We unfortunately signed a contract with Sunrun, Inc. in August of 2024, to fix our roof, fascia/bird infestation behind the broken fascia, and then to install solar with them. This has been my biggest regret in my last 33 years. Their customer service team is horrid. Our experience with their customer service team has been a nightmare, and is now going on over a year of back and forth with no resolutions. If I could reach every single person I love to warn them about this company, I would. First, we have been bounced around from rep to rep, countless times. In many cases, it took months to get an email or call back from this company. There were multiple times where we were not informed of workers coming out, including for our roof install, which ended up happening on a weekend we were not even home.   Before the roof install, our contact Alice forgot that we were promised a brand new roof (in our contract), and tried to talk us into just putting new roofing on top of the old, due to her error. Eventually she owned her mistake, but it took much back and forth.   After the roof project, we informed Sunrun they didn't fix our fascia as promised. Sunrun then "fixed" our fascia months later and did it incorrectly. It doesn't extend long enough like the other side that didn't need replacing, leaving a huge gap for birds to gather, that continue to live in our walls.   During the roof install, our gutters were damaged, and now hang lower than they did before meeting Sunrun, and aren't working properly when it rains or snows. Jessica our newer POC, claimed that she sent out Absolute Exteriors to check on the damage they created during the roof install, and they claimed they came out on a day we were home (Mothers Day Weekend). They never rang the bell or had access to our locked side gate, but supposedly told Jessica they didn't damage our gutters based on what they saw that weekend. She therefore closed our case. My complaints were dismissed. Lastly, contractors we've had out to quote us for new gutters have been horrified by Sunrun's work not being up to code. I can't stress enough how important it is to stay away from this company. We joke that they have caused us more stress than we felt when my husband had a stroke in 2020. DO NOT GET INTO SOLAR PANELS. They will screw you over every which way. You do not save money because the bill is always high 7 months into the year due to no or barely any sun in the winter. You pay your bill, ComEd, and your monthly payment to Sunrun which goes up 11% every year. My panels didn't even work the first 2 years and the circuit box caught on fire for faulty wiring that they installed. I'm lawyering up now because they say I can't get out of my contract despite my house almost catching on fire. To top it off they installed part of the panels on the wrong side of the house and said I need to pay to reinstall them. read more

You're gonna receive two HIGH BILLS, , I have an issue with the battery,the system is not working, and I still have to pay two bills, the electricity bill, and their bill, they charge you over four dollars if you don't sign for auto pay, no service no one talks to you they all disappear. good luck if you find the phone number for the customer service they don't know anything . after they get you to sign a contract with them, long story short, they sell you to heaven when they want you to sign with them, you find yourself in H after you sign the contract . Sunrun stated that our solar system was covered by the government and there was no fees expected of us. Once everything was installed it worked well, then Sunrun started charging us $60.a month on top of our electricity bill lowering to an average of $17. a month. Fast forward to July 2024, there was a bad storm that caused 3 of our panels to blow off the roof. Here's where the real problem begins. We reached out to Sunrun several times and have been given the runaround. We still haven't had our issues resolved and it is now February 2025. On top of that we recently began receiving huge bills from Comed.Upon contacting Comed we discovered that our solar hadn't been producing power for several months and they still haven't resolved anything. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SUNRUN!!! I wanted to do something good for the planet and if I broke even on it I would be happy. I got a brand new system in 2022. I created a spreadsheet to compared what Sunrun said I was producing and what ComEd said I was producing, and I was showing a large discrepancy here. I am a project manager and track everything. The system was also costing me way more money that I paid before with no solar. I reached out to Sunrun to find out why this might be and was treated like an idiot and told I would need to talk to ComEd. The next month, after I made a fuss, my power stopped showing all together on the Sunrun side. I spent 6 months, this whole last summer of 2023, with no information on the power I was producing. 7 techs came out to look 7 different times with no answers or results. A tech that had come out 3 times already told me it was because Sunrun was too cheap to get me a new board. This is a brand-new system that was just installed. I still to this day cannot see what power I produced all last summer. I get zero help from customer service with countless emails and requests sent. From my experience this is a horrible company that does not care at all about its clients!! read more

This company is the worst. They made me sigh up for a 30 year lease, saying that I was going to save all this money, what they don't tell you is that PGE will charge you almost double of the amount the Sunrun bill per month ( true up) so my bill didn't change from before I had solar, so no savings at all. Sunrun called yesterday saying that my neighbors were not happy with their bill, I told them I was not happy either. After I told them what I thought about this company, the guy got real rude and short and hung up the phone one me. I live in Chicago and had a SunRun salesmen come to my door offering to help me apply for FREE (key word here) solar panels as part of the governments clean air initiative. So I apply and few days later find out I'm approved. Great so a guy comes back to take pics map out the roof and make sure I can support the panels and house is structuraly sound. Again APPROVED cool. So all this time I keep asking every employee of SunRun "SO YOU'RE SURE THIS IS FREE?" And every person assured me "YES ITS TOTALLY FREE , THE GOVERNMENT HAS ALREADY PAID US NOW WE ARE IN CHARGE OF FINDING PEOPLE WHO QUALIFY FOR THE PROGRAM". So I get 12 solar panels installed they install piping in my brick walls to connect to water line etc. I had to wait about a month for city inspection for it to be turned on. Basically by August I'm all good and panels are turned on. ALL OF A SUDDEN I GET A $60 BILL FROM SUNRUN. so I call them and they say "THIS IS MY MONTHLY BILL FOR THE SERVICE". WHAT? WHAT BILL? I NEVER APPROVED OR WAS TOLD ABOUT ANY BILL? So the panels so far lowered my electric bill about 20$ I usually paid about between $55 and $85 in electricity bills a month . Now with this $60 SunRun bill on top of my slightly lowered electric bill IM PAYING MORE THEN I WAS WITH JUST MY COMED BILL! AND NOW I can't get anyone to call me back. Look for ANOTHER company before it is too late! I spoke with a representative over the phone to make an appointment. The representative asked me some questions, including if a had a flat roof. After answering all questions, the representative informed me I was eligible to install solar panels in my house, therefore we made an appointment. Well, no one showed up for the appointment. When I call the representative that was supposed to come over to my house (Montrell Brooks), he informed me my appointment had been automatically cancelled because "you have a flat roof." I let him know about the questions I had to go over before making the appointment and he just basically said he did not know! I called customer service and, to my surprise, they informed me appointments are NOT cancelled automatically. The representative from customer service told me the service rep who was supposed to come to my house cancelled the appointment! WOW! So the service rep (Montrell Brooks) lied to me!!!
