OMG!!! I should have looked at the reviews before coming. Brought my new Au Pair and toddlers in toe to set up a simple student bank account. Took the kids to get ice cream to kill time once she was inside. Over an hour later we are sitting in front in the minivan and the transaction is still not complete? Really! It takes over an hour to set up a simple student account? Pathetic . The best and most expedient Suntrust Branch I ever went to was the one on Main Street, Annapolis. Those women were fabulous and they closed that branch. Banks have to be the next thing for technology and AI to revolutionize. I bought a vehicle at a local dealership, and the dealership uses this bank. I was like fine as long as I can get the same rate, and they honored the rate of my bank. I should have stuck with my bank. I don't know if this is the smallest and cheapest bank in the world or what BUT..... I was on vacation and had no access to email. My payment was due on the 1st and they started calling my house on the 3rd. They proceeded to call everyday until they filled my whole voice mail box. I have had mortgages that I have paid off and many cars over the years plus many student loans. Needless to say, I called them to give it to them. If you want to feel like you borrowed the money from your friend that lives paycheck to paycheck then use this bank. If you want to not feel pressured and use a bank for grown-ups.... chose another bank. read more

dear SunTrust: I've been banking with you since 2005. In that time, you've failed me in more ways than I ever could have expected. Before I close my accounts with you permanently and never ever do business with you ever again, I would like to take the time to tell you what you've done to inspire such loathing. 1.) You mailed me a LIVE replacement card. Anyone at all could have used it, anyone who opened the envelope. You put a fake "activation" sticker on the card which called a legitimate activation hot line, but the card already worked, so that was really there only to trick me into thinking the card wasn't live and you were being a responsible business entity. 2.) You ruined a vacation! On a random Thursday my card stopped working. I went online and my account looked normal. All funds were present. The next day I went to my local branch to see what the problem was. They assured me that there was just a technical problem with the bank servers and my card would work fine over the holiday weekend. They were wrong. It turned out that there was a security hold on my card, but no one bothered to contact either me or anyone at my local branch that it was there. Worse, the hold was in place due to an online electronics purchase THAT WAS BEING MAILED TO MY BILLING ADDRESS! Why you would think someone would steal my card only to send me gifts is beyond me, but regardless, if you're going to suddenly deny me access to my money, you should make an effort to contact me. You left me stranded out of town, with no money and ruined an entire long weekend getaway. 3.) The one time you actually should have flagged my account, you didn't. Although making purchases that were sent to my own home flags security, apparently unexpected international travel does not. Without first contacting you, I took a motorcycle trip across Europe and planned for my card to get flagged. It never did. I spent thousands across multiple countries making out-of-character purchases and you didn't notice. 4.) I considered refinancing my home with you. I went to my local branch to do so. The woman I spoke with was very friendly, but knew surprisingly little about the process. She could have told me up front that what I was looking to do wasn't possible due to some default banking technicalities. As a result, we wasted a lot of time and man hours. She went on to advise me that a better option would be to take out a home equity loan. There were, however, two problems with this: a.) the same issue that kept you from helping me refinance would keep me from getting a home equity loan. And b.) I explained very clearly that my primary goal was to refinance. Had I gotten a home equity loan, it would have created a difficult hurdle to that eventual process. Your staff woman advised me to sign up for a product that was clearly not in my best interest to pursue. She put a short term sales goal ahead of a much more important long-term happy customer. If I'd simply trusted her and not gone home to do my own research, you guys really would have screwed me over. 5.) Your staff, save the above mentioned woman, seems pretty competent. They're friendly and helpful and always smiling. They do however, seem to be occasionally forced into performing bad customer service. For example: The tellers (who are super-awesome & know me by name) know that I have a checking account and know that I don't want another checking account, savings account, etc. They still ask me -every..single..time- if I want one. They know I don't want one. They know it's annoying to ask. They know that someone above them is going to yell at them if they don't ask. See the problem? Please stop demanding that your staff annoy your customers. Your teams are good at their jobs. It's the high-up bosses that seem to suck at theirs. Don't act like you know how to provide good customer service, Mr Corporate Boss. You don't have a F$%^ing clue. Your tellers know more than you. Let them do their jobs. They can't be the best they can be because you're forcing them to be rude. Anyway, changing banks is a MASSIVE pain in the butt. I've got 30+ different links to this bank that I've now got to change one at a time. You not only let me down, you let me down so hard that I'm willing to spend hours changing codes, updating websites, and contacting companies. I've got to have excess savings to float two checking accounts while I make sure all my automatic payments successfully move and clear. It's a lot of work but it's worth it. Banking with a bank that's irresponsible, bumbling, poor at communicating, and willing to ruin a customer's trust over a short term sales goal is a risk that any sane person would spend a lot of time to avoid. I've moved on to a better bank. As soon as the last of my linked accounts are switched over I'll be disconnecting service with you forever. PS I hope you choke and die on the new $7 "service" fee you've attached to my checking account. Burn in hell. read more

I am surprised that this bank is still in business,they have a horrible customer,unprofessional staff ,long wait time until anybody will come up to you to check if there is anything they help you today or something,so you are a suntrust customer just use another location ,they may be better. read more

I sent a customer with a company check to cash it and Sarah Wardak the branch manager did not cash the check. Sarah called our Dealership to verify that the check was real which we did and even gave her the names on the account and said yes we authorize that check to be cashed and she still said she doesn't want to cash it. When I asked if it had anything to do with the customer being a young African in sweatpants with a $10,000 check she stated she did not have enough money in the draw. Now I'm not the smartest guy but when a bank doesn't have enough money to cash a check something is wrong. However I'm also wise enough to know if that was the case then why did you call me and verify the check? Racism still exist and unfortunately Suntrust Bank allows its customers to experience it first hand. read more

I have been a customer for about a year, and I just have a checking acct and a savings acct. Never had any problems and 99%of the time the staff has been friendly, professional, competent, both at the branch and on the phone. I wish they had an ATM machine inside the branch too, but overall am quite satisfied. read more

I've banked at this Bank, this branch in particular since 08. I have had very good service form all of the team-members. Due to the banking crisis and rules there is a lot of pressure and they have their hands tied by government regulations. Within the environment they have to do business, I think their service is excellent and this branch is a good team. I would give them 5 stars except that Suntrust corporate I believe failed me in protecting me form a fraud issue I had. I had stolen checks cashed and since I didn't notify them within 30 days - I didn't catch it until I did an audit some months later (I am a business owner and bills are paid by accountant and bookkeeper) they got out of fraudulent checks they accepted. read more
