Summit has made mistake after ridiculous mistake for the last two years, and I just can't wait until we can pay off our loan and never deal with them again. We thought it would be a good idea to move our car loan to them because they offered a better rate, but the hassle it's caused has completely canceled out anything positive. They forget to do paperwork. Don't return phone calls. It took months for them to correct an error regarding our insurance coverage. They even accidentally made a payment twice then refused to reverse their mistake, or offer any solution. So we just had to deal with having twice the amount of money taken out of our account than expected and still make the next payment shortly after after finding out what happened. Trying to register the vehicle has been a nightmare because they never even filed for the title at the time we switched. Every time I think they can't possibly screw up any more, they do. read more

Farmers & Merchants Union Bank

The Farmers & Merchants Union Bank in Columbus was the last of Louis Sullivan's eight "Jewel Box"…read morebanks that he designed as his career was winding down. The other Jewel Boxes, scattered around the Midwest, are all still standing. (The Peoples Savings Bank in Cedar Rapids, Iowa was severely damaged in the Flood of 2008 and is undergoing renovation.) Sullivan, founder of the Prairie School of Architecture and the father of the modern skyscraper, was a mentor to Frank Lloyd Wright. He coined the phrase "Form follows function." His signature was ornamentation, very evident on this bank, designed to draw the eye upwards. Terra Cotta ornamentation on the cornice are his exclamation point on his design. The Farmers & Merchants Union Bank was founded by John Wheeler in 1861. He chose the name "Union" in honor of Abraham Lincoln and his efforts to preserve the Union. On the cornice of the building is a Terra Cotta eagle, representing Old Abe, the mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. The word, "Forward" is cast into the sculpture, it is the motto of the State of Wisconsin. The bank also appears in the 2009 Johnny Depp film "Public Enemies" as a location shot for a John Dillinger bank robbery. (The bank was never held up by Dillinger.)

I first went to Summit in 2014 to secure an auto loan. It was fast, easy and I was given a great rate. I most recently worked with them to secure a Heloc and make a land purchase. Again, the customer service was excellent. They made a very stressful process simple. They provided thorough and efficient service throughout. We felt like we were in good hands throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend them. read more

Jim has always been very willing to plainly explain anything we have had questions about and provided almost immediate responses to requests we have sent to him and his staff. For example, we've been out of town and realized we didn't have our car's proof of insurance cards, and after a quick call to their office - within the hour his amazing staff had emailed a copy of the card to me, just in case we would need it. Also, my elderly father's car is also covered by State Farm and he has lost his insurance card multiple times, and Jim's team member never hesitate to send another one both in the mail and via email. Last week our car battery died on the opposite side of town ~35 min. away, and we had to call a tow-truck to haul it all the way across the city which amounted to a $200+ bill which we had to pay to the garage, right away. The following morning we called Jim's office and asked if our insurance covered a tow and his assistant said we indeed were covered for that! So, 2 days later we had received a check in the mail, reimbursing us for the tow and labor charge! I can't say enough good things about Jim and his team. I highly recommend them to anyone who asks!
