Dishonest and void of integrity. I came in for an inspection for an oil leak. They quoted ~$800 saying the oil pan needed to be replaced. They couldn't verify what caused it when I asked if it was cracked or gasket leaking, only that it needed to be replaced. Went to another place and was told the oil filter was just a little loose and they tightened it free of charge. I can forgive a misdiagnosis, but an oil filter is something you should be checking first on an oil leak, and the fact that the wait was 3 hours for the whole process, means you had the means to be thorough. I'm not looking for any redemption from management with this review. Don't bother contacting me. This is just to err caution to anyone potentially looking for their service. read more

Not so sure if I will be visiting again. I've been to other Sun Auto locations in the valley. Our family moved to Summerlin and I decided to visit this location since I had a positive experience with the one on Blue Diamond. I was turned off immediately when the manager (I assume he was the manager since he was overseeing and talking over the other service advisor) was very persistent with signing me up for a credit card despite refusing to do so. I intended to do an oil change and I did bring up another issue about my car but this was not investigated further nor was there any option for them to do so. I asked if they can check my Carfax account but they told me that they are unable to see any documentation for this, unless other mechanics put the data in. The wait room has 4 chairs grouped very closely and a small TV. Not much room at all. I must say that the oil change took about an hour and a half and I went on my way afterwards. The price of the oil change was about $80, much more than the quote I received on the phone. I'm not so sure if I can go back here, I may just drive the extra 15 mins to go to go back to the other Sun Auto location. read more

Took hours just to do oil change, then come back with a ton of problems that needs repairing. When we ask how much longer, they got mad and said "it will be done when its done", not something i would say to a costumer thats been waiting over an hour. Where do I start? I brought my car in 4 days ago to get a brake checkup. Brakes were fine but they found a few oil leaks and needed to fix my valve cover gasket as well as clean the oil... $1,300 later my car was ready for pick up. I went and got it before work and to my surprise it was driving horribly... vibrating, loud popping noises and oil temp spiking. Finished my shift and drove it home with all of the same symptoms and when I returned home my coolant dumped all over my garage and driveway and my oil temp was through the roof and it started smoking. Long story longer, I got it towed back to Sun Auto so they could fix what they had created (remember I just went in for a brake check.) When Thomas called back he mentioned that out of nowhere and too no fault of theirs my motor mount randomly blew up and disintegrated and thats what causing the vibration I was feeling. Thomas assured that "these things happen and there is nothing we can do about it as we didn't touch that" and it would be another $1,100 to fix... (remember I just went in for a brake check with no vibrating or any other issues.) I believe that the technician had surely messed with the motor mount and caused an issue knowing very well that I would be unable to prove that they did anything wrong and they could hang not giving my car back over me if I did not pay for the fix since the car was not drive-able. When I received the report for the motor mount issue, to no ones surprise and not listed on the first report, my front struts and shocks were now recommended to be replaced (remember I just went in for a brake check.) Being taken advantage of and needing my car I paid and went to pick it up. Upon arrival Thomas looked and me and said "we have the quote ready for when you need your other motor mount and struts and shocks replaced" with no remorse for the unprofessional runaround they put me through the past 2 days. Very much proving that I am sure their technicians are fixing problems and creating others to keep business booming. This place is a SCAM. Do not do not do not take your car there or you will be trapped in replacement after replacement and it is not worth your time or money. Their technicians are scammers and the management knows it. In January 2025, our 2001 Camry wouldn't start while parked in our garage. We contacted roadside service and the person sent to us got it to start by giving the battery a charge. He tested the battery and said it did not need replacement. Rather, he suspected that there might be an issue with the alternator. So, we drove it to the Walmart Auto Care Center at Fort Apache and Hacienda. We asked to have the alternator checked, then were told that they not were not able to. Instead, we were referred to this location of Sun Auto Service at Tropicana and Fort Apache. Because we arrived shortly before closing time on a Thursday night, we left the car with the shop overnight. Zakk P. was the service advisor who processed the intake for our request to have the alternator checked. We returned the next morning when the shop reopened. In that short time, they had completed a full vehicle inspection and replaced the battery without our authorization. JD H. was the service advisor at the front desk. He charged us $240 for the battery, and told us, "Do you know you have a fuel leak?" We replied that we would take the car home and review the repair recommendation before making a decision. After parking the car back in our garage, there was a noticeable gas odor that did not exist before taking the vehicle to this Sun Auto Service. The strong smell filled the garage. Evidently, this leak was created during the time it was in their shop. Naturally, we suspected foul play. Therefore, we could not trust this shop to repair the damage that was clearly of their own making. Subsequently, we took the vehicle to a different auto repair business (in my preceding Yelp review). They determined that "the fuel line has been snagged, yanked, and crushed and is now leaking fuel." Additionally, the "fuel line was not mounted properly during previous work." Furthermore, the "metal shield above fuel pump has been cut and bent 'modified,' indicating that this area has been tampered with previously." The grand total for the repair, including labor, parts, and supplies, was $1,800. read more

