I rented an 18 seater pontoon and it was a fantastic experience. I expected it to be smaller but it fit 18 people without any issues and the seats were comfortable and good quality. The young gentleman at the dock helped park when necessary and filled up the gas when needed. Came with a full tank of gas that lasted several rides over multiple days. There wasn't any extra rules or unexpected costs. I was happily surprised by the experience. Decent speakers and the radio supported Bluetooth. Just wish they had fishing electronics to locate those fish! read more

Never enjoy badmouthing local businesss but I assure you oscoda theres a massive hole in the boat rental market! what a massive let down! they made us deliver ourselves a broken pontoon boat. vacationing from out of town so navigating a lake the size of van etten took longer than I expected but was a cool adventure. BUT my rental expired unexpectedly one day early. they sent two "gentleman " to reclaim the vessel, smoking cigarettes through our family vacation. extremely unprofessional, sketchy equipment at best... 100% under delivered with the rental as well as the customer service. Although the family had a nice time on the water fishing the boat was awful. Before going on we almost reconsidered. Gauges didn't work at all said we had no gas and the speedometer didn't work. The interior looked like it was about 10 plus years old falling apart, cup holders were broken, no anchor, the canopy was wrapped with tape and held down by bungee cords. $250 for 4 hours is a great price but I can see why that's all they charge. Should be about $100 at most for the POS I was on. Place is a little sketchy when you pull up to it as well just a little blue shack and that's it. read more

Tried to rent a pontoon but that failed miserably. Made a reservation for July 5th in Oscoda, only to receive a phone call the morning of that "someone backed the boat into a tree during transport and the float need to be repaired." Now c'mon...do you think i'm stupid! During the conversation to make my reservation, they said that they might be short staffed that week but because I have a reservation, it would be done! No so much! Will not bother calling them again! read more

3 out of 5 stars is the best I could give SunnyBunns for only one reason. Communication. Communication amongst employees seemed to be very poor & lousy. We rented a Pontoon boat on lovely Foote Damn Pond about 5-6 miles East if Oscoda. But getting to the boat was another story. Employees told us to go to old orchard campsite just a mile or two north of the boat launch at Foote Dam Pond. That campsite they told us to go to had closed barriers blocking road and not one sunnybunn employee was waiting in their pavilion where they told us to be at the right time. Okay that's not cool right? So we try calling sunnybuns phone number roughly 15 times and never got ahold of someone. Mind you they already took our money for the rental so it was our job apparently to find out what was going on? So I had to drive 8 miles back to town to their rental shack they have in town to actually talk to a employee. I did get greeted very politely young guy. I think he could tell I was upset but who wouldn't be after you paid $250 to rent a boat and they weren't where they said they'd be or answering their phone. He then admitted he gave us the wrong address To where the boat is actually launching from that day and said the boat is at the boat launch Just south of the campsite. He then stepped aside and made a phone call two his coworkers We then were told the owner had to leave so two younger adults/teenagers were waiting for us. So then we had to travel 6 miles back to the Foote Dam pond to the boat launch and we FINALLY found them. They seemed nice enough. I was just irritated with having to run around and find out what was going on. Not cool. I am a honest guy so I do have to review the positive of the trip too! After that headache finding out what the F was going on we were given a lovely pontoon boat for our 4 hour rental. Foote Dam pond is amazingly beautiful and huge! There could be a lot of boats out there but it's so big you don't have to worry about being super close to people and other boaters. We did on fact have a lovely time on the boat Tho. So final review is 2/5 maybe 3/5 only because of their communication and lack of information. The boat ran great and the pond we were on was amazing but Kinda wish I got a phone call back after leaving voicemails. Apology from the owner of the operation would've been nice but that's just what I would've done if I made someone go through that crap. If my friends/family was looking for a rental in Oscoda I honestly wouldn't tell my friends/family to go through them. But they might have a better experience than I had. read more

