Our AC stopped working but we were not urgently needing an AC replacement yet until my husband reminded me in the winter about how we needed to look into an AC replacement. We love our realtor so we contacted these guys (sometime in December of 2019) to look into a replacement. The owner was fabulous and was able to work with us on what we needed to get done. AND because we were planning on replacing our AC during the winter, it was great to get the order and service done. In fact, they came to check out what we needed to get done and then order the part and replaced our AC within 1-2 weeks. They were great and easy to work with. We had the AC stop working this past summer one of the hottest days during the weekend and we got someone come out here pretty quickly to replace the part and work with us. They did honor the service card that we received and was honestly done within 1 hour. Very fortunate for these guys and highly recommend them.

During the most recent snow/ice storm I requested service. in the area most people are dealing with icy roads/driveways due to freezing temperatures and lack of supplies. This company refused to pull in my driveway in their VAN. I made arrangements for them to park in my neighbors plowed yard the next day they refused to walk on the ice to service my home. The tech guy waited in his van for about 15 minutes then left no call or anything. I tried calling back 3 separate times no answer when I finally called from my husband's number someone magically answered. While I'm not at liberty to put anyone's safety at risk if this is an issue that you have had and you witnessed my street/ road conditions why not just decline the service instead of making me continue to wait only to be told after day 2 that you can't service me. And the only concern you have is that you have had 2 technicians come out to waste time and money. Nevermind the fact I have no normal heat running. I Researched for a company as my husband chose another company that mis diagnosed our system which at that point cost us $2500 (that's another story) This company had very good reviews so we went with them. Rob (Robert) is the Comfort advisor that came to our home after the tech (he was very personable per my husband) did his assessment of the system. After speaking with Rob he gave us the cost to replace the outdoor unit and indoor coil at half the cost of what the last company was charging. Rob was straight forward (New Yorker Like us) and wasn't pushy and no up selling. We appreciate his candor and when I had questions he was quick to respond to my texts and answer promptly . They have always changed out the filter for me for free as long as I purchase the filter materials. However the last few times dealing with this company has been absolutely horrible. On 2 separate occasions I have had to call the office because an outrageous bill was sent to me listing services that I did not request and were not performed. Mind you the company is less than 7 mins from my home, and it only takes the worker approximately 9 mins at most to change out the filter as I am here at home while they are doing it. The first bill I received was for $140 worth of charges of which they apologized saying I should have never been charged anything. The latest bill was for $91 of which I called over there explaining to the gentleman who answered the phone and was extremely rude and condescending saying, " we had to come out there didn't we? " I advised him if he looked at the times they have come out they have always done this for free being that they installed the system, and as long as I provided the filter. Im not sure if the gentleman at the office was new or just didn't feel like looking up the information but again he was extremely rude. I checked with 2 other local companies of which one is in downtown Richmond and they even advised if its a unit their company sold and installed that is typically something they will work into their schedule and just change while in route to another location. I was actually going to see about having Adams install a new HVAC in the future but after these last few instances they have lost my trust and will now lose my business. I will be posting this also on other sites to make sure customers are aware of how this company attempts to charge for additional services that were not completed or asked for.

However, the overall experience was extremely disappointing and felt misleading. When I called to schedule the service, I was quoted $129 for the first hour and $99 per hour after that. Later, I found out the actual pricing was $129 for the first 30 minutes and $179 per hour after that. That is a huge difference and was not clearly explained upfront. When Josh arrived, he spent time changing the filters, checking the floor vents and walking up and down the stairs. I initially assumed changing my filter was being done as a courtesy. Mind you the filter where mine and I already had them in my home. I could have done that on my own if I was aware of the time constraints. However, that time was apparently billable. He also did not seem very skilled or confident in diagnosing the issue. We had to assist him in figuring out which unit controlled the upper and lower levels of the home. Although he was nice, he spent a lot of time talking and over-explaining without completing a clear diagnostic. It later felt like the excessive talking and unnecessary tasks were used to extend the billable time. Once told where the leakage was coming from he did not follow my suggestion he continued looking a the wrong unit! Once he finally began the diagnostic portion, it started raining, and he said he would return the next day to finish the job. Before he left, I asked if I could just pay the diagnostic fee. He said yes, but then told me my total was $399 for him being there a little over an hour. This was completely different from what I was originally told and felt very unfair. Overall, I felt misled by the pricing, overcharged for time that did not result in a completed diagnostic, and disappointed by the lack of skill and transparency. I would not recommend this company. He wanted to come back the next day to finish the job. I declined once I was notified that my payment today would not applied toward the completion of the job.