Initially I thought this place was great. I had my oil changed but I heard a strange noise for a couple of weeks until I looked under the car. The oil panel door was ripped open instead of unscrewed and removed. It wasn't expensive to replace but it certainly was a hassle and annoying because the noise was the plastic panel dragging on the pavement. Also they said I needed new struts, I knew differently. I went to the shop on Craig, NLV to tell them about an electrical problem I had with my van. the desk clerk told me to have it towed in and they would take a look at it. I used the tow service that they recommenede and it was $125. Later they called me and advised an electrical analysis was needed and it would cost $199. Not having other opptions, I said ok. About an hour later I was called and told that they would have to replace the battery and cables. Cost was $506. I thought that was exorbitant but eventually agreed as I thought that it was needed to located the electrical problem. Later, they called and said it was ready to go. It was late in the day so picked it up the next morning. The day after picking up the van I went to start it and it was totally dead. They did not fix the electrical problem, only replaced the battery and cables. I called and advised of the circumstances. They told me to have it towed in and they would take a look. I told them I was not paying for another tow as I thought they should pay because they did not fix the problem. I agued with them for the better part of an hour but they would not agree to pay. The battery they provided is not even the corrrect size. Over the last 7 years, I have paid Sun Auto on Craig about $20,000, including replacing an engine in a pickup. I thought I would get some thoughtful thank you but that was not to be. I WILL NEVER TAKE ANOTHER VEHICLE TO THIS COMPANY. On several other occassions, the work on a vehicle was not done correctly and I took it back. On those occassions, it was eventually repaired. read more

I recently had my car in for work on my brake pads and while they were working on my brake pads, they found that I needed tires that Honda said during their diagnostic a week prior were ok. I have been bringing my car to them since I moved to Vegas a few years ago and trust them and the work that they do. JD Harrison was such a great guy and good service rep. Dropoff and pickup process was smooth and quick, in and out. They were able to look at my problem SAME DAY with no appointment needed, after calling in advance and wanting a quote for a repair. After dropping it off, the inspection report I received was so detailed and in depth, complete with pictures as proof of areas they recommended to repair. I came in for an AC service because even with a recharge, my 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer wasn't blowing cold and not only did they find the issue (leaking valves and need a new compressor) but they also were able to inspect other parts of my car like my wheels and brakes. When I was advised about the price of the repair, it was a little too much for my budget but JD went above and beyond and worked with his manager to find a solution that worked for me. I would 10/10 recommend them for anyone looking for a trustworthy mechanic, and my AC is blowing colder than ever. Thanks JD! My car's brake was slipping a little and I couldn't stop my car properly, which was a very dangerous condition. So I took it into Sun Auto ( W Tropicana) and they told me an oil leaking problem and charged me $852.17 for the repair. However, after getting my car serviced, the same issue occurred with no improvement at all. So I brought it back to them. They said that my car needed the ABS module to be replaced but they didn't have it in stock so I had to wait. I left my car at SunAuto for 2 days, but I needed it to get to work. The receptionist told me I could drive it safely, so I picked up my car. A week passed, and I still hadn't received a call from them so I called to see what was going on. he told me the part that he ordered should arrive by tomorrow so will give me a call. However, they did not call me back so next week I called again. The shop supervisor received my call at that time and he said with an irresponsible attitude "Bring my car back to them so they can have a look at it again.". I felt they did not order the part so I felt like I was getting the runaround. I lost trust in them. So I took my car to another place and they fixed the problem right away. The problem was that the rear brakes were damaged and one of the brake parts was missing, and it had nothing to do nothing with the ABS. The other auto repair shop fixed it within just a few hours. Sunauto worked on my car for 3 days and never fixed it. Apparently, they must never looked at my car's brake. In the end, I lost $852.17. I want my money back. It was a terrible place for me. I rated one star but if possible, I gave them zero rate. read more

