I feel like I am a connoisseur at parks and playgrounds. I went here when it was Covid and haven't been back since. I like how this park is gated, plenty of parking, feels like just a nice hike away, and I do appreciate the shaded areas (it was over 90° today). I do like how there are private bathrooms with urinals and paper towels. There's also a lot of nice grass area as well. read more

Tucked within the "(thousand of) oaks forest" and a few hiking distance away from civilization is this oasis called "Old Meadow Park"! Very tranquil, somewhat isolated with lushes of greenery, and pocketful of picnic areas for many families to lounge around, relax and rejuvenate. It is also a kids friendly park. I believe, you may reserve for group events. Contact the local park ranger office for more detail. Have a nice relaxed expedition! read more

This is the cutest little park and all the employees here are so kind and patient and helpful. We have hosted many events here through school and our families always comment on how great the staff is and how the facility is clean and beautiful. We love Old Meadows! read more

This review is solely in reference to the magnificent landscapes and absolute beauty that make up the wonderful city of Thousand Oaks, California. Great park for photo opportunities. --------------------------------------------------- Back in November 2020, we decided to do a family photoshoot to capture some beautiful moments of a year we'd never forget. Our photographer friend picked Old Meadows Park for this particular shoot and we couldn't have picked a better location for the shots taken that are now proudly displayed on canvases in our home. Being a resident of Thousand Oaks for over 23 years now, I am still amazed by the parts of the city I still come across that have so much untapped serenity. On the day of the photoshoot, we drove through a residential neighborhood only to suddenly make our way down the long road that leads to this wonderful park surrounded by absolute nature. Once we parked, a variety of picturesque backdrops were available for us to choose and we utilized the different backgrounds to get all of the shots that we wanted. From the mighty Oak Trees that have such character and seem to tell their own story to the rustic and rural landscapes that make for the perfect background shot which seem to encompass everything that I love about this city. Other than the surrounding beauty from nature, this park has an area for children to play and of course lots of areas for photographers to capture that perfect picture. And apparently, we were not the only one that got the memo because I recall seeing multiple photographers with small groups of families all dressed up for their own family photoshoots. For those that live in or near Ventura County, I highly recommend this park for that next photoshoot with your loved ones. Recommend for Engagements photos, Maternity shoots, Graduation announcements or holiday family pictures. read more

This playground was amazing! Designed specifically as an inclusive playground and to promote sensory play, our kids had a great time. It was clean, bathrooms were accessible, and there were some different features that made it interesting! There were two areas with instruments, hammock-style swings, sand tables, equipment for younger kids and older kids. Just plain fun! read more

This park is absolutely amazing. It is probably best for under 10 but we all found things to do- kids and adults alike. There a lot of unusual pieces of equipment to keep kids occupied. There is a soft spongey cover under the equipment so kids don't have to worry about bark in their sandals. The whole Playground is fenced so you don't have to worry about little ones running off. Bathrooms are in an odd place-our of sight on the backside of a building away from the park. Easy parking. Very nicely maintained and clean. read more

Unspoken rule of mom, the best parks are the ones within walking or short car ride distance from your home. Well, here's the thing about this park. It is so amazing that I drive the FREEWAY for this park, I leave my HOMETOWN for this park! Are you clutching your pearls from the shock, because you totally should. This park is AMAZING. It's gated, has a soft rubbery ground flooring, tons of unique play equipment and actual honest to god clean bathrooms with changing tables! This is the holy grail of parks! The only downside is that it's filled with fancy moms who look cute so if you're like me and are rocking the homeless troll look when out with your children then step up your game here or thou shalt be judged. read more

If you are a mom of toddlers, this is the park for you. Bathrooms are close, there is plenty of shade and sunshine and the best of all... THIS PARK IS FENCED. Like, completely fenced in. So, yes.... you can chat with a friend and let your little one wander. Plenty of parking. Saturday mornings can get a bit busy. This park is a must visit! read more

Love the field here, always flat, not bumpy and very well maintained. There is also a hike path on the upper portion of Old Meadow Park, it's very scenic and if you continue to the top, you can see the whole of TO, just about. Hike very uphill, and very narrow trails however. Also it is free if you are wondering. Wish they had more amenities like a swing or a slide, or maybe a basketball court, like Oakbrook Park does (Northern TO, near Erbes(?)) but oh well. read more

This is by far the best park in the area. All enclosed area so kids can run wild! Tables for picnic, restrooms (which are clean and flush!!) and even a sandy area for play. The area is at the end of a dead end neighborhood street but keep going and you will be so happy you did! Enjoy the shade here too! read more

We love this park. It has great shade, clean bathrooms, it is fully gated, there are 2 round picnic tables and plenty of fun things to do for the kiddos. Some of the sensory stations are very unique and my son always seems to enjoy something different each time we go. There aren't very many swings (3 I think) but I have yet to see a line since there are so many other things to do. read more

