Extremely good at saying all the right things. I wanted a 9 x18 foot deck with a 6' 1/2x 9 foot in closed area on one end.
He said he only did framing. Needed $2500. Up front for lumber. I paid him.
Alex, who I was originally trying to contact on Yelp got back to me hours after I had paid Bennett. So Alex would put on the metal roof, electrical, everything but the framing . He started on Monday telling me he'd be finished on or before that Friday. Tuesday the deck part was 80% complete. Then I didn't see him again until the next week. 1/2 a day by himself. The fallowing Friday almost 3 weeks into the estimated 4 day job. he sends me a text that he's coming with help to finish up, will I Zella the 2,367.00 remaining on the job..
The decking boards weren't even completed , the room nor the roof had been framed or the OSB put on it. I told him I'd pay him when it was finished. He showed up with one guy left a hour later and came back with a second. I would like to think that Bennett was just in over his head, maybe his first deck with a roof. I'm not trying to trash him or his business. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. My advice to future customers. Don't get talked into paying before the jobs complete!! Alex is having to take 90% of what's there down and redo the whole thing for me. read more
