To start off, Oklahoma has arcane liquor laws and a litany of restrictions. However, I have found more knowledgeable workers in liquor stores in Oklahoma than in most other areas. Sundance is one of the best.
Given the way Oklahoma laws work, liquor stores are limited to what a handful of distributors carry, but this is generally a larger selection than any store is going to have on hand. Because of this, almost all of them can and will special order anything from the distributor's list. One of the special things about Sundance is that the owners know how to stock. The store is not terribly large, but the shelves hold plenty of variety. The point of all this is that while you can special order the same stuff almost anywhere, you can often find it already in stock here. The variety of sake, Japanese shochu, and Koreaj soju available in Oklahoma is pretty weak, but I know if I go to Sundance, it will be there. The biggest limitation is in beer, which demands a lot of shelf space for a large variety. You can get a nice variety of single bottles to try out though.
The staff is quite friendly as well and informed enough to make solid suggestions on almost anything. read more
