I could give this zero stars, I would. A terrible experience. The worst "massage" I've ever had in my life. The guy had absolutely no idea about massage. For an hour he pushed lightly on my calves. The staff was terribly rude. Terribly. The receptionist was a jerk. They would not let me speak to a manager. They then pretended not to understand me. Considering we were staying directly across the street from this place we decided to check it out. It all started out good until the Massage itself began. The therapist has no idea how to read a client's body and spent so much time rubbing areas of my body that normally get very little attention or are skipped altogether because they do nothing to relax you or relieve tension. Just horrible. The kicker was his horrible communication in addition to the constant sniffling which told me he had a cold. This may explain the boring, unenthusiastic, lazy Massage I was receiving. He made zero effort to check-in, to adjust based on my non-verbal body communication. This was hands down one of the worse massages I've ever received. The rooms are clean, the front desk staff helpful to book but they seem like a bunch of lazy young guys who don't want to work hard but expect a lot in return. I was offended when asked twice about tipping and feeling pressured since my therapist was standing right there having a conversation totally ignoring me. I wanted to say "he doesn't deserve a tip" but again was reminded "tip in cash...tip in cash"! So unprofessional and just rude. I went here after all the rave reviews but I'll never return. Sad because this place seems to have great potential If managed properly. Tip number 1 to management,hire guys who enjoy what they do. Don't just hire a pretty face that is clueless about Massage. And tip number 2, tips are not mandatory! Clients shouldn't feel pressured to tip if service doesn't merit any additional compensation. Lastly, don't have therapists sitting around engaging in conversations when there are clients checking in and out. Horrible experience! I went for a massage there a couple weeks back. The plus, it's clean. Now let's get to the real review. My massage therapist, Adam (at least he thinks he is) starts his work and immediately begins to prod me with questions about my life including my personal life. I was semi annoyed until he says " you seem nice I'll give you a great massage). The cockiness and arrogance of this guy was palpable. He completely ruined my vibe, not to mention got me more on edge than when I first entered the place. This guy is no more a massage therapist as I'm an astrophysicist. Afterwards, the desk gives me that by 10 get one free massage. They asked me to give my last 4 digits of my phone number and kept the card, which I thought of as shady. From the minute I walked in there and was greeted by a bunch of staring eyes to the minute I left-a pretty irritating experience all around. If you walk by this place , just keep walking. Never had a bad experience and have been there multiple times. Some therapists are more chatty than others, but I've found once you get talking they open up. My masseur was Max. I got a 1hr table scrub and massage. The staff are very helpful and the facilities are top-notch clean. Max had the ability to give deep tissue and sensual, so it was quite relaxing and left the right amount of soreness afterwards. However, there could have been more stretching. I'd probably skip the scrub next time, get a massage, and sit in their sauna and shower. I can see why there's a need to confirm exactly what you want because I did ask for time in the sauna, but there wasn't enough time at the end. I got chance work few days here. I cannot agree with work ethics and how 2 boss treat their employees. First the spa is not clean as their appearance - chair not clean for a year, bathroom barely clean as detailed...air system is messy easily get ppl in sick. Boss not change their clothes for every day, so you can image how can they clean their spa. I was getting a dry massage when he asked if I wanted to cuddle... after about 2 minutes I stated ... there needs to be some massage for the money I'm paying. The therapist, Daniel, got up apparently annoyed and started giving me a massaged with only one hand, I asked if I could shorten it to 60 min and he said he would have to ask. I don't know why he had to ask, if I could have made it shorter I would have. Mixed feelings about this place. The spa itself is one of the nicest men spas I have been to in the city. They were able to take me right away with no appointment. The room itself was great. Spacious with great ambience and even had a shower in the room. The masseur was nice but unfortunately the massage itself was mediocre. He asked if I wanted soft, medium or strong and I said strong and there was barely any pressure. If that was strong I can't imagine what the massage would have been like had I said soft!
