My daughter was stranded in a rural town, with a flat tire, 15 minutes from Portage la Prairie…read more Call centre said they were dispatching someone to come and put on the spare. The app said they had contacted at least 3 tow truck companies. This started at 11 pm, nice weather, and by 1:30 am, I loaded up my 2 yr old granddaughter to go pick her up because it was obvious no one was coming. Next day we contacted the tow company in Portage, who said they received no call out. I phoned CAA to inquire why this happened; girl who answered said the tow company lied to me. The call centre also said we could have made our own arrangements and then applied for reimbursement. If I have to do it myself, I will and save the membership fee. Absolutely abhorrent customer service.

I had my starter fail on my car, so I was told by my dealership that a CAA Tow Truck would be at my…read morecar in 60 mins. I thought Wow! Perfect, they are usually horrible to deal with. I actually asked my dealership to find me anyone but CAA, but they said that is who they sent. So Wow! 60 mins. So I got there in 30 mins due to it breaking down the night before. So I get to my car and wait, and wait, and wait, with no response from CAA, so I call them going into my 3rd hour of waiting and hearing nothing from them. So the guy says oh it is because of the cold is the reason why they are taking so long. It is only -20 C in Winnipeg, with no wind, no snow. This is a normal day in January in Winnipeg. There is no terrible weather here or emergency due to bad weather. It gets a lot colder here, like -50 C, -20 C isn't even toque weather here. So he says, they will arrive in 60 mins or less because he had 2 people ahead of me. So I wait, another 3 hrs before he finally shows up. My initial call with the tow truck driver was you better be there or I am leaving. I said, I am here and have been now for 6 hrs waiting on you, I'm not going anywhere, just get here as soon as you can. They used Apex Towing. The customer service and experience of using CAA was once again the worst of the worst, although they did actually show up this time, unlike the last time I was forced to use them 12 years ago and they never bothered showing up so I hired out of pocket another company who had nothing good to say about CAA either. There is a very good reason why I have never and will never, ever buy a CAA membership. They are just God freaking awful. Avoid at all costs, unless you like waiting 6+ hrs and wasting a day.

Christine is so dedicated to helping her customers that she even took my call when I had accidentally called her on a day she was closed. Despite the fact she was closed, she still spent a good quarter of an hour answering all of my questions, doing so in a cordial and thorough manner. At no time did she rush me. One does not often find this level of dedication to customer service these days. I therefore recommend her agency, without hesitation. The next time I travel, Christine will be my travel agent.

Long story short form: DO NOT purchase travel insurance from CAA. Our claim has been delayed while…read moreGlobal Excel continues to request documents that we have already completed and sent...looks like they just want to keep our money. TO be fair, CAA was adequate and were efficient on the SALES end of their travel insurance package, but you never really know how good your insurance is until you file a claim. In this case CAA is acting as a broker for Global Excel Insurance but we called CAA (we are members) and got the rundown on what the insurance would and would not cover. We decided to trust CAA. Turned out this time we did need the insurance so we went to a walk in clinic as it was open on a Saturday...the day our flight was leaving. We woke up sick that day but we realized we needed medical evidence for our claim. After several weeks, we were asked to complete forms to process the claim. When I asked Global for assistance with the forms I was explicitly told I did not need the Medical certificate completed because we had provided the doctor's note with our original documents. Weeks pass and I got an email from Global asking for the medical certificate again. Again I called and was told very clearly that I should just ignore this request. Weeks pass and again I was asked to provide the Medical certificate to be completed by the examining physician. Again I phoned to ask for clarification, this time told to yes, have the examining doctor complete the form. (So that's 2 for no, 1 for yes) Did so...by now it has been 6 months since submitting our original claim. Again I received an email requesting the Medical certificate, which has already been sent! Grrrr. Having been patient thus far, it's time to offer my review as a consumer of the product. If CAA is still insisting on using Global Excel as the insurer, DO NOT buy travel insurance from CAA, you will probably regret it!

Reserved and paid in full with Winnipeg CAA, a 9 day car rental with Europcar rental Mexico…read more(HUX-March 2018). Once at the local office in Mexico, Europcar insisted on us paying for their CDW insurance and would not accept our credit card insurance. As outlined on the contract, we came with a letter of proof from our credit card insurance provider. In order to continue our vacation in Mexico, we had no choice but to pay the CDW insurance($US302). When we returned home to Canada, I contacted the manager at Winnipeg CAA(Andrew Taylor) as CAA was my travel agent and responsible for my vacation bookings. They did nothing to try and resolve the fraudulent scam and would not return my phone calls and blocked my email address. Extremely poor customer service.
