"Are you going to check in here?"
"I already did," I say sheepishly.
"Are you going to write a review?"
Now I feel challenged. "Maybe. Nobody else has."
He thinks the lady doth protest* too much. "That's because it's a gas station.... Will you write about that kid being emo?"
Well, she does. "Maybe. He is!"
His emo haircut could not BE any more '90s (as '90s as Chandler Bing's voice emphasizing that infinitive), but a lot of Central Pennsylvania is in a fashion time warp, so this is standard. This is my favorite gas station - if people have those things - because it's right off the I-80 exit/ramp in Bloomsburg, PA and has self-service gas at cheaper prices than in Selinsgrove or Lewisburg, PA and New York City, my usual endpoints when passing through. Half a costly tank from NYC allows me a stop here to fill up on gas for the rest of my trip, and I always fill to full on my return trips to save a little on gas back here. Convenient and wallet-friendly! There are lots of snacks, plenty of bottled caffeinated beverages, and an available restroom.
Emo cashier was a nice enough kid, likely bored to death. Scott H. nearly purchased a $12 one-pound package of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (just 2 cups), and the boy perked up enough to emo-smile and share a bit of trivia: they hadn't managed to sell a single package yet.
