I am not impressed with this facility at all. My family member was admitted there, taken from hospital by EMT transport. When I got there to check in and see her "settled" in, I was shocked.
I have been to Federal Prisons before, and you might as well say, it was like that. Had to put anything I had in my pockets, etc. in a locker, keep the key with me, everything is behind a 'locked" door (EVEN THE BATHROOM DOOR IS KEPT LOCKED IN THE FRONT LOBBY.) So, told the clerk at front desk I was there for my family member, and she told me to wait, she would see if she was back there in the ?????? room?????? I think you could call it a HOLDING ROOM LIKE JAIL, rather than an "admitting" room. AGAIN, EVERYTHING IS BEHIND CLOSED LOCKED DOORS. I had to take my locker key with me as I went into the "admitting' lounge or whatever they wanna call it. Other people waiting to be admitted. Staff comes and goes behind a locked door, really doesn't tell you anything, had their windows covered from the admitting room, so you can't see them very well (there is only a slight portion of the window you can see into, but it's not much. ) One comes out with a laptop to take the "picture" of patient. Confidentiality is not respected in my opinion, when they come out and yell your name so everyone hears it. REALLY???????? Then one comes out and takes you in a locked room to discuss "financial" responsibility. Again, they leave, and go to their "locked' room and keep you waiting. VERY VERY COLD ATMOSPHERE AS FAR AS PEOPLE/STAFF. KEEPS THE PATIENTS 'ISOLATED" IN WHICH MANY CASES I FEEL IS WHAT THEY ARE ALREADY STRUGGLING WITH. SEEMS LIKE THEY TREAT THE PATIENTS LIKE CATTLE. I wanted to ensure my family member was settled into their room, and when I asked if I could go to the room, they stated no. WHY?????? IS THERE SOMETHING THEY DON'T WANT ME TO SEE???????? Oh, I forgot, when I put my things in the locker in the lobby, I also was "SCANNED" with a metal detector wand. REALLY? SOUNDS LIKE FEDERAL PRISON TO ME. So, the waiting time was nearly 3 hrs. with others in this waiting area, just for my family member to be admitted. They had already been medicated prior at the hospital and needed to rest. ADMISSION PROCESS ABSOLUTELY IS PATHETIC. I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS FACILITY IS EVEN IN OPERATION. I felt like the patients waiting were de-humanized, which is NOT AT ALL WHAT THEY NEED. So, when they came to get my family member, they yell her name, and I was walking to get some water, when I heard the man yell her name, and I said "I am with _____" My family member was asleep. So, he said "I am taking her up to the room. Another person comes from the 'locked room of staff, and calls out another name, and said they were taking them to their room. The man that had my family member goes out a separate door, and the other patient was going out the door I had to exit to get to the lobby. Since I was the first in line to the door to exit to the lobby, the nurse had to "unlock" the door, and I said to her..."I guess you need to unlock the door." She said to me "I don't know if your allowed to go out." I told her I was here with a family member. She continued to tell me, "I'm not sure." The gal that was with the other patient stated..."yes, she was with another patient here." She still questioned it. I pulled my LOCKER KEY OUT OF MY POCKET TO SHOW HER. SHE STILL HESITATED. WOW WOW WOW. I AGREE. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE FROM WHAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT THE PATIENTS GO THRU THERE. BEST OF HOPE TO ALL THE FAMILIES WHO MAY HAVE SOMEONE THERE AT THAT PLACE. read more
