Ornate, luxurious, top notch service, everything you'd expect from a Ritz property…read more Lobby bar - A beautiful living room for hanging out during the day. We arrived at the Ritz too late for dinner anywhere but the lobby bar. Enjoyed several sushi rolls with drinks, each one imaginative fresh and tasty. But some event had recently let out and the lobby bar got crowded and LOUD. I mean over 100db loud (measured). That's the equivalent of enjoying sushi while jackhammers are crushing concrete all around you. Whoa! Ocean front one bedroom suite - Plush, large, comfortable. Curtains blocked most light, but the bright morning sun still peeked in around the edges. Comfortable bed and plenty cold for good sleeping. Two huge TVs. While the only premium feed provided is Netflix, the cable box had been lowered behind the TV in the living room such that it was simple to plug in your own device. If this is by design, kudos to the Ritz. If this was accidental, we feel very fortunate. Awesome to have a second half bath, wish that was an option at more hotels. The main bath, very roomy, with a huge dressing area, was a little odd in that, while there was a door to the toilet, there was no door to the tub/shower. Not a big deal, as it was around a corner providing a little privacy, it's still a weak design decision. Huge balcony with ocean front views that go on forever. A few chairs and a table, but a bit under furnished. Still quite a treat for the view, breeze and privacy. Never even slightly tempted to leave the property during our stay. Over a 4 night stay, we visited nearly every bar and restaurant option, and never felt like we were having to "make do". Pool - the kiddie pool was closed for renovations, so children took over the main pool all day. If you're not a tolerant direct parent, you're not gonna get in that water, if you know what I mean. Overall the pool and chairs were pretty crowded, so almost worth the premium to have rented a cabana for 8-2 one day. Lots more room and comfort, both lounge chairs and couch seating, TV, snacks and drinks.

In our experience, hotels usually designate "dog friendly" rooms that are often in undesirable locations of the hotel. We did not feel that way here. There were dogs everywhere! Prob just as many dogs as kids!!! Check in was a bit rough...our room was not ready till about an hour after check in time. We were exhausted from a short night of sleep and delayed plane ride --just wanted to get to our room. We had to check on the status twice. Not what we expected!! The second person we talked to was very friendly and apologetic. They said they would comp us for the trouble by reducing the daily charge but I never saw this on my bill. This was disappointing. I was surprised they said they would do that so maybe they tried but weren't allowed. Who knows! The rooms were fine - nothing fancy and a bit outdated. Everything was very clean tho. And the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the nice coffee station and fire table on our patio. The restaurants they have are pretty good. We really enjoyed getting room service - much easier with our pup. We stopped by the gym to fill up our water bottles and they have a great water station and fruit bowls. All of the staff we interacted with were lovely and friendly. They were happy to give us tips about the area and recommendations too. The location is unbeatable- right on the beach. We enjoyed morning walks to see the sunrise. And it's close to Fernandina Beach which was such a charming area. We would def stay here again!!!!

My sister and I were dressed in average bikinis for women in our early 20s (nothing too cheeky or revealing but skin was showing). Staff were very quick to politely tell us we were not up to dress code. The staff was polite about it, but the rule itself is old fashioned and not at all with the times. As a young woman its NEAR IMPOSSIBLE to find a quality modest bikini that doesnt show a little butt. Out of touch rules that disproportionately affect women. Very disappointing to see the sexist turn the ocean club has made.

At the resort there are acres of villas, a 3.5 mile strip of private beach and they are completing a second hotel by the end of 2012. The resort does offer a shuttle service so it is easy to get around the resort without jumping into your car. The resort provides many amenities including a spa, gym, hotel pool, restaurants, tennis courts, golf, a few shops. I used the spa during our visit and was disappointed at the lack of amenities at the spa. I was expecting to spend several hours at the spa, but there was no jacuzzi hot tub, steam room or dry sauna so once my spa service was finished I just showered and left. The spa should reduce their prices if they are not going to provide any of these typical spa amenities. I also worked out at the resort's fitness center during my stay. The gym was small, but had a decent selection of weight machines and the cardio equipment included built in tv sets. The locker room amenities were pretty much nonexistent so I ended up not showering in the locker room and took the shuttle back to my room so I could shower there instead. Overall, we had a nice and relaxing vacation and enjoyed being lazy and getting room service, but the area was just a little too quiet for my taste. I would only consider returning to the Amelia Island Plantation if they update and remodel the facilities on-site.

We even got there after their happy hour ended by a half hour, and without even asking, the front desk girl offered to get us a glass of wine, which we did do. And in contrast to another review, the red wine was good. Not top of the line, but definitely not gross. It was your average house wine from any upscale restaurant. The location was perfect for us. On the beach, easy access. They had beach chairs and umbrellas and beach towels if needed. The views from their deck are stellar. They also had enough parking. Also, there is an elevator from the parking area, so getting luggage to room is easy. Here's the only issue I had. When you book on their website, it clearly states what's included in your stay with your room. A few things listed are: breakfast, beach chairs/umbrellas, towels. HOWEVER, when I went to checkout and pay online, there is an 'AMENITY' fee! They describe this as a fee for the beach chairs and towels, etc. Please don't tell me it's included with the rental of my room, and then charge me for it at checkout. It now becomes NOT INCLUDED and I am in fact paying for it extra! I was really going between the 3 star review & the 4. I do not appreciate being deceived. I had spent a lot of time looking at where we wanted to stay, so at that point, I just went through with it and paid. Also, the only other confusing thing, is that I thought they had provided bfast there. They do have coffee (really good coffee btw). They also had pastries at bfast that they get from a local bakery. My husband had an apple danish type thing and he really enjoyed it. But they offer us a $30 voucher to one of two places in town for bfast. We chose the garden cafe. It was good. But of course you spend more than the $30 for basic bfast, oj & coffee. Would I go back? Most likely yes. Would I recommend to family & friends? Yes

The service here is wonderful! Employees here are amazing and super friendly. we also enjoyed eating breakfast here. Unfortunately, I am not able to say anything about the rooms on the main lodge since we did not stay there but booking the tradewinds is highly recommend.

Highly recommend if you're in the area and would definitely come back. Booking: Easy online booking. Had every room listed separately with their own photos, pricing and availability. Made is easy to pick the room you wanted. Only other thing that would have been good was to add maybe a blue print of the home with each room marked on it so you had a better visual to where your room was in regards to the main roads. Service: Pre-communication was great! Jamie contacted us via text to confirm the time of arrival and any food or allergy restrictions along with preferred breakfast time. Upon arriving, Todd greeted us and gave us the grand tour and answered any questions that we had. Happy hour was from 4 to 5 each day and we arrived right at four, so it was perfect timing to check in, drop off our things, and grab a free cocktail! Breakfast each morning was right on time and delicious. Recommendations for food and other surrounding activities was provided. Room: The bed and bedding was comfortable and all toiletries were provided. Size of the room was perfect. Our room overlooked the corner of the main street so traffic made it a little noisy so I would probably stay in a different room. Next time I come. However, earplugs were provided on your bedside table upon checking in. The only thing that could have made the room better is brighter lighting or some type of vanity for applying make up and doing your hair. The lighting in the bathroom was OK but not as well lit as you would need when getting ready for the day. Location: The location was ideal! We parked our car upon check-in, and did not get back in it until we left to go home. We walked everywhere.
