Over…read moretime, this mall has generally been a good spot to gather with a quality set of stores, though there's definitely a lot more competition nearby with good options in all of the surrounding shopping centers that cover all the different varieties of shops and restaurants. With lots of indoor malls closing nearby, this setup has become a bit more of a rarity, and personally I still like having a large spot with furniture to sit down at when I need to rest, a climate controlled area for when it's too hot or cold outside, and lots of fun spots to do seasonal pictures. With Hawthorn 2.0, I'm quite excited for what is to come. It looks like there will be a fresh set of solid anchors like Perry's Steakhouse, AMC, Dave & Busters, Macy's, etc. If this develops similarly to Randhurst, this would be a great spot to gather in Vernon Hills. Even before this is complete however, Hawthorn Mall has retained more quality tenants and has an overall cleaner and more modern look than some of the other indoor malls nearby. With the next closest similar offering being Woodfield Mall, this is still a fairly unique offering.

We had a good dinner at City Barbeque and were able to get groceries quickly at Jewel-Osco. I recommend both of these businesses. Other stores at Deerbrook Mall included Starbucks, Subway, Hobby Lobby, and Brunswick Zone. I highly recommend Deerbrook Mall and will return in the future.

No burger joint. And every escalator was not operational when I visited. The only reason I was there, was to donate blood. The AMC is still around, but the whole place looks like a zombie apocalypse. I most recently attended a peaceful protest here. Not only did the area give space for us to declare our position it also provided the loving warmth of our community coming together.

With Dairy Queen onsite, it's the perfect place to enjoy a summer evening with your favorite Blizzard or twist cone. Port Clinton is an outdoor shopping center where you'll discover a few specialty shops. The plaza area hosts annual events, including the holiday tree lighting extravaganza, Fourth of July festivities, and the Port Clinton Art Festival. Certain Friday nights you can listen to musicians compete in Battle of the Bands, and they've also been known to show outdoor movies. For anyone moving to the area, I highly recommend coming to the plaza for a glimpse of the community. There's plenty of bench seating and tables, and I promise you an interesting mix of citizens for spectacular people watching. Two of my favorite things: 1) A giant engraved map of Highland Park where you can find the street where you live; 2) the smell of bacon wafting through the air from the adjacent Walker Bros Pancake restaurant. Plenty of free street parking and an underground garage.

I am a big fan of their ladies' casual dresses and my husband likes their selection of dress shirts. We have found a couple good value options and consistent availability, which is nice when you need something and don't have days to shop for it. The staff is always friendly and helpful also! If you're in the area, I recommend giving this Nordstrom Rack a try!

They had a fairly large selection of shoes for women with enormous feet (me) when I stopped in, and I ended up buying a couple pair. I was really surprised to find a pair of ankle boots on clearance for $17-18--if only they had fit! Lots of what they had (at this time anyway) were heels or wedges which I don't mess with but I found a couple pairs of work-appropriate flats that I could also wear fairly comfortably with a dress if I want. I haven't seen Clarks in Nordstrom Rack in some time, which is a bummer since they're my favorites (so comfy!!), but I'll keep looking. Lots of parking here since it's part of a shopping center.

I have noticed that even though this square has been reconstructed since 2000 from "Deerfield Commons", it appears to be pretty new and modern, with many upscale shops and boutiques, and a bunch of nice restaurants. In a hot summer day, the beautiful outdoor area of the square looks very attractive. I am only familiar with Walgreens, Sephora, and Fresh Foods in the mall, but the restaurants here seem to be pretty appealing too. From their directory online, there are Café Zupas, Egg Harbor Cafe, Il-Forno Pizza & Pasta, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Rosebud, Scoops & Cookies, Tlacoyo Mexican Grill, and Whole Foods Market. The various restaurants and eateries would definitely fit different budgets and appetites. I will return with my family to explore this beautiful shopping mall further.

Pembrook Shopping Center also features Vitalant, Cho's Cleaners, Mama K's Pizza & Grill, Harbor Coin, Nailtique, Removery, Comfort Dental, Kumon Learning Center, and Jimmy John's. It is conveniently located across the street from Six Flags Great America. There is plenty of parking. Have fun at their many shops.

They are also home to some of my favorite restaurants, including Biaggis, California Pizza Kitchen, and Stoney River. There is plenty of parking and the layout makes it easy to find the shops you are looking for. I look forward to seeing what shops and amenities Deer Park Town Center adds in the future.
