You don't learn much and for $300, don't even get a shirt or feel much camp culture. We would have been better off spending our effort, time, and money going to the San Francisco camp.

Sign up by the week and age. Track and Field was 9am-3pm M-F $400wk. Receipts for Dependent Care FSA, free parking pass and UCLA Track and Field Shirt. Kids bring their lunches. She fine tuned footing, breathing, movement, vaults, and hurdles, while coming home sore as the challenge progressed. The camp is held at Drake Stadium. My daughter's Track and Field RBUSD middle school coach had her son enrolled here too! Her husband is the RBUSD head high school track coach. They both had amazing things to say about UCLA coaches; what a testament! If you're thinking about it, just do it! You'll love it, and the kids are sure to remember the college exposure. Money well spent.

Special recognition to Hogan, Angel, and Jordan for the extended commitment to educating children. It's wonderful to be able to send our children to school, knowing that they will be safe, inspired to learn and thrive. My only complaint is that I didn't discover them earlier! My children's complaints are that their school year is not longer! (They followed the private school calendar, which is shorter than the LAUSD calendar). The school and the teachers are true gems.

Teaching over zoom is HARD so I can't give enough credit for the work they did! The activities were great, when the supply box first arrived I wasn't sure how the supplies in it were going to occupy my two squirrley kids for a week but it was like Mary Poppins magic carpet bag that just kept supplying what they needed! My kids want me to give a special shout out to Hogan who taught them (and a technologically challenged mom) how to "code" and my daughter wants Abe to know how much she liked the slime. I have been studying martial arts at John Wooden Center for a year and I cannot give the program…read morejustice. My image of UCLA has GREATLY IMPROVED from my experience with this program. I used to think that UCLA meant, ''U' 'C' Lottsa Attitude' but my this has changed. The instructors are some of the most humble and helpful humans I have encountered. The program does not offer any live sparring which is understandable - they do not want to absorb the liability. For a beginner to intermediate student this program is amazing. They concentrate on evasion which any martial artist can give due diligence. More martial arts are offered than any other school in the world. This program offers the most eclectic instructors as well. Give it a shot!

I want to warn community members who come here that the facility is not upfront about how the…read morepasses work and the objective is to take your money. I wanted to sign up for the group x fitness and after spending at least 20 minutes clicking on the sign up link and getting directed in circles, I decided to get the community center pass because it stated there was access to the John Wooden Center. The website does not make it clear if the rec pass includes the group x pass but only allows you to purchase the pass in order to then be directed to the group x pass which does not work online. So, if you want to do just the group x fit classes like yoga and dance, you First have to pay $120 just to gain access to the fitness center. It is not clear that there is an "entrance fee," of $120 on the site, even if you only want to use the facilities for group fitness passes. When you ask for a refund, because I still could not access the group x passes after buying the community rec membership, they state the following policy attached bellow. Basically, you cannot say you didn't understand their policies after you buy the rec center pass, although it is unclear and confusing about what the pass allows and that it is essentially a fee that you have to pay just to access the group fitness classes, even if you have no intention of using the center and just want group classes. They then state on their website that if you pay monthly, you have to renew manually but after requesting cancellation, they send you a message saying that your account will be charged for the month you requested to cancel but you wont be charged for further months, which doesn't make sense because the website says you have to initiate cancellation and you are not on autopay with the monthly membership. Basically as a first time community member you are getting scammed out of $120 dollars, even if you cancel the following day. UCLA recreation has an unethical business practice and policy for community members, and it is unfair towards those wanting to support the UCLA community. I bought a gym pass to a more transparent gym this same month with the expectation that UCLA would be open to cancellation as I had not even been to the gym or campus and now I am experiencing a disproportionate impact with my account being charged by UCLA after a request to cancel the day after. Community members be advised, they don't care about you but they will take your money through unethical business policies and practices. This completely diminishes my view of the University. A university receives enough donor support to be able to refund small payments like this, and this shows that they do not care about their community at all.

My son attended his first season at Camp Adventurewood in 2023 - it was his first experience at a…read moresummer camp and he was a little nervous and shy but all his counselors made him feel so welcome and comfortable and after the first day he was hooked! He loved the variety of activities and made so many new friends. He came home with fun stories each day. I loved that they offered a variety of options from 2 days/week to 5 days. We returned last summer and an unexpected and sudden medical event threw our summer for a loop. They were beyond kind and accommodating. Michael, the owner, personally made sure we were taken care of at a very scary time and was just incredibly kind and communicative. I can't thank him and his staff enough for the support. I would recommend this camp for any family. Its like a classic, old-school summer day camp experience!

