This is a shop you could spend hours in with all sorts of stationary goodies! From Ribbons and cards, to arts and crafts for making your own cards and invitations. I found myself wondering who I could make a card for immediately! There's lots of other goodies in store, and puts the usual chain brands to shame with so many unique ideas and designs, why wouldn't you spend an extra 10 minutes creating something unique rather than grabbing an off the shelf design with no thought put into it. I'll be coming back to potter around and inspire my creative side.

It stocks an excellent range of materials ranging from Paper/Canvas, Pens, Pencils, Paints, card Rubber Stamping, Stencils, Card, Craft Kits etc. It also hosts regular events wth guest artists giving workshops etc. If you enjoy arts and crafts in anyway this is great place to check out. UPDATED - REDUCED TO 4 STARS Visited Creative World last week whilst on holiday down south. Creative World still have a reasonably large offering but it has cut down on many of it's ranges. Soap making and Candle making are no longer catered for. They've also started to stock more sets rather than individual art materials.

In my search for halloween costume creations, I decided to just bring out the big guns and find the largest crafty store possible, and this is what I came up with. It's a haul from central, but they had everything I was looking for (except for the size in one thing), but I got all my crafting done in one place and that was well worth the trip. My fellow yelper wasn't so lucky, as she seems to be looking for some items that just don't prevail anywhere in the UK, but if you need a crafting mecca, I suggest you pick up a crossword puzzle and take the tube ride out. It's just a short 5-10 min walk from the tube station too!

It's a dinky little shop with a bell that rings when a customer arrives. It is one of the smallest shops in the city yet has so much stuff for sale. As the name suggests it sells little gifts, wrapping paper, cards and luxury stationary. It also has some more random things too like mugs, jewellery and joke-shop style gags. It sounds like a bit of a mix-mash of things but if you're in the area it's worth a trip to pick up some lovely cards and gift bags. It always smells like perfume or incense and the ladies working there are very sweet, all older women who are really helpful and pleasant. It's always on my list of places to go on the run up to Christmas and never has the festive queues or elbowing that you get in department stores this time of year.

Hands-on Art Adventures is a well chosen name that describes the wide variety of things available to do at this centre. Although just opened (in Jan11), there are already many different experiences on offer - organised at various times of the week. Within the last month, I've now been twice with my children. At one session we chose pottery painting and were provided with a selection of designs, lots of colours and painting tools to add interesting touches to the models. There's a professional kiln installed on site which is run after your work is dipped in glaze, then a few days later the finished figurines looked great. At our second visit, we tried acrylic painting on canvas with the theme of copying an abstract style. This was a clever approach to introducing a particular art movement and artist to my children who were encouraged to create their own interpretation of the style. Grown-ups are encouraged to join in, but this was when I realised my children are much better artists than I am!
