We went for a ride last night. On the website it says to prepare for a 45-1.5 hour ride. I think that if it were to go 1.5 hours it would be a little excessive, but, once the 30 minute mark hit, our pilot was looking for a place to land. The other balloon that took off with us went higher, went longer, and went further than we did hands down. I think our pilot was just tired, since both he, and his helper lady told us that'd "already done this once today, and it gets tiring" My husband paid 500$ for us to go on this ride - and it was a little shorter than expected. We also both hurt our knees on the landing - so make sure you bend those knees - or even sit the hell down, cuz it hurts. Other than that, would I go again with the promise it would be a little longer - absolutely.

7 members of my family ended our recent family vacation with a hot air balloon ride in Winnipeg and it was spectacular! My wife and I were visiting from our home in British Columbia and weren't able to go when we came back last year, so we were thrilled that the weather held out and we could have our ride this visit. Our pilot Pablo and his crew were truly amazing, and made it an unforgettable experience with their talent, care, knowledge, and warm friendly natures. The whole evening felt like a family gathering and we felt special the entire time! And this is a PERFECT opportunity for all, even those typically afraid of heights! Many in our group were nervous but were beyond impressed by how smooth, gentle, and fear-free the whole ride was! We would go back again in a heartbeat. Thank you Sundance and thank you Pablo and crew for a truly unforgettable and magical experience!! read more

My husband and I had the most wonderful flight experience this evening in Winnipeg. Our pilot Pablo was just an absolute delight and he took great care of us and the other passengers. We will be recommending him to all of our friends. read more

No chance to refund. Unpredictable, the online booking software is unable to complete bookings, weird takeoff timing, and there is a deadline for use. read more

We wish to thank our pilot Mateo and the crew for a wonderful evening flight on July 15-2025. Mateo is very professional and with a sense of humor and explaining all facets of hot air ballooning along with some personal experiences . Had a beautiful evening which ended with champagne and how hot air ballooning began. GREAT time. Thanks. Marilyn Kaus and Wayne Macleod. read more

Not Recommend for those who want what they paid for within a reasonable time frame Review of Sundance Balloons Pending review I would not recommend anyone purchase a Sundance Balloon experience, especially as a gift. I purchased vouchers as a Christmas gift in November of 2017. Since then I have continually booked a flight multiple times every year, spring, summer and fall. Every time the flight was cancelled due to various conditions, the last being it was too hot to fly (July 13, 2024). I asked for a refund but the company is stead fast in its no refund policy. If you buy be prepared to wait years to get the service you paid for, if at all. NOTE: I was forced to complete the "When did you go?" criteria so simply entered Aug 2024 so this review could be submitted. I am still waiting for my flight. read more

Lo and behold worst customer service ever. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!! canceled our 3rd flight!! WORST!! WORST!!. WANT MY MONEY BACK! I am so pissed with the service and the attitude of the business. I booked the flight for today evening at 5pm (Aug 18) and we were told at 2:30pm that the flight was canceled. We had to arrange someone for our kiddo and we had to cancel it last minute. There were no evening flights and the ones available are on weekends which is $100 extra. I called them to adjust us for weekends for no extra charge as it was last minute cancellation. I am NOT impressed and so pissed. read more

(Reviewing for London,ON area - Northland Mall AM morning flight) The opportunity is mind blowing to experience an adventure like this one - BUCKET LIST ITEM COMPLETED. I decide to treat my mother on one of my wild adventures - since there was a great Groupon deal along with a promo code; who would say no? (Not I!) Please note - due to the weather; it's a hit or miss try of job. We literally had to reschedule 3 times before we had good flying (floating) weather to cruise through. The crew we were assigned was freaking amazing - told jokes, made sure everyone was feeling comfortable, and etc. (Top notch hospitality) They even pop 3 bottle of champagne at the end and of course they had to toast for our safe/happy landing. Don't be scared or even over think - they are well trained. There were a total of 12 passengers and 1 pilot - there's not really a lot of room to be moving around; I highly suggest checking the weight limit as well. Even though we had to drive 2 hrs to get there - we have no regrets. My mother hasn't stopped smiling since we left. "Up, Up, and Away" read more

Up and Away! Sundance Ballooning offers hot air balloon rides across difference parts of Canada, from London to Ottawa, to Calgary and Vancouver. Prices are usually around $275/ride (which in total, from pre-ride to post-ride set-ups, will take a total of 3 hours; you'll be up in the air for about 60 min.) However, keep your eyes open on groupon.com (ex: http://www.groupon.com/deals/sundance-balloons-1). You can get a ride for a fraction of the original price. I went solo. It was supposed to be on a Thursday, but you must call them from 11 pm the night before, to confirm conducive weather conditions. My ride was postponed to Friday. When you're up there, the licenced hot air balloon pilot can't steer, so you're subject to gusts of wind encouraging which direction your balloon goes in. I wouldn't worry about "height", as long as you're in good health. I recommend just not looking directly down (get your camera to do that for you, and make sure it's well secured to your person). The crew are all friendly, experienced, tres bilingue. One thing I enjoyed most was hearing the pilot's stories of piloting in Australia and especially in Africa (where he spoke of seeing lions daily, and of hippos). I also liked hearing about the background of hot air ballooning! The only thing I disliked, and it was minor overall, was having to stay up until 11 pm to hear the updated message, and then to wake up around 5:30 am to get myself ready for a morning taxi. Ugh - the taxi company really had no real idea of how it'd take me to get to the meeting spot; I arrived 25 min. too early. Precious sleep time, especially to someone like me who doesn't usually have satisfying sleep nowadays! Would have been worse to be late, though. Sundance will wait only 10 min. for anyone. (Meeting times are either at 6 or 7 am, another thing to be confirmed the night before). ~~ Yes, I would wholeheartedly recommend Sundance, and the experience. Provided that you're interested in going up, up, and away in a hot air balloon! Try to get the Groupon version, if you're flexible with timing. I had to go once, if only to get it out of my system. They keep on cancelling their flights even on a perfectly beautiful sunny day and I agree with the previous post. This is such a hassle that they make you call 11pm the night before to find out if the flight is cancelled or not for a morning flight - this is too much of a hassle when you have to wake up at 4am to get there on time to catch the sunrise and you don't even know where you're going. read more

