I went to SPC for the first time for Easter a few weeks ago. The worship is very contemporary (super loud music, fog machines, and concert lights). Something that impressed me at this church was the technology. Sounds weird I know, but you'll notice it when you go. During the worship and sermon, they have two big projection screens of the stage and add info/scriptures below it. They also had a video trailer of upcoming sermon series and church announcements. They give you an option of texting a certain number if you are new. Very fancy!
The church lobby is pretty small, but has an open floor plan so you can see where the welcome booth and kids section is. At one point I felt like in an Apple store, they have people behind booths with a lot of computers open facing outward so you can check out their website. I'm tellin ya... fancy tech people at SPC!
The main thing that made me go back to SPC for a second week was the pastor. He's legit!
By legit, I mean, he's honest and real. From the few times I've heard him speak he's been funny, to the point and personable. Not a hellfire and damnation kind of preacher but also not just a love and fluff kind of preacher.
I haven't made any personal connections with people there yet. I've said a few words to people at welcome booths but that's about it.
Word of warning when you go: you don't pick your seat in the auditorium, they do. For me, that was a bit of a bother because I'm a back row baptist and my first time there they had me on the second row!!! However, it has its advantages. There's nothing worse than stepping into a sanctuary and feeling like you're back in a middle school cafeteria looking for someone to sit by. read more
