Her massage techniques seriously rivaled those of the estheticians I have worked with at top tier spas across the country. I wish I lived closer or I'd be here all the time. In the past I have come for shampoo blowouts and loved it. They definitely prep students to set them up for success.

I specifically asked the student that if she was unsure about anything I had asked, that she ask her educator for help. She didn't until the very end when she was doing some face framing & instead of gliding the scissors down the length of my hair to do this, she just chopped chunks into the front of my hair. The only way to salvage this was to cut my hair short to even this out. It was a terrible haircut & unfortunately I won't be going back. This is the second time this exact thing happened. While I understand they are students & you're taking that risk when you go, there just needs to be better supervision for the students. This girl who cut my hair was graduating in 4 wks & seemed like she was only 4 wks into the program. That's how bad this was. Also, I have been going here for probably 20 yrs so I k ow the drill. The caliber of students & educators has severely decreased. Back in the day the students & educators were much more professional & put together. Now when you go here, most of the students & educators look like they just rolled out of bed & grabbed anything on the floor. There is no professionalism. The educators used to come over and check in a few times during a visit. Now they come over at the beginning & the end & don't check in at all during the appt. This place used to be so much better than it is now. I would not recommend.

I was placed with a student who has never done ethnic hair before, but has not done any services on a real person. Being an Esthetician and remembering when I was a student at Aveda, I tried to make her feel comfortable and help her. It didnt work. I later found out that the week before, a customer cussed her out and took away her confidence. The instructor ended up helping me and my hairstyle lasted less than 48 hours.

The young lady that I spoke with advised that the last appointment was at 6 PM and then I was scheduled for today. I go in there and there's another young lady sitting there and if I come in and I advised her that I have a scheduled appointment for today at 6 PM she said oh no I seen you all the books, but we don't do appointments on Monday and then I asked her if you seen me on the bus why wouldn't you call me earlier and advise me that they were closed. She did begin to apologize profusely and kept on saying we don't have anybody to do your hair today. We don't have anybody to do your hair today, but you knew that earlier when you came in and you still did not call me to advise. I would advise if you have a special occasion do not I repeat do not book them horrible unprofessional and don't know what the heck is going on.

However what I realized was that the currículum was exceptionally basic in having no real substance at all and the school's equipment & software was severely outdated. Many of the students in my class also agreed. The school's director, John Casson, at the behest of administration, conducted himself more like a used car salesman in desperately trying to get more students to attend the institute for financial reasons; almost as if Mr. Casson worked on commission. My classmates at the time also believed that the majority of instruction within the school's curriculum could have been learned on our own via YouTube. Again, this school is an unequivocal sham, it's unprofessional, and they DO NOT provide much follow up/assistance to their students during class or after graduation. Mr. John Casson has since moved on from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting to form his own institute which I dearly hope will not be in the likeness of his previous employer. The Connecticut School of Broadcasting gets an emphatic thumbs down and score of "sub zero" from me.