However, we decided to pull him out for next week because of a very disturbing situation. He shared that a counselor had pushed him with both hands on his shoulders during a capture the flag activity. He had dropped his flag and was putting it back on when a counselor (he didn't know her name) pushed him back hard enough to make him lose his balance and fall. She also barked "you need to reset!" She didn't ask if he was ok or help him up. You'd think if this was an accidental push and he fell over she would say something like "sorry bud are you ok? Here let me help you up" but nope, not a word. A friend he's attending camp with witnessed the whole incident. Since I pick them both up in the afternoons they both recounted this situation to me and both of them noted how inappropriate her behavior was. I immediately reached out to Michael, the owner of the camp. He said he wanted to identify this counselor and get her side of the story. Understandable. My son felt uncomfortable going back the next day but I reassured him it would be handled and offered to drop him off in the morning and stick around to talk to Michael and the counselor. I wanted him to feel safe. Michael identified her (her name is Carson) and said he wanted to talk to her first, which he did a few feet away from me. I heard her say she didn't push him. They then walked over to me and she again denied everything. So we asked both kids to come over and recount what happened. They both did -- in front of her -- and reiterated she pushed him. She denied even touching him. So Michael suggests at this point that perhaps it was an accident and my son responds by saying "how do you push someone like that by accident?!" No response. So I ask her, are you saying these kids are lying? She again said she didn't touch him and at this point we send the kids away. I'm incensed because not only does she gaslight both of them to their face but tells this bold faced lie to her boss in front of the campers and me. I tell her I believe them and I think she's the one lying. At this point she gives me this dirty look - angry, irritated and almost rolls her eyes at me. I turn to Michael and say "and now she's giving ME an attitude?!" Unbelievable. In a follow up call, he tells me how good of a person she is and that this is shocking for him to hear but that she doesn't seem like someone who would do something like this...that she's getting her teacher credentials and he knows her really well. I am getting the vibe he doesn't actually believe any of this and he sounds very skeptical. I respond by telling him that it's almost always surprising when people exhibit bad behavior and that even teachers do bad things...that doesn't make her any more credible in my eyes. He acknowledged that. In fact, it's worse because I would be really concerned to have someone like that teaching a kid. Lack of empathy, accountability, and integrity. I mean, I think it's great he's trying to have her back but there are moments in life when you need to draw a line and act swiftly...these are one of those moments. Because ultimately, this impacts the reputation of your camp. I told him that it would be good to offer training to his staff in case this ever happens again in the future and honestly he sounded baffled and asked me to clarify...I said well maybe tell your staff not to give dirty looks to a mom who's clearly upset that her son just got pushed by a grown adult at summer camp?? I told him that the response to this situation could've resulted in a totally different outcome. Had she said something like "I really don't recall pushing you but if I inadvertently did and made you feel bad I'm sorry - I didn't mean to do that" - I would've went home that morning feeling fine about the situation. When I told him this he said that he's not going to police all her reactions, that she's still young, that she's still learning and made all kinds of excuses for her. Exhausting. Apparently she got a "warning" and will sit out of the flag activity (umm, ok...). He seems like a smart guy and wish him nothing but success in the future and I was earnestly trying to offer advice for how to handle a situation like this better but it fell on deaf ears. I really hope that some kind of learning comes out of this for both of them. Oh and to top it off, my son's friend told her mom that Carson was giving her looks several times throughout the day today and when she asked what kind she said "side eye" looks. NOT COOL. My son also said she was kind of mean to him but wondering why they were even in close proximity when Michael said they'd absolutely be separated and would not see each other? Validates we both made the right choice by pulling them both out. He offered a refund but I'm still pissed about the situation.

Might just be pay to play courts now. Courts are clean and open. One player told me to just grab a court and play. Worked on my serve for about 20 mins but couldn't find anyone who wanted to rally. She had no problem chatting with everyone else on the court, just not me. This isn't the first time she's targeted me in a game. When I brought it up, the coach dismissed it entirely, saying it was "totally fine" that she did that. It wasn't fine. It felt targeted and personal. To make matters worse, I spoke to the tennis team manager afterward, and he looked completely uncomfortable, said nothing, and just stared at me. No support, no accountability. This kind of behavior should never be acceptable in any sports community. I expected better.

I can't say enough about how fantastic this program is. Most camps we've found are either for 'kids' or teenagers, and neither seemed to really fit my 11 year old daughter. These years between 10 and 13 are so confusing and exciting, especially for girls. I'm so glad Bizzy Girls is specifically reaching out to them with things they find interesting (in this case, pet adoption = PUPPIES!), while teaching them confidence and self-reliance. Follow up- 2nd camp (fashion design/ entrepreneurs) was also fantastic. It's totally amazing what these girls have accomplished. I have seen noticeable improvement in my daughter's attitude and maturity this summer, and I believe much of that can be attributed to this program. I can honestly say that Bizzy Girls has been an investment in her future.

Before meeting Miss Haddon for my first session, I was pleased to find a very clean, comfortable space with kind, enthusiastic staff members. Miss Haddon warmly greeted me, and took the time to really listen and analyze how best to address my vocal needs. She used various therapies and techniques to allow my vocal chords to cease staining and become more relaxed. At each session, Miss Haddon asked how my voice felt the week prior, and she always had a new skill to introduce me to. After only 3 sessions, I was able to start singing a song of my choice without pain! Miss Haddon has a passion not only for music, but for her clients overall well-being.
