Wenn Sie jemals einen Film aus den 1960er Jahren gesehen haben, in dem ein gehobenes Hotelrestaurant eine Rolle spielt ... dieser Ort versucht, das wieder aufleben zu lassen. Mit dunkler Holzvertäfelung, frischen Blumen, individuell graviertem Besteck, gewölbtem Geschirr, Leinenservietten mit genähten Knopflöchern, flüsterleise und ohne Musik, obwohl der Verkehr am Hauptbahnhof durch die Fenster sichtbar ist. Leider ist der Versuch erfolglos. Langsam tauchen mehrere Probleme auf, angefangen mit dem schwarzen Klebeband, das das Loch im Teppich fast vor dem Haupteingang repariert. "Das ist so ein kleines Detail!" "Nein. Es gibt keine kleinen Details." Die Kellner schienen kompetent, aber ich war zum Mittagessen da, und es waren kaum 20 % belegt. Das Essen selbst war nicht allzu schlecht, aber kleinere Probleme störten mich - wie das getrocknete "frische" Brot, das zum Essen serviert wurde. Vielleicht kann ich das mit den Salz- und Pfefferstreuern beheben, die an jedem Tisch aufgestellt sind. Es ist bedauerlich, dass ein Restaurant mit einer so offensichtlich reichen Geschichte anscheinend verschleudert wurde. Ich werde in ein paar Jahren wiederkommen ... vielleicht. / The food is mostly pretty good, but... If you ever watched a 1960s movie involving a high-end hotel restaurant... this place tries to bring that back.  With dark wood paneling, fresh flowers, custom engraved flatware, dome-covered dishes, linen napkins with sewn button-hole, whisper quiet with no music despite main train station traffic visible through the windows. Unfortunately, the attempt is unsuccessful.  Several problems slowly emerge, starting with the black tape repairing the hole in the carpet almost in front of the main entrance. "That is such a small detail!" "No. There are no small details." The servers seemed competent, but I was there for lunch, with barely 20% occupancy. The food itself was not too bad, but minor problems bothered me - such as the dried "fresh" bread served with the meal.  Maybe I can remedy that using the salt and pepper shakers placed at each table. I had to ask the only person in the room if I was in the right place. I sat in the terrasse and enjoyed an amazing lunch. The service. From that point picked up and was super attentive. They do not rush you so don't be surprised if your order isn't taken quickly. I noticed this too with all the locals dining there too. I would come back because this restaurant exudes class taste and civility in the middle of a bustling city.

The pizza I shared was really good and very heavy on the garlic. The bread they gave us was phenomenal. I had a lot of bread on this trip, but this stuck out as one of the best I had. Easy to find, easy to eat and order here. I would recommend it for a quick or even a long lunch including drinks. They seemed to have a very impressive cocktail list here.

It can include croissants, bread rolls, bacon, cold meats, cheese, yoghurt, tomatoes and mozzarella, eggs and grilled vegetables. They tend to be a bit stingy with the grilled vegetables though and the breadrolls aren't the best. There's also too many of them. The rest of the food isn't nice, though. The flavor is weirdly inconsistent. Sometimes bland, sometimes too salty. They also do pastas and pizzas but so does almost everywhere else... Would definitely recommend the brunch. If you want tapas go somewhere else. If you want pizza, Calador is on the same street and much better.

Dropped in to this traditional bar on the way back to my hotel one night. Seems to attract an older…read morecrowd late in the evening, I didn't see anyone less than a decade older than me. I liked the bar. It had a good feel to it. My Sunner Kolsch was smooth and I was a tad disappointed to have already eaten as the offer of curry wurst and chips for less than four quid would definitely have tempted me. Re-known for its mussels apparently. I wouldn't dare after my one and only stomach churning experience with the clam.

But I never would have thought that the best Vietnamese food I'd ever had would be in Cologne, Germany. And that it would be vegetarian. But it was.
