I waited to write this review so I would be able to reflect more clearly on the experience. Mostly, my father's and my family's time there was not very positive. I am leaving the two stars for those staff members that did treat my father with kindness, compassion and understanding. We decided to put my father on hospice so we could access more daily care and less medical testing ect. However, what we observed is less concern, less care and less compassion. My father's care was not easy as he had little mobility and dementia/delirium the last few weeks was significant. Hospice did provide pharmacological intervention but did not provide much support or communication with the family. Fortunately, my family was able to spend every day with him and provide him with the support required to make him as comfortable as possible. The most disturbing was that my father was placed at the end of the hall and after this daily visit once per shift by the nurse, there was no check- ins by the aides other than the alert bell that he could ring. The thing is when we rang, it was longer then 10 to 15 minutes before anyone would show up and at times it could be 30 to 40 minutes. No aide was stationed outside in the hall, so I spent much of my time searching for help. There were four occasions, I found them on their cell phones in empty rooms. Rarely, did not see supervisors on the floor making periodic checks on both him and staff. Basically, any assistance received other than the bare minimum, was mostly reactive not proactive. I would like to thank the nurse that did sit with him a few times during the end as his anxiety was severe and also the staff members that alerted me when his needs not being met. In the end, an aide assigned to my dad daily was treating me harshly, that I hired a private aide to stay with my father so that I could take a break from what appeared to be passive aggressive cruelty. This aide refused my father his last cup of coffee on his last day telling him the kitchen was closed, as my brother showed up and retrieved a cup in that kitchen. Previously, I did ask supervisor to speak to her but was told, that it was happening. I often wonder how she treated him while I was not present as he was somewhat helpless. Unfortunately, taking care of both my parents, I witnessed other facilities, and it is my opinion as a society, we must do better with the elderly. Working with the elderly and health care is a very difficult job. Owners and administrators must do better providing a caring emotionally and monetary rewarding environment for their staff. The response to these reviews asks the writer to call and discuss. Again, reactive, so I will offer my further input only if it is a proactive response.

Nicole always takes the time to inform me about what they are working on, and she sticks to the curriculum even when he's being resistant. My one criticism is that the woman at the front seems a little overwhelmed, and the office is a tad disorganized (they didn't forward the paperwork they received from his initial eval to Anissa at our first visit). Not unusual and the pros far outweigh any cons. It's not crowded, and the therapists really know what they're doing. I highly recommend this place.

Some of the staff might genuinely be incompetent. My grandmother was there a decade ago for a…read morestroke, and had a very unpleasant time with the nurses. Just last week, she suffered another stroke and was placed back in kessler not even 3 days ago. The staff at the front desk are the only good ones in the entire building I've interacted with. I got to the floor my family was on and stood at a help desk for 2 mins as no one stepped up to ask us if we needed assistance. There was 4 nurses behind the desk talking and laughing. I found my way to her room myself. My grandmother's bed alarms went off multiple times and no one at any point came to help check. It peaked this morning when we found out that the mandatory medication she has to take twice a day to prevent post-stroke seizures was NOT GIVEN TO HER in the morning because she said she didnt want it. My grandmother is not in the right mind to make these decisions. My grandfather who has power of attorney approved all the medications she has to get for at least 1 weeks in recovery. Only one single nurse seems kind and actually capable there, and she was only there checking and doing rounds. The rest seem like they want to do anything but their job, and they left my grandmother crying and upset after she was given her medicine and strapped into a chair. The medicine is known to cause disorientation, and being thrust into a new environment you would expect some emotional distress in the first few days. I cannot stand this place or the majority of the staff and its not surprising the only positive reviews come from people who are receiving simple treatment.

You should read the review, but what caused today's revision was learning the MRI report I was informed had been sent the ordering physician on Friday 5/24/24 was not the whole story. A fax was sent Friday, but it was not the actual report. The incompetent party who sent Friday's fax sent a questionnaire connected to my MRI report, but not the actual report. So, it took multiple phone calls on 5/28/24 and tons of frustrating wasted time on 5/28/24 to finally get it done. So? I had used both the hospital and their ambulatory care center a few times previously. Both are in Livingston, NJ. This review regards an MRI that was performed on May 20, 2024. The procedure itself was unremarkable. I did not wait long for an 8AM appointment, which is one of the pluses. The staff were also pleasant and professional. So, why only a 2 out of 5? Everything that followed has been nightmarish and totally unacceptable. It seems since Robert Woods Johnson took over, this place has gone to hell. The followup post-MRI has demonstrated a dysfunctional, disorganized, and non-empathetic group of medical practitioners. What I think of them is unprintable. It's now Friday May 24, 2024 and for three days both I and the ordering physician's office have been calling to get the MRI results sent to the ordering physician. We keep being told the results are not ready and can take 5-7 business days. Huh? I've had MRIs before and results should be available within 24-48 hours. This 5-7 business days is an inexcusable travesty. There's worse though! Worse is there's no one to talk to about why the MRI results should be expedited. This lack of a report is delaying another procedure. And I'm suffering physically due to this facility's lack of efficiency and lack of caring. Every call I seek a patient advocate, but there's no such person. I am told to speak with Ed Figueroa, the radiology department head. That would be great, if he'd answer his phone or return his calls, if the alternate phone number on his voice mail was an actual existing phone number. Unbelievable? It sure is. Uncaring and unsympathetic. No patient advocates? Unheard of. I also tried the ambulatory care center's concierge desk. Donna, a pleasant sounding woman tried to help me. That ultimately went nowhere though. I called her again 2 hours later. Again she's pleasant, but ultimately of no help. Call backs thereafter and she will not pick up the call. Now she's dodging my calls. This is an abomination. This place is to be avoided. If I had real convenient alternative choices, I'd make them. For now, I'm stuck with these folks.
