Paul does not return calls or emails....very strange. They will not sit down with you prior to taxes being due. They expect you to turn everything in electronically or at the receptionist desk. Super excited to write this review. I have had my taxes done by Sundin & Fish for the last few years, not just that but I take advantage of their payroll services and they have also helped me with a few investment questions. I meet with them several times throughout the year because it's worth it to me to stay on track. Mostly nothing changes, but I usually have questions about different things I hear and there have been minor adjustments we did that helped me at the end of the year. They do not charge me fees whenever I meet with them. But mostly, what I appreciate about them is they tell me what I need to do, no fluff. Whether I talk to Paul, Jason, Jeanice, Ryan or Nate. My life is super busy, but it's nice having such an amazing team to turn to whenever I have questions or when it's tax time. As a client for over 10 years I am extremely disappointed in this firm. When IRS sent me an amount due letter for the third time since they've been doing my taxes I started questioning why so many errors. I called Paul Sundin and asked that he look into this and he acted like it was not his job and a burden. following that conversation he did not call me back on schedule, and has not returned any of my dozen or so calls or emails. I was forced to try and research this myself and ended up talking to the IRS who said there were discrepancies going back to 2016 "at least". I'm very surprised and upset that a CPA firm would not return calls and not support their Clients. Extremely unprofessional. I have paid them $700 for personal tax prep only to be abandoned when there is a problem. Previously, I used H&R Block for many years and there was never an error in my tax prep. 3 times in 10 years not only raises questions but trust issues especially when they won't respond. read more

I've gone through too many accountants in my day, for some reason I just can't like them. They are either too pushy, have no sense of humor or just suck at what they do. I was recommended to Paul from someone else and I haven't been happier. I don't think anyone likes to see their accountant because it usually means that you have to pay money to someone, either to them or the IRS, but it's life. Paul has always been there and has helped me with any questions I have and doesn't nickle and dime you. This firm has been great at not only tax preparation but with tax planning. If you just want a tax return done then you have many options. But I think the key is to make sure that you have a plan in place that can save you money on taxes. They have always done a great job communicating with me and providing me with tax updates. I just filed out taxes with Sundin & Fish and unfortunately, I don't have good news to share. The gal I worked with was basically an order taker, equivilant to working at McDonalds. She wanted me to tell her what I wanted to do. Offered ZERO advice or guidance on tax credits, deductions, the process of paying the IRS or receiving a refund. Dug? Why am I paying you then? I know little about taxes, so it felt like the blind leading the blind. Dont pay this company hundreds of dollars to file your taxes if you expect any guidance. If you want to pay someone for data entry into Turbo Tax, then by all means, go with them. Something you could probably do yourself at home for free. They expect you to know their job. read more

If it was possible, they would get a negative rating from me. I couldn't get anyone to call me back with my concern. They filed my return wrong and avoided returning my calls. When they asked what I would like for them to do, I suggested a discount off the fee of $270 they charged me. The employees first response after asking "what would I like them to do" was "we can't do this for free". I again suggested a discount. He first said he would take 20% next years return but added the disclaimer at the end of the sentence " we will have to look to see what we can do at that time". I asked him again what he can do not what he thinks maybe possible next year. He then said he could give me $50 off next year. Which doesn't help me because I would never use this company for anything even if it was free. If they make mistakes on the little details, how can I continue to trust them to handle something as important as my tax returns. They barely admitted they made a mistake. read more

Unfortunately, I don't have a good thing to share regarding the practice of Sundin & Fish. As a new business owner with little to no tax knowledge, I trusted the practice to guide me. Let's face it, from the outside, this firm is very regal and appears to be the end all be all for accounting firms. The first year the firm did our taxes, it was easy and painless. The moment I started asking for help or asking questions I would receive, that will cost you $120+ per hour, we don't give info over the phone and I'd get referred to some website to search for an answer. After paying hundreds of dollars for completed returns, an SCorp filing and a DBA filing and not knowing how to move forward, I called. Once again, I was told it was a fee to talk to them. The receptionist Jeanie, along with both Fish brothers, speak down to their customers-they have little to no respect and are completely unwilling to help-even after spending HUNDREDS of dollars for their services. It's as if they expect you to know how to do their job and get annoyed and frustrated when you don't know tax. I've NEVER received such horrific service from what appeared to be a reputable company. I'm at year end, didn't pull a salary, never was explained what needed to happen and I'm needing to have a salary shown NOW. Well, isn't that great...there goes my income for the rest of the year because the estimates they provided were far from accurate. I've sought out someone new for my taxes and have since learned that the little I was guided to do was very shady and unethical. read more

I have had Ryan Fish one of the partners in this accounting firm complete both personal and business tax returns for the last 4 years. Although I always felt he did not explain things that well and felt rushed every time I went into his office to have my returns completed I did not think a lot about it until this year. Because myself and my husband are going through an OIC with the IRS we had to change how we get paid through our business. In the past Ryan has completed our business returns as if we are contracted to our company. Although it is not illegal the IRS frowns down on filing and paying taxes this way. Because we participate in our company we are considered statutory employees and as such should be filing this way we did not know this until we went through the audit for the OIC. We also were not told that we had to either complete a 1099 ourselves or pay additional fee to have Ryan complete it. Because of the way he filed our tax returns the DES from AZ has also come after our company for back unemployment taxes adding on penalties and interest. We understand from the DES it does not matter how we file we should have paid the unemployment taxes. This was a HUGE surprise to us. When I requested Ryan attend an audit with the DES he washed his hands of the whole thing stating that he told us to file as employees which he did not. Needless to say I have severed ties with Ryan and so have others that I recommended him to. He is rude especially in his emails and acts like everyone that goes to him knows everything about taxes. If I did do you think I would pay him a lot of money to do the returns? He takes no time to advise or explain. I understand that they are not supposed to tell you what to do but they can certainly advise and he fell really short of that. Sorry this is such a long story but wanted to explain why I gave the rating I did. I have not done business with Nathan Fish or Paul Sundin who are also partners in this firm so cannot commit on them. This firm specializes in small business returns so he should have known. read more
