Do not buy this product! It provides little to no shade and the customer service is awful. Don't waste your money

Christkindlmarkt - Merry Christmas

Since I am not going to be able to take off for that Viking River Cruise down the Danube through…read moreGermany this December, then this is the next best thing. The American German Club has devised a great festival to celebrate in an old world style. The event is held every December at their club. Parking is free and admission to the festival is $10. Everyone accepts cards so no need to worry about carrying cash. There is so much to do here but you are going to need some money to fully enjoy everything. For the kids there are rides like a small train and carousel. They have crafts like cooking decorating and large snowflake decoration making. Everything for the kiddies requires tickets. When it gets dark you can purchase a lantern for them to carry in the Santa led parade and afterwards they can have their picture taken with Father Christmas himself. As for me I shopped until I dropped. If you want to dress up like Fräulein Maria in the sound of music they sell everything you need to wear at the Alpine Chic boutique. My favorite store was the Alpine Boutique where I purchased a wooden light up Christmas decoration straight from Germany. They also sell advent calendars, beer steins, and nut crackers. At another vendor I purchased some ornaments for work secret gifts and adorable gnomes wrapped up for winter. After shopping I was starving and there was no lack of German delicacies to try. It is hard to chose from all of the bratwurst, potato pancakes, and schnitzel, along with baked goods ranging from stollen, strudel, and pretzels. Don't forget the Gluehwein, wine, and of course all the German beers. I had a cocktail called a Christmas cookie made with Kahlua and Peppermint Schnapps that was amazing. Everyone asked me about it. While you eat you can enjoy musical performances, holiday carolers, dance groups and festive holiday music. When it gets dark the Christmas lights and get turned on and the market is even more beautiful. The market is the perfect place to learn about German culture and language while trying German cuisine, products and traditions. This was my first visit but it won't be my last at this wonderful holiday tradition.
