The business is clean, the help is always kind. Would have been a five star but the prices are steep for both lotions and tanning packages in my opinion. read more

I've always liked Sun Tan City . The girls that work there are very nice and helpful . So it sure isn't the customer service in your Fort Dodge Location . What I'm not very happy with is your hours , when I began at your tanning bed years ago it was great because I could always find a time I wasn't working to get there. Your hours are so short now . On the weekends there is no morning your open early enough I believe it's 10 And noon . Well I'm at work , and you close at 6 pm. I'm still at work . During the weekdays you used to open by 7 at least if not 6 am . Well that's gone. But at least you were open til 9 . And at one point it was 10pm. So I could for sure get a shower after work and get there to tan . Now it's 8 pm , well there's a good many nights I am still at work at 8 pm. So I basically have no points I can tan ever right now. Today was my day off , I just went to tan , Guess what ? You're closed for painting . I've stuck it out with you when it went cashless, sometimes that is inconvienant , but ok. I have stuck it out when you changed your prices and really went up. However, now take a look at how often i can get there to tan . I can barely do it ever . Thinking about cancelling . I work outside as it is . And I'm giving close to 25$ a tan , when i am going maybe 4 times a month. Not worth it . read more

Thank you Ashton for going above and beyond! We had purchase the spray tan package till the end of the year. I had some questions about what that "covered". She got me off and tanning and when I finished she had an answer for me and help adjust to the package I really wanted. I appreciate the time you took to make it right for me! read more

It depends on which one you go to. Des Moines on Fleur is excellent. Great staff, always clean and they don't act like they're doing you a favor. Ankeny, half the equipment is always in need of repair and they can't seem to get anyone to fix it because it stays broke for long periods of time. I don't think they sweep the floor very often either. They are always trying to get you to upgrade. They will tell you the tan you have a membership for is too strong for you to go full time but you can go full time in one of the upgrade beds. It's all about the upsell. read more

Charged my daughter twice, which overdrew her account. Then they couldn't fix it. My daughter was sent across town to another location so a Manager could fix it. But, the manager doesn't show up until after 3pm. Called Corp. They can't seem to find anything in their system saying the card was charged, even though I see it in my online banking. They wanted me to send bank info, including account numbers, full name, etc.. to them Unencrypted. So, their people don't have a clue how to run their system in house, managers aren't readily available, and the company as a whole does not seem to care about Identity theft. Great business model. read more

I have never written a review and I downloaded the app just to write this review. HORRIBLE customer service. This is my third time at this location and have had the same experience every time. I am pretty sure they have commission or something on selling their primer because every time I have gone in they essentially refuse to allow you to get a tan without their product. I decided to try the primer because they woman told me it would be 5 dollars only to see the receipt totaling 13. RIP OFF. Honestly don't know who hires these people because the sass and rudeness was unreal and it's safe to say I will never be returning. Also the tan was below average. read more

I went for free spray tan week and they tried to charge me over $9. When I said how is there a charge during free spray tan week they told me they are charging for a primer. When I kindly said no thank you and that I did not want one she told me I cannot tan without one. I told her I have tanned many times here before and have never been told that I cannot tan without a primer. After starting to get very frustrated with the fact that they weren't going to make any commission off me, they rudely just said "room 7". I talked to the manager who expressed that they recommended it, but nothing was needed to tan. There is a difference between a recommendation and tricking. read more

Terrible customer service. Staff is rude and lacks empathy. Definitely need some re-training on what good customer service means.

very helpful for the first time i went there. love it and the staff are great. i def recommend sun tan city

This was my first experienced at Sun Tan City and it was awful. When i went up to the front counter Kyra was the person at the front desk. The way that she spoke to my friends and I was appalling and unacceptable. She was the rudest person that i have ever encountered with and I will never be going back there. read more

This is an amazing place if you're looking for long or short term tanning, the staff is immaculate and polite, and the salon itself is amazing and very clean! I would highly recommend this to everyone. read more

Great customer service! The gal checking me in was very friendly and helpful in upgrading my membership. I had gotten a spray tan and it was raining. The manager did not hesitate to grab her umbrella and walk me out to my car. This location has the best spray booth in ames/ankeny. Wish it were more convenient for me. read more

This a great store. Kristie was very helpful in getting me set up with the right package, bed type and lotion I needed. It is very clean and well taken care of. Beds seem a little old but well maintained. read more

I am so done with Sun Tan City! My daughter signed up for the monthly unlimited tanning on direct debit. Stupid in her part. Well she couldn't afford it and she called and asked them to cancel her subscription (October)They said ok. Well she was charged that month. I told her that maybe she didn't give them enough notice and just be happy that she canceled it for the following month. Well November 1st came and she was charged again, but this time she did not have enough cash in her account so she got a $25 over draft charge along with the $30 fee. She was upset so she went in and spoke to the worker. The worker apologized and said that she did cancel it and that she would refund her the $30. Well Dec 1 came today and guess what....still no refund and she was CHARGED AGAIN! So far aprox $90 in unwanted services and a 25 overdraft charge. Well now the momma bear is involved and I'm upset. I will be taking measures in how to take them to small claims court! read more

Lady at the front desk was rude, and the bulbs were super old in the bed. Not worth the money, go somewhere else and get a better tan!