I recently had the opportunity to gift a car to a friend, but it needed significant work before it would be in good enough shape as a gift (one of the smaller issues was a baby spider infestation!) Sun Auto worked quickly and efficiently to get the car into near-perfect condition, and they kept me in the loop constantly. They even needed to source parts from an auction since my model is no longer made and is more than a decade old. Around the same time, my main vehicle was intermittently idling rough. I brought it in for an oil change and full checkup, and they saw an error code on the computer. After further research, they were able to reassure me that there was nothing wrong with it. Got an oil change this morning with an appointment. From making the appointment over the phone to getting the car every step was smooth and prompt. Great customer service from the manager and the other employer. I had a nail in my tire and they did not try to upsell but was honest in letting me know it wasn't repairable and that I should go to where I originally purchased the tire to get the tire replaced with my warranty. I went online to schedule and appointment for the next available Saturday, at 12:30pm. I also noted that anytime after 10am would also be fine. I received an email asking me to call them to reschedule. When I did, the guy told me he only had a 9am for that following Saturday. It wasn't ideal for me but I took it since my maintenance light has been blinking. Today when I came in they told me that my appointment was not for 9am, but for 1pm. I have never missed an appointment and have never misheard dates and times because I always made sure to repeat it to confirm. I'm giving a one star for how disorganized they are. If they truly had a slot at 1pm that day, it was only 30 mins later than what I selected for my online appointment (12:30pm). They could've simply called me back stating that and everything would have been great. They couldn't accommodate and squeeze me in that morning, but that's understandable. They claim to be very thorough with their car inspections but unfortunately I didn't get to see if that was true so I can't say anything about that. I'm just unhappy I waited a whole week for this appointment while my maintenance light was blinking. I've always gone to jiffy lube and wanted to give this place a try. But I ended back at jiffy lube right next door who was able to change my oil after a short wait. Jiffy lube in comparison had better customer service and was more reliable. read more

I took my car to the shop on 12/18. I knew I needed brakes, oil change, new tires, and I had a leak from an estimate I received from Doug on a prior visit. This time around the service advisor was James, I also told him my check engine light was on so I needed a diagnostic test for that and my horn does not work so I would like to get a diagnosis for that as well. He said the horn was a separate issue but he can check for that and I say ok. I give him my keys and catch a Lyft home. About an hour later he calls me and tells me all the things that need to be done and let me know labor is $190. I say fine. He says they're still running diagnosis but just wanted to call me since my car has been there for an hour and he will call me back once completed. About another hour later he calls me back. Gave me the same rundown and quoted me $1700+, he didn't mention the check engine light so I ask and he said well it's indicating something about your air flow but then it doesn't. We will replace the filter and see if that works. He never mentions anything about my horn or that the diagnosis fee is waived it I get the work done. I tell him to go ahead and fix the car and he says the repairs will be completed that day. Around 4:50 I get a call from Charlie to let me know my car is ready. So I catch a Lyft to get my car. Charlie tells me all the work that was done, I ask about the check engine light he wasn't too sure because nothing was written on the estimate about the dang check engine light. So I told him the conversation I had with James then he says well if it's for fair flow then that is on the estimate and it's complete, but he did say if the light comes on I can bring it back. So I go to my car start it up and no lights are on the dash so I drive off. 15 minutes into driving the check engine light and tire light comes on. I call the next day spoke to Charlie and he told me to bring it in. I take it in on Friday Charlie and James are at the front desk. I give James my keys and a few hours later I get a call that my car isn't ready they have to order parts they asked if I can leave my car over the weekend but I can't I was told I was going to be charged for the part so I asked how much was it. I was quoted around $270. I say fine and tell them I'll bring it back on Monday. I go get into another Lyft to go pick up my car and again Charlie and James are sitting at the front desk and Charlie said I don't have to pay for the parts I don't owe anything to which I'm very grateful since that was all the money I had left for the next two weeks. Monday 12/23 I take my car back and no Charlie this time only James. And he charges me $293.08 now I'm irritated but don't dispute because I need my car fixed. But on Friday I was told there would be no additional charge and he was right there. So I pay and catch another Lyft home. About 5 hours later I get a call my car was ready so happily I go pick it up. Walk up to James he doesn't tell me anything just hands me my keys. I go start up my car and there's a tire light on the dash so I go back inside and he says we don't have the part to fix the tire sensor but you can leave it or just bring it back another day. Now I'm confused because why would there be an option to leave my car if you don't have the part. So I say I'll just bring it back. Before leaving I ask him how long it will take and he quotes me 5.5 hours. Again confused I ask how much is the cost he said $25 for the part and $75 for labor. Me thinking $100 he says no $400 you have 4 tires. Not I'm completely befuddled because how did he get to me needed all 4 replaced when the tire sensor was never addressed on any conversation. Long story short I would never go to James regarding my car. Nearly $2000 later and I still have a light on my dash which is why I initially went in the first place. And all my issues still are not resolved. read more