So this business seems to have multiple locations, for this review i will be referring to the rental shack on the beach of the Tawas Bay Beach Resort behind the tiki bar. They rent 2 three seater jet skis, an old pontoon boat, and some paddle boards here. The prices are comparable to other rental places in the area, but the service is terrible. If it wasn't for the convenience of their location by the beach resort, they would probably be out of business. It seems 2 15 year olds work here and sit in the shack with their girlfriends all day and are disgusted to have to help you when you walk up. We rented 2 jet skis for an hour on a Monday afternoon, we waited past our 1pm reservation time for the last group to show up. 1 machine had ample gas, the other had less than half a tank. After an hour on the water, i was coming in on fumes as i was nervous i would run out of gas in the middle of the bay for the last 20 minutes of our rental time. The kid was indifferent and just said "You need to pay now." Even though i'm only 20, my father was with me as well and it's no way to treat customers like you are half asleep or coming off a hangover. read more

Same as the other reviewer. If I could i would give them a zero. My friend rented a pontoon boat and when he showed up on the lake, this thing looked 20 years old and like it had never been covered up. Mildew and rips all through the interior. And the kicker is when he rented it he was told it had been having engine problems and it was made to seem like they were not big issues. But after the 1st stop the boat never restarted and it took them like an hour to come out and get it going. And was then harassed by the employee for not knowing the secret code to start the boat (although several avid boaters unsuccessfully also tried to start the boat). For the cost you would expect a boat that is maybe 2-5 years old and well maintained. I would suggest a canoe rental down the Ausable before renting from this place. read more

There service was decent but their boat quality was VERY POOR!!! All of the boats that were for rent were from the 80s and hadn't been up kept since then either. The engine trim was broke so it couldn't be brought up or down, it boasted a whopping 10ft of rope for the anchor which made it impossible to anchor off anywhere to let the kids swim. The boat broke down a couple hours into the trip luckily the owner was near by and switched boats with us so we could get our family back. What struck me as appalling was when the owner was trying to get our boat running the owners business partner/employee and/or friends were sitting around not doing anything except drinking and making sexual comments under their breath toward my wife while she and I were in the water trying to steady the boat so it didn't hit other people's boats all the while in the presents of our young children. Before you commit to renting a boat from this company I would seriously make sure you look it over thoroughly or better yet look into a company that provides newer and/or up kept equipment. There are a lot of other companies in the area research before you commit!!! read more

If I could give Sunny Bunns Boat Rental in Oscoda a rating of zero, I would. I cannot speak for the entire business but I can say nothing but negative comments about the man who rented my famil a pontoon boat at the Sunny Bunns Campground. I do not know his name but if this gives you any indication of his professionalism, his t-shirt read "Beer Me." Before we began our 8 hour day on the rented pontoon boat, this man told my father that the boat didn't run great and it would be difficult to start at times. At the very start of our day, the gas meter read close to 'E', therefore, we thought it was broken. We did not begin driving the boat until about 10:45am and ran out of gas by 1:30pm. We did not exceed the allotted capacity for the boat, nor were we driving around for the whole time. Despite the beer man telling us that the gas should last us all day, we were left stranded by 1:30pm. So we called him and asked that he bring us gas so we could finish our allotted time with the pontoon, which we paid for until 6pm that evening. When he arrived he was extremely rude and unprofessional. He called my mother snotty and continued to be sarcastic and disrespectful to everyone on the boat. This was not a group of drunk college students, but a family including young children and my elderly grandmother. After he left we were very upset with his service and felt ripped off of boating time we had paid for; however, we tried to move on and enjoy the rest of the time we had on the pontoon. When we arrived at 6pm to return the pontoon boat at the dock, the beer man did not say a word to us. As we were walking to our car we noticed he brought a group of 3 individuals with him. They were talking quietly under their breath about us and mimicking some of the men in our group. When asked what the problem was, the man continued to argue with my husband, mother, and sister for at least 10 minutes. He never backed down but instead continued to mock and disrespect his customers. I would NEVER in my life go anywhere near this place of business and have no idea how someone like this could remain employed. I sincerely hope he is let go so others do not have to withstand an experience similar to ours. read more
