I called a week before my stay in Rincon and spoke to Jennie (the owner, the # is her personal cell phone as well). She was very accommodating and friendly. We made an easy appointment for a bridal updo and makeup. The place was a little hard to find, just because the pins on the map are not the correct address. Location: find the farmacía Puebla, its right across the street on top of the tattoo parlor and pizza place. There are a few spots if parking which made it easy. My hair looked stunning. Jennie is so talented in what she does, & really can make suggestions as to what suits you. Makeup - Yajaira (sp?) was very sweet and gave me a smokey eye. Just tell them what you want and they will do it. If you say you want a lot of makeup, they will give you a lot. So just be specific! I did hope it was airbrush makeup, but since being on a small island - resources are low. You can bring in any makeup you want to use or use what they have there. I would have done the makeup myself and saved a lot of money, but I did look pretty and she was very sweet. If you are not good at applying makeup, then come get yours done. Otherwise save a lot of money. If I come to Rincon again, I would definitely come back to get my hair done if needed! read more

I recently moved to Puerto Rico and have been looking for a salon. I am from Washington DC where there are tons of upscale salons (and upscale prices to match). I went to Sunset Spa based on reviews from Yelp, and wasn't disappointed. I had dyed my hair at home a few weeks ago. It was way too dark and I didn't want to try to correct it myself. So decided to take a chance on Sunset Spa. I'm so happy I did. Now my hair looks beautiful. Jenny and her staff put some lovely highlights to tone down the botched dye job I did. Then they gave me a really nice hair cut. And even after all the processing over the last few weeks, my hair still feels healthy. Jenny really listened to what I wanted and what my needs were (I am in the military and couldn't have anything too wild). And the other great thing is that it cost only about 1/3 of the price I would have paid in Washington DC. The salon has a hometown, neighborhood business feel. It's not full of chrome, glass and glitz. But it is comfortable and has a great vibe. I have found my new go-to salon. read more

It was a nice little place and reasonably priced. The manicurist was very polite and did a nice job on my nails. I do wish they did nail art other than on the weekends when the other manicurist is on duty. Also, they let your nails to air dry. A UV light nail dryer is very inexpensive, they should consider adding it to the package. Overall, a nice experience. read more

Do NOT get any waxing done at this salon. While the owner and her assistant were nice and it helped that they spoke English their protocol for waxing was incredibly subpar. The wax was too hott, it hurt more than any waxing I've had done (I've been consistent for 3 years), there was no procedure to cleanse before or after, I was left feeling sticky and my vagina hurt. Now I have red bumps and the hair isn't even completely removed. I had my eyebrows done and the girl was an idiot. She had me sit in a chair, spilled wax on my shoulder, and did the worst job you could imagine. Waste of money. Shitty job, do NOT get waxing here. read more

I recently visited Rincon, P.R. and literally walked into the Sunset Spa somewhat near closing time expecting to make an appt. for a pedicure the next day. I wasn't able to get one before we left for vacation due to my busy work schedule. Jenny said that she could take me right then and there, if I wanted, no problem. Jenny and her staff (Alyara did my pedicure) were absolutely great. Extremely friendly with customers and each other - very inviting. They make you feel like you are a long time customer and even an amiga! One of the local business women was in there and a girlfriend of the pedicurist. They were all talking together and even included me in the various conversations. I speak Spanish but it was so interesting to hear the Spanglish back and forth. I was treated to some wine and Pitorro (homemade hooch) which was really a nice touch. We talked back and forth about wines and how the Pitorro was made and aged. The pedicure was very good and a very reasonable price. Poor Alyara had to really worked hard to make my feet smooth, which is a difficult task. I'm a zookeeper and have to wear steel toed boots all the time and I'm in and out of water and hard on my feet. She did a great job - even my husband was impressed. My family and I went to get our hair done for my nephew's wedding. We loved Jenny and her staff! They were so accommodating and nice. She did the most incredible braid on my daughter that everyone at the wedding was commenting how beautiful she looked. I was in Rincon for vacation in January and was not able to get a mani/pedi done before I left. I thought long and hard about writing this review and while my hair and my brides maids hair looked fabulous bottom line is we all got RIPPED OFF! Yes we understand Jenny and Jahaira opened on a Sunday for us when they are usually closed on Sundays but THIS does not justify price gouging her rates to double of what is normally charged AND refusing to deduct prepaid deposits. Each girl was told a different reason for the "mixup" but bottom line is she quoted one thing to get our business then doubled it when we actually went there and on top of that refused to apply our prepaid deposits. ( Who does that????? ) claiming that prices quoted were in "addition" to deposit not including it. One of our guests is a high end salon partner in Wesport CT and she even expressed how Jenny's tactics were OUTRIGHT OUTRAGEOUS to say the least. I had a great experience here. I was able to get an appt within an hour of calling. My haircutand highlights were done by the one and only Jenny. She was super friendly and attentive to my needs regarding the type of cut I wanted and made me feel at home. I walked out with a fabulous new look and feeling sexy ( which my husband loved) It is hard for me to trust a stylist I am unfamiliar with, but she made me feel comfortable and listened to what I preferred. She asked questions to understand how I wear my hair etc. It was a fun and relaxing experience overall.I loved the music and her staff was great! This pedicure will rival any NY service!! The wonderful owner took us as soon as possible (within an hour with a phone call) with greetings and smiles. The atmosphere was clean, professional and comfortable. No message chairs like us spoiled Americans are used to but my pedicurist would give any Asian place a run for their money. My feet were lake a baby's bottom when done. Basically a spa pedicure for the price and time of a regular pedi. Messed up nail and went back next day for a no charge fix. read more

Jennie is amazing! Very happy I found her. I recently moved to Puerto Rico and had a terrible experience at a salon in San Juan. I found Jennie and she fixed my hair doing a full color correction and took me from brown to blonde without damaging my hair and no weird yellow/orange color to it. My girls had manicures and my mom and I had pedicures today. Wonderful experience. My young daughters are so impressed with the manicures, and my mom is almost 80 and said she's never had someone so carefully clean her toes and attend to her feet. I just got married in Rincon on July 5th, 2014. I was recommended to Sunset Spa through my wedding planner and am so happy I was. Jenny was great to work with from the beginning to the end. I had a couple last minute add on services needed for the wedding party and it was not a problem at all for her and her staff to accommodate! She made the entire session fun as we sipped on our mimosas and laughed! My hair and makeup turned out wonderful and even though it did end up raining through my wedding, all stayed in place and I still looked great into the reception! Jenny was so great to us. My brother's wedding planner recommended calling her the day before the wedding and she agreed to style hair for 5 ladies, including the mother of the groom. Watching her and her team work was like watching a street artist. She would start with normal hair, curl it, spray it, move it around, pin it and then, voila, a beautiful work of art was in front of your eyes. They were able to take one lady with short hair and make it look like she had longer hair in an up-do. With my mother, they played with the grey in her hair and styled it so it looked like the grey were intentional highlights that framed her face.She was honest with my cousin that the style she had in mind would not standup in the island humidity and helped her find close style that would.