Review written Wednesday, July 6, 2016 The following is our list of flight date bookings, all of which have been cancelled. 2015 TUESDAY, JULY 7, 2015 TUESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2015 WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26, 2015 MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2015 MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2015 2016 TUESDAY, MAY 17, 2016 WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1, 2016 WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15, 2016 WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22, 2016 TUESDAY, JULY 5, 2016 For each booking, we have to phone at 11:00 p.m. the preceding evening to see if the flight has been cancelled or not. Our meet-up time the following morning would be 6:30 A.M. and this short time span requires lots of pre-planning on our part as we are an approx. 45 minute drive from the take-off location. We are not even sure of the take-off location as this will be identified by Sundance if our flight is going. Understandably, some flights have been cancelled for obvious forecast reasons. i.e., forecast of poor visibility, low ceilings, showers, winds, etc. and we are glad Sundance takes these precautions. However, friends and family see Sundance hot air balloons flying in North London all the time and even take pictures of them to prove it! In spite of a very favourable forecast, last night our Tuesday, July 5, 2016 was cancelled on account of a forecast of winds. But today the weather is sunny, clear, and there is not even a speck of wind. We believe Sundance Balloons is scamming us and catering to new customers and cancelling and postponing their previous ones as they already have the income from the Groupon tickets. There is absolutely no reason we have had 10 flight bookings cancelled in the last two seasons and have not had Sundance Balloons make an appropriate arrangement for us (maybe even later in the day) This is not acceptable customer service and we are very unhappy with Sundance Balloons. The Pilot (On the 11:00pm recording) is very polite and sympathetic and tells us to rebook and fly soon, but we have come to believe these Groupon vouchers are not being taken seriously by Sundance Balloons and we have lost both the ride plus the large amount of money that our kids paid for them. read more

Definitely a case of "buyer-beware". Sundance Balloons demands payment ($600/couple) in full upfront and offers no refunds - this should have been my first clue. With money firmly in hand, they then use any number of weak excuses to never, ever, fly. "The wind is too light", "The wind is too strong", "There's a high pressure system", "There's a low pressure system"... Blabbering a bunch of meteorological jargon on their "Flight-Line" messages is how they justify cancelling the flights without ever being challenged. When I called to rebook the flight I also inquired as to why the flight was cancelled. Their website only says that sustained winds above 18 km/h (10 knots) are deemed to be too dangerous to fly. Nevertheless, I was informed that on this beautiful 25C day with winds between 5 and 10 km/h that I can't rely on the regular weather. In fact treacherous winds were raging at the exact elevation that the pilot intended to fly. I am not a meteorologist and I could never verify any of this for myself, but this is officially why the flight was cancelled. This morning I have read a number of reviews from other people and found this is their M.O. time-and-time-again. As to my request for a rebooking, I was informed... "Oh darn, we're all done with bookings for this season but you can call us back next year in May." Did I mention that the $600 voucher expires after one year? Did I mention how happily they took my $600 and fit me into their jam-packed season only two weeks ago? It is only AFTER THEY TAKE MY MONEY, that the SEASON is suddenly OVER and their BOOKINGS are suddenly FULL. The Sundance Balloon Business Model... 1. Take all money up front with no mechanism for refunding or guaranteeing anything. 2. Make loose commitments to customers with zero accountability (Few of us are meteorologists and as such, we are unable to verify/confirm any of the excuses offered for not flying) 3. Wait until voucher expires and/or the customer gives up 4. Repeat as many times as possible. read more

A friend and I, who had not seen each other in 40 years, made plans to attend the week of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. We booked our Balloon Ride well in advance. The day before and after, it was too windy to fly...so thankfully we had the perfect day! It was also the International Day, so the Balloon Pilots were flying the flags of their country! Very cool! Our Pilot was CJ who was there from Canada with his crew and balloon (Sundance Balloons I believe) to assist Rainbow Ryders with the large amount of folks flying. I mentioned that our flag was not the Canadian Flag, and he laughed and said he is from Sri Lanka, and it was his home flag! He communicated with all of us in the balloon and with his crew (Chasers) Laura and Roland. You would have never known he was not from Albuquerque! He told us the history of ballooning in Albuquerque, talked about the areas as we flew over them, told us everything he was doing! He did a great job of making everyone feel welcome! He asked how everyone was doing and if there were questions! I have to say the weeks leading up to our flight, I was a little nervous, but that morning not at all. We were all bundled up as it was cool. I ended up at the front, and I would suggest you bring a coat you can slip off as it gets very warm under the burners. Our take off was very smooth....suddenly we were in the air! Our ride lasted a little longer than the one hour...NO COMPLAINTS! The landing was as smooth as could be! Children (and adults) waived as we went over their homes and school yards and when we landed, several approached and talked with the pilot and the crew. The Pilots have 'trading' cards and the children of Albuquerque collect them! What a great out reach to the community! We were treated to a toast with champagne after our flight. A very enjoyable yet expensive thing to do, but I highly recommend it!! read more