I was very impressed with the customer service but especially with their integrity. It was very clear that what I was told by our dealership was total bs. The dealership all in would have been around $600 but it only costed me $160 and they told me I didn't need what the dealership said I did even though they could have made so much more money off of me. It being a family owned business does make all the difference and at almost age 50 I've experienced many vehicle breakdowns and this is the best experience I've had getting it fixed. Update: 11/20/24 I've been patronizing this establishment for about ten years. I used to live and work in the area but now I come here out of the way from the SW because I've had nothing but positive experiences. This time I was getting an oil change and they found a bunch of things that needed fixing. Now I admit I was a little suspicious at first because no one likes getting blind sided with a$2000 bill. When I thought about it I realized that they have never given me indication that they take advantage of their customers, as a matter of fact they have always gone out of their way to accommodate and even do things for free when they screw up. This is the first time out of many that they found things during an oil change that were urgent. While I was waiting for my ride home I overheard the manager dealing with a very rude customer and I was very impressed at how calm and kind he was when he would have been justified at telling them off. He displayed what I've always experienced at this location which is kindness. I also got to speak with the manager and he was genuinely concerned with the customer experience and wanted everyone to be satisfied with the work done to their vehicle . I'm not sure how much longer I will be living in the state but until then I will continue to give them my business even if there is another Sun Auto a half mile from my current residence. Oh and they went out of their way to provide a ride for me because I only have one vehicle and it was going to be at least 4 hrs of waiting...Thanks so much for the ride, the kindness and integrity! read more

Needed new battery stat, also a rear tail light replaced. I got there, not busy at all. I was in and out, less than an hour. Brand new battery, install and basically a 10 year warranty. Replaced my tail light, and tested more than once, to assure quality. They did a great job. Everyone there is knowledgeable and they may not be the friendliest, but they get the job done and quick. Drawbacks... a bit of a condescending tone through your my visit, with me and others. Nothing blatant or malicious, just expecting us to know everything or they know everything, more so with the guest I observed. Also, the make you buy their batteries although next to a battery/auto store... so was overpriced. Very over priced "10 year" battery for a car that won't make it 10 years.... Overall... if you don't mind the price, just want in and out, efficient service. This is the place. read more

Great people and honest mechanics, took me under the car and showed me what's going on. I was told by Purrfect auto 10 different things I "needed" (DONT GO THERE). Took it to Sun Auto for 2nd opinion and they say it was all BS and my car was perfectly fine, just needed rear break and rotors which I knew about already. They could've easily lied and taken more money from me! Little pricey compared to others in the area, but I'd rather spend 20% more and know it's done by professional and honest people with quality parts. Also got a Costco member discount of 15% which was nice. I'm coming here for everything for now on read more

I brought my car in last week as the brakes made noises when pedal was depressed. I left the car for a couple of hours and was finally told I needed new rotors and new pads. The total was $920 but they would give me a coupon and it would only cost $800. As my car is old, 2007, I said it was not worth it and left. The next day I took my car to Mr. Brake. He did a diagnostic and said rotors were fine, front pads were 45%, back pads 25%. The noise was a fluttering in the diaphragm and was told not to worry about it. Total cost $0! Obviously, I do not recommend anyone going to Sun Auto for anything as they are not very trustworthy. read more
