Greg at Sundance knows his trees. We have used him on seven or eight jobs as we landscaped our property. Nice person to do business with. He is always busy - but since the storms last month, he must be working non-stop. Most of his work for us has been in removing older trees or trimming trees for a better shape. We have not used him for tree planting. read more

We used Sundance to remove two trees that were damaged during the last storm and cable one giant oak tree. Greg's estimate was fair, compared to two other companies, and he was the only one who came in person to talk it over. Work was done quickly and the clean up was perfect. We have worked with two other companies before but for future work we'll certainly call Sundance again. read more

I called on May 20 to get a quote for trimming a bunch of dead branches off a large oak tree in my backyard. Greg came by my house that weekend and gave me a quote, which came in several hundred dollars less than another tree company. He warned me at that point that he was pretty busy, but expected to be able to come by in the next couple weeks. A few weeks later I got a call from Greg telling me that he was hoping to come by soon but he didn't show up and didn't call back. In the meantime, several large branches fell on their own, but luckily nobody was injured and there was no significant damage. Finally on July 16, almost two months after the initial call, Greg called to tell me he would be there the next day. This time he did show up as promised and he did a fine job cutting down the dead branches and thoroughly cleaning up the branches afterwards. They did leave a few things behind in our yard (an old towel, etc.), but I think that was just an oversight. I understand that this was probably a small job for them, but I would have appreciated a call or two to tell me they were too busy or the weather was uncooperative and they would be delayed several weeks. I definitely would not hire them again if I needed work done quickly, but maybe okay to give a call if you don't mind waiting around for two months. read more

Greg has helped with all of my tree maintenance over the past 7 years. I had him take down trees, perform deep root fertilizing,and repair storm damage. He is conscientious and an animal lover. He's the first person I call for my tree needs. read more

The bottom line is that Greg is probably a nice enough guy, but was unprofessional and somewhat abrasive in how he managed the work, and we would never recommend or use him again. Specifically, we recently bought a house and needed some limbs from a large ash tree trimmed, and a stump ground. Greg's quote was a bit cheaper than some of the others we received, so we referred two of our neighbors to him to have their stumps ground as well. We set up the work for a specific day, but that day Greg didn't show up, and didn't call to let us know. We left a voicemail wondering when he'd be able to do the work, as Greg had requested to use our neighbor's driveway and we wanted to be courteous about when this would happen (especially as new neighbors). Three days later, Greg called back and scheduled the work for the end of the following week. For the second time, when that day came, he didn't show up and didn't call. After leaving another message, we again heard back several days later, and finally he did the work about a week after that (this was the third time we'd scheduled it). The work was acceptable, though he did leave all of our deck furniture strewn in a pile in the corner, rather than returning it to where it had been, which wouldn't have been difficult. He left a paper invoice at our doorstep, and since the stump grinding was scheduled for the following week with a subcontractor, we waited for the stump to be ground so we could send a single check. The stump was ground when scheduled. About a week after the stump was ground, Greg left a fairly hostile voicemail demanding payment, upset that it had been 2-3 weeks since the first part of the work was done. We sent him a check for all of the work immediately, but it was just annoying that he obviously kept close track of time and decided to use his phone when it had to do with getting paid, but not when it came to common courtesy and the satisfaction of a client. read more
