If you're looking for a full carniceria and panaderia, this is not that -- try the C-Town in Fairhaven. This is the store where after you bought your taco meat at the butcher down the block, here you're going to get your tortillas (the blue corn ones are magnificent), your spices, and some beans. There is a small refrigerated section that I think has cheese. If you want lettuce and such, haul yourself around the block to one of the delis on Orange Street. There's a freezer up front with paletas, which in summer is extremely welcome. There are lots of snacks, including a wide range of Bimbo pastries in two-packs, compact but comparable in usefulness to QT in Arizona. (These are the Mexican Twinkie-equivalent and so much better.) It's equivalent in size and scope to the Asian markets on the same street, so if this is your moment for making Korean-fusion tacos, State Street is where to do it.
