CHUMASH PARK in Agoura Hills, CA, is a lush green park complete with a playground, softball field,…read morepet waste stands, and public restrooms. The green space is so expansive that it's perfect for the summer concerts in the park! I love that the city and a handful of local sponsors, organize these events for us. Especially since Agoura Hills is ~35 miles away from the action in Inglewood. The free summer concerts are so convenient and entertaining! The variety of artists this year certainly covered the different age groups and made for a fun way to spend a few Sunday evenings...camped out on the lawn with our picnic baskets. Some days we even brought our dogs and opted for some treats from the food trucks. A huge thanks to the local sheriffs dept for patrolling the area and keeping the neighborhood safe! This park offers so much green space for the community to enjoy and it just makes my heart very happy!!

There are beautiful grassy areas to run around, and there's a cool path you can take to cross a little bridge if you want to take a short walk. We recently rented Pavilion A at Oak Canyon Community Park for our daughter's 4th birthday splash…read moreparty, specifically because of its proximity to the splash pad. The park itself is beautiful and clean, which is why we felt confident booking it for such an important celebration. Unfortunately, shortly after our event began, the splash pad stopped working and remained off for the duration of our rental. This was the main activity for approximately 20 children in attendance. While a park ranger attempted to assist, there was ultimately no resolution. What was especially disappointing was the lack of urgency and care from park staff. There was no real apology or effort to make the situation right. We had to go through hoops just to get someone on the phone, which was frustrating in the middle of hosting a children's party. If pavilions are being rented out for private events, you would expect someone to be readily available to assist renters when issues arise. Additionally, we were told at booking that Pavilion B was already reserved and that inflatables were only permitted in that space. However, Pavilion B remained empty the entire time. Had we known, we would have booked that pavilion or adjusted our plans to include a bounce house to make up for the loss of the splash pad. While the park grounds are well maintained, the lack of communication, unavailable amenity, and absence of real-time support made what should have been a joyful day unnecessarily stressful. I hope improvements are made so other families do not have a similar experience.
