Coming from Alberta, I always have liked the few flavors of syrup of Summerland Sweets I could find at a grocery store, but this place is like the ultimate jam and syrup destination! There are so many more flavors than just raspberry and blueberry, and more jams than I could count. When we visited we were stunned for a moment when we walked in, and we shopped for a long time. Along with all the fruit-flavored goodies there are so may cute home items and decor to look at, as well as ice cream (there was a busy line for this while we were shopping). Summerland Sweets is in the middle of a number of wineries and made for a great break from wine tasting (including wonderful clean public washrooms). This is now a mandatory stop when we visit the Summerland area, and my only regret is not going home with one of the 4L jugs of syrup! read more

Summerland Sweets is a rustic wood building that reminds me of Little House on the Prairie. The parking lot is gravel and there are several picnic benches outside to use while you enjoy your treats. My father grew up in Summerland and still owns his family home and vineyard there. We toured the area this time and bumped into Summerland sweets. What a great find! We walked in and found shelves and shelves of jam, fruit candies, pottery, fruit wines, and an ice cream counter in the back. Our group of 10 all stopped for an ice cream and we were so glad we did! They offer two types of cones and a bunch of different flavors of ice cream. The standard scoop is HUGE. The ice cream prices are very cheap (see photo) and the scoops are generous. The girls working the counter are very friendly and were super nice with our 4 seniors (all over age 85) who were trying to decide what to get. The cherry ice cream was a huge hit! There is also a wine tasting room where they serve fruit wines. The colors are beautiful and the wine tasting is free. We ended up with some fruit flavored candy for my husband to bring back to work (in Houston). We don't do a lot of touristy type things when we go to the Okanagan, so this was a wonderful place to stop, close to where we were staying. I highly recommend Summerland Sweets for a quick stop for ice cream, wine tasting, and gift shopping. If you love maple syrup or fruit syrup they sell that too! read more

Summerland Sweets gets their own review detached from Sleeping Giant Winery. Makes sense--maybe it's because Sleeping Giant is not a great winery, but Summerland Sweet is an amazing business. It's a spacious storefront loaded floor to ceiling with jams, jellies, syrups, and ice creams--basically all phases of matter. They're probably working on fruit plasma in the back (and yes, I made that joke in my Sleeping Giant review as well). The selection is far more generous than any Superstore or Save-On, which usually offer only a half-dozen varieties at best. I lost count all the options at SS. Wait...SS? I can't really call it that now, can I? Okay, back to calling it Summerland Sweets. Outside of the wide selection of canned goods, the store also offers numerous novelties, both edible and not. Many appear fragile. I certainly wouldn't want a child rampaging through this place given how narrow the aisles are. This is a place I could see dropping way too much money on...because I did drop way too much money it last we were there. We opted to not take in the ice cream at the back, but they sure looked good. There's even a tasting room where you can sample many of the varieties, and strangely enough, they turned it into a theater. How odd. Of all the tourist spots in Summerland, Summerland Sweets is near the top of a list populated entirely with wineries. It's ironic given that Summerland Sweet's own winery, Sleeping Giant, isn't on that same list and could be skipped entirely. Though this still leaves the remaining 80% of the store to shop in. My girlfriend and I had been on a wine tour, and over seven days had visited 60 wineries. We brought back 120 bottles, but many of them remain unopened nearly ten months later. However, we have burned through our entire collection of jam, leaving only two, a Pure Blueberry and Pure Strawberry Jam. They won't last. Summerland Sweets should be on everyone's list, regardless if you can acquire some varieties at your local grocery store. Take it from the source at least once. read more

Summerland Sweets is the absolute best! They have a wide range variety of jam, syrup and ice cream! I've been coming here every year for the best 20 and I love it there so much. The jam is just sooo delicious tastes homemade. The syrup is delightful. They have so many flavours it's crazy. Good for all taste buds. They have a dining area so you can enjoy their delicious ice cream and a alcohol store. I would say that they are pretty expensive but so so so worth it read more

I was very disappointed when I went here to try the wine. I love summerland sweets and this was my first time visiting. I bought some syrups and other products and then discovered they sell wine. When I went into the wine shop the woman working would not include me in the tasting, she was very rude to me. I was not going to buy a bottle until I tasted so I ended up not getting to buy any. She asked me if I was wanting to pay and I said no I was wanting to try the wine and then she ignored me. I even told other employees I wanted to try the wine and they continued to walk away as they assumed the woman at the counter would help me. I dont know if this is what you call a "wine snob" but every other employee in the store was very helpful to me even if they were busy they were able to answer any questions or point in the right direction. I would recommend putting one of those friendly employees at the tasting counter and not to lose valuable customers and sales because of a rude employee. read more

Our family goes to Summerland Sweets multiple times in the summer when we are visiting the Okanagan. Our favourite items are the syrups & the hard scoop ice cream cones. Always, friendly staff and samples available if you want to try something new. Ice cream is inexpensive, pretty big & they make their own waffle cones daily. My kids #1 ice cream place in the South Okanagan. Very friendly staff and quick service. We enjoy sitting outside at the picnic tables under the shade of the fruit treats. Close to other Summerland wineries and a short walk to the train trestles. read more

The gift packs make nice looking gifts and our children and friends enjoyed receiving them but the jam and syrup are not tasty. No fruit flavour just sweet. That is not how I remember the local fruit flavours to be, growing up in the area. Jerald & Lorna read more

Nine of us started our bike ride at Summerland Sweets, since it is just a few meters from the old KVR railway. From there we biked into Penticton on the KVR, about 10k, and back to S Ss. This place is a great stop for locals and tourists alike as it literally displays local flavours. There is the beautiful display of all the fruit jams and syrups and candies and many other local food gourmet products. The building is homey and inviting. There are great clean bathrooms. We like to sit outside and enjoy the very generous ice cream cones outside at the picnic table on the lawn next to the adjacent cherry orchard. The parking lot was paved in 2014 and is in a scenic area of orchards and vineyards. You can hear the steam train whistle from this location and it is a 2 minute walk to the historic KVR train trestle over Trout Creek Canyon. read more
