I checked in and went to my room which was freezing. I tried the thermostat, and it didn't work at all (neither did the phone in the room). I went down to the desk and the manager came up, saw that nothing was working, and went and got me a key to another room and an upgrade to a suite. The suite is the same as a regular with an added couch and coffee table. I had the breakfast, which was standard for a hotel breakfast with the additions of warm cinnamon rolls, pancakes, and sausage and gravy. The staff was very accomodating.

I paid $170/per night. I was put in room 316 a double queen bed room where bed #1 was broken causing it to tilt about 20° down the top left side. They continue to make this bed up and offer it to customers - amazing. The lamp on the nightstand works, no it doesn't, yes it's back on, no it's off again. The toilet runs to refill every 34 seconds, I counted as it kept me up the first night. The security latch on the door is half missing - a danger nowadays. Overall the room is tired, broken handle on the desk, hair dryer doesn't work (but the built-in night light does). I shower but if you desire to bathe good luck, the drain stopper is missing. I asked to be put in another room but was told none were available. Choice properties in general seem to be on the decline. I've begun using IHG as my first go to. I didn't have that option on this trip.

I complained to the front desk in the morning and they apologized since I am pretty sure I was right about availability of bigger rooms for an upgrade. Anyway the hotel is newer and the room and bath were in good shape though the sound traveled through the walls quite easily. This was the third Fairfield Inn stay on this trip with all of them being newer and this one was the first where the walls seemed thin. Also another Marriott property where there were no easy to access outlets bedside! The breakfast was typical for a FI and the nightly rate was reasonable but they need to do some coaching of their front desk help!

It holds the standard that most HIEs are supposed to hold. It's just starting to show its age, but it is still a comfortable hotel. The room kept a comfortable temperature, the bed was OK, but not great, and the water pressure was fine. The hotel is always clean. The internet connection was acceptable, but a bit spotty if you are trying to stream any video. The pool seems to always be closed, and while that doesn't matter much to me, it could be important to others. Service has always been good. Not great, but just above "OK".
