A Warning for First-Time Homebuyers: Our Terrible Experience with DHI Mortgage…read moreMy husband and I recently worked with DHI Mortgage Company, and it was the WORST experience we've ever had. As first-time homebuyers, we expected some challenges, but this went beyond anything we could have imagined. Our loan officer was incredibly disorganized. We were asked to submit the same documents multiple times, as if they had been lost or ignored. Despite using their designated portal, it felt like no one ever checked it. On top of that, they insisted on specific formats for certain documents. When we explained that our bank couldn't accommodate their request or we simply didn't know how to get the correct format, our loan officer would assure us she'd discuss it with the underwriter to determine if the documents were necessary--only to email us days later asking for the same documents. It was an endless cycle of confusion and miscommunication with zero guidance. It reached a point where they even asked for our bank account login information, which felt highly inappropriate. While they claimed they were rushing to close before the new year, their response times were slow, often taking days to answer any questions. Things got even worse when we escalated our frustrations to the manager. Instead of helping, the manager was unprofessional and condescending. His sole source of information was the loan officer's notes, and he insisted that if something was written down, it must have happened exactly as stated. He gaslit us, falsely accused my husband of cursing at the loan officer, and accused us of hiding the source of our down payment. He went so far as to suggest we "came clean" and were "playing games" with them. To explain in further detail, at the beginning of the process, we were asked if our closing costs were coming from a gifter. I asked for clarification, as closing costs were being covered by DR Horton (the builder of our new home), while our down payment was coming from us. Instead of answering, they delayed their response and then requested gifter information. Our loan officer called and once she clarified they meant down payment and I explained the situation, my husband and I thought the issue was resolved--only to find out that our loan officer misrepresented the situation to her manager, making it seem like we lied. Even our realtor, who has extensive experience, assured us that home-buying is not supposed to be this difficult. He agreed the loan officer was very unorganized and the manager's behavior was super unprofessional. If you're considering DHI Mortgage, proceed with caution. Our experience was a nightmare, and we wouldn't wish it on anyone else

Simon Amor and his…read moreteam were EXTREMELY helpful, he walked me through each step of the process, he answered the many questions I had, and he went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable with each step. I would highly recommend this lender. It did not matter if I had a question during business hours or not, he was very quick about answering emails and returning phone calls. I am overjoyed with my decision to work with this lender!

After sharing my frustrations with my realtor, she told me to call, Simon, at Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation. Hands down, one of the best decisions I could have made. Within minutes of reaching out to Simon, he was already reaching back. Our first phone call, even though it was ephemeral, made a long-lasting impression to me. Simon told me he and his company are consistently voted in the top tier of customer service. Certainly a title he wears with pride, and one he certainly lives up to. Here are some of the things Simon did that really stood out to me. 1. His rates. I'm not kidding when I say Simon saved me 2% interest on my loan. Not 0.2%. But 2 full % points. That's literally a savings of thousands every year. No lie. He saved me almost $200 a month compared to my other lender. If that's not taking care of your client, then I don't know what is. 2. His genuine customer service, and unwavering ability to pull a loan together. . I was NOT an easy loan for, Simon. I have enough student debt to buy a brand new Tesla. Not a cheap model 3 either. I could buy a nice Tesla SUV with the amount of student loans I have. I thought I would NEVER be able to buy a home. Yet, here we are. All thanks to Simon working his tail off for me. 3. His genuine customer service AGAIN. (His customer service easily deserves two mentions) My fiancé lost her job due to Civid19 in the middle of our home buying process. That put me, and my student loans at the forefront of the home buying process. My previous lender told me that my student loans would essentially disqualify me from buying a house, because my DTI was too high. But Simon?! Oh no. Simon kicked my student loans right in the face. No mercy. Bruce lee style. Every single issue that came up... I thought.. this is it.. I've lost my house. But not Simon. He would deliver me the bad news, and then come right back with... "this is how we fix it! Get these documents to me, and we will keep moving forward." Here I am. Sitting on my brand new back porch, writing the review for the person who made it happen for me. Simon could have given up at any moment. Straight up. When things got difficult and my fiancé lost her job and my student loans were piling up, he could have just checked out of our deal and moved on. But that's not who Simon is. He works with his clients, and for his clients, and he does so with pride. John Rockefeller once said: "The ability to work with people is as purchasable a commodity as coffee, or sugar, and I will pay more for that service, than any under the sun. Mr. Rockefeller unknowingly wrote this quote about Simon. I would have gladly paid more for his customer service. The best part is, I didn't have to. It all comes along with, Simon. No extra charge. This review won't pay back a 1/4 of what he's down for me and my family. Made what I thought was previously impossible, possible. I can't think you enough, Simon.
