We switched our boys to Kiddie Academy from another day care and it was a hard adjustment for our…read moretoddler at first. The staff has done really great at making him feel welcome and integrating him in with new friends. He is now running into his class with excitement. We also have a 3 month old who attends and I love that there is always 2-3 teachers in the baby room making sure everything is being ran smoothly.

My little ones went to KALE for a few months. The turnover was high (yes, everyone is dealing with…read morestress and pressure during COVID) and the communication was inadequate. I interviewed lots of child care centers prior to settling with KALE. The director I met a month before was not the same when my kids started. When they got a new teacher for my kid's class, they did not inform the parents. Luckily, I paid additional ($40/month) for the cameras so I questioned my kiddo about the new teacher. Other parents had no idea for at least a month. There were 22 kids crammed into a room with one teacher and a floating teacher sometimes. As for the cameras, they did not charge monthly. They deducted the total from the refundable deposit. With the constant changes, organization is not a priority. I asked the director two weeks prior to Christmas what the plan was and she said she is just thinking about the next day. Yikes! One of my kiddos was not acclimating well to the new environment and she couldn't get any attention from the teacher since the teacher was wrangling almost 20 kids. My kid was usually alone and I didn't see the teacher trying to engage or encourage her to join the rest of the class. I pick up my little one at the same time every day right before nap time. Sometimes, they would have the kids wait by the door for over 30 minutes in the dark. Speaking of doors, they do not have conventional closed doors. All doors are short so you can hear everything going on in other classes. Onto the neutral/plus side, the school had some potential. The meals were on par with other places, the curriculum was admirably challenging, and they tried to set up events on Sundays but they were usually low turnouts. I wish the school all the best but I can't recommend it to my fellow parent friends and their kids.

Shieka took exceptional care of him and played a huge role in his early development. He learned so much during his time there, which prepared him well for preschool. One thing that really stands out is the emphasis on good manners and character. To this day, we receive so many compliments on his behavior and mannerisms, and much of that is thanks to Shieka's Place. If you're looking for a safe, loving, and trustworthy environment where your child will be treated like family, I highly recommend Shieka's Place.

My children have since graduated from Shieka's Place, but I highly recommend her for so many…read morereasons. First, she has cultivated an amazing learning environment. Because of the strong foundation she helped instill, my children are now breezing through their elementary curriculum with confidence. The meals are home-cooked, which meant everything to our family. One of my children had several food sensitivities, and she went above and beyond by customizing all of his meals and snacks to accommodate his needs. This is something you simply don't find everywhere. She also offered flexible scheduling, which was invaluable when life inevitably "lifed." Her support during those moments made a real difference. The birthday and graduation celebrations were always thoughtful and beautifully done, creating memories we'll cherish forever. Most importantly, she nurtured my babies as if they were her own, and that level of care is truly priceless. I also loved the consistency and peace of mind that came with dropping my children off to the same warm, reliable face every single day. Shieka's Place will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Other facilities averaged about $175.00 less a month, which would pay other bills. However, as luck would have it, CL-Oak Point was the best choice based on availability and location. Three months in, we are THRILLED with our decision to enroll our child. There have been many noticeable improvements in terms of writing, math, and various other academic measures. Most importantly, he truly enjoys his time there, only being upset when I pick him up earlier than anticipated. An added bonus is that tuition includes breakfast, an AM snack, lunch, and a PM snack. That alone offsets $100.00 a month. One thing that I would like to point out for those that have concerns about children being left on busses is that due to the time I arrive for pick up, I often see the bus arrive to drop kids off. When it arrives, kids are accounted for more than once to assure no one is left behind. Finally, the school offers monthly "date nights" for parents. For less than the cost of most babysitters, you can have a few hours to yourself with your significant other, all while keeping the belly of your kiddo full!

Having been a preschool Director for 5+ years, and previous to that and administrator and educator, I know the ins and outs of both sides of this tough and sometimes under appreciated business. I know all the tips, tricks and sales tactics... but that's not what you find here at Childrens Lighthouse in Oak Point. It's all heart. And the empowerment and passion begins at the top and certainly reflects the whole way down. Our daughter has deeply missed school, friends, and routine since covid and a career change put us on a new track one year ago. After much thought and far too many lonnnnng days at home with an energetic and curious wanderer, we knew it was time to get her back on track and in the "game". We are so incredibly thankful to have found such an amazing school minutes from our home! I knew as soon as I walked through the front door that Children's Lighthouse was the best option for our baby girl and that she would be loved and cared for by the way the educators conducted themselves without knowing anyone was observing. These ladies love what they do and that love pours onto these kiddos. I am so thankful for Katie, Director, being there to lead the pack of dedicated and devoted educators in a way that spreads pure joy and energy through those halls! If I can't be there with our baby girl every day, I'm thankful she and her team are! I know my baby is in loving and wonderful hands every day! We are so excited this new adventure and can't wait to watch her continue to blossom!