Really nice and beautiful park. There is tons of parking and gives me peace of mind because the entire park is fenced in! It's 3x bigger than most of the parks in the area and offers a lot of developmental play throughout the playground. My 18month old is still a little too small to enjoy it fully but I think we will be making frequent visits here for years to come. read more

Specialties

The park includes a one-of-a-kind “Dreamcatcher Playground”, a disability-sensitive and interactive play area stimulating senses and abilities. The playground features many unique play pieces including “Playville” miniature village, elevated sand table, “Sand Works”, one back hoe digger, Tenor Marimba (a xylophone-like musical piece), Talking Bob, talking horns, a sign language panel and several sensory panels. The play area is surfaced with sand and rubber, providing accessibility to approximately 60% of the playground.

History

Established in 1968.

Beginning in 1966, W.A. and Janet Rothschild allowed Conejo Recreation and Park District to utilize the area known as Old Meadows Park under a license agreement, eventually giving the property to the District. Shortly thereafter, the District reconstructed the barn which was also donated by the Rothschilds and served as the District’s administrative offices and Old Meadows Center in 1968. Located among many gorgeous oak trees, six acres of this 31-acre property is developed and is now home to the Therapeutic Recreation Unit and the Conejo Valley Therapeutic Advisory Council (CVTAC). The Council, comprised of parents, professionals, and community members, meets monthly with staff to discuss and support programming for individuals with disabilities. New members are always welcome.

Unfortunately, shortly after our event began, the splash pad stopped working and remained off for the duration of our rental. This was the main activity for approximately 20 children in attendance. While a park ranger attempted to assist, there was ultimately no resolution. What was especially disappointing was the lack of urgency and care from park staff. There was no real apology or effort to make the situation right. We had to go through hoops just to get someone on the phone, which was frustrating in the middle of hosting a children's party. If pavilions are being rented out for private events, you would expect someone to be readily available to assist renters when issues arise. Additionally, we were told at booking that Pavilion B was already reserved and that inflatables were only permitted in that space. However, Pavilion B remained empty the entire time. Had we known, we would have booked that pavilion or adjusted our plans to include a bounce house to make up for the loss of the splash pad. While the park grounds are well maintained, the lack of communication, unavailable amenity, and absence of real-time support made what should have been a joyful day unnecessarily stressful. I hope improvements are made so other families do not have a similar experience.

The best part, though, is the ant hill that they build into the park. My kids love it because it is a literal hill that you use cardboard boxes to slide down. This was the highlight for them, and they spent most of their time just sliding down and having a blast with cardboard boxes. I live in North Hollywood, so this was a drive, but it was worth it so that my kids could have a blast, which they did. This park is at the top of our list!

We went during free swim time from 12-4pm and it was only $10 for ages 3 and up. There's a big shallow kiddie pool with water activities and then 2 water slides on the back side of the park. There's a rec pool that maybe goes to 4.5 ft depth so it's perfect for just enjoying the water when you can't lap swim because the pool is crowded. A large picnic table area can be found in the middle of the center too so you can being lunch and snacks too. There a larger Olympic size pool on the west end of the center that can be used for lap swimming so overall it's great for all ages and swimming levels. We're planning to be here quite a bit for the summer! There's also cabanas to change into and showers to rinse off before and after swimming.

This man has no conscience, no ethical compass, and does business dirty to make a profit. He is unhinged, condescending, and worships money over service, professionalism, and honesty. My child is autistic and is a Regional Center client. Lucile Cowle, also under Daland Swim School, said that they would create an account with a 3rd party payer so that they could be directly paid by the 3rd party vendor with the Lanterman Regional Center. I started communicating with Lucile Cowle Swim School on March 5, 2025. It is now July 2026 (16 months later), and I have finally been reimbursed after countless calls and emails. The only way that I was paid for adaptive swim lessons was to bypass LC completely, and Aveanna 3rd-party payers conducted a full investigation to unpack their numerous lies. Dealing with this unethical company was so traumatic and all-consuming. Aveanna had to create an internal memo to no longer deal with this company because they would often refuse to respond, say they already did without turning in the necessary paperwork, and they never responded to the Lanterman Regional Center. My Lanterman Regional Center worker constantly reached out to LC/Daland Swim School, and their statements about when they responded do not align with any of the paper trail. They have made it difficult at every turn. Read my reviews. I never posted a single negative review of a business before today. I have never posted a negative review even when the service or good wasn't great because I don't want to damage a business for having an off day. However, this took 16 months of my time, and the executive director, Tarrik Daou was so nasty, condescending, and more fearful of not covering his bases when too many outside parties (not me) came with financial questions than actually providing honest, reputable service or transparent, ethical accounting. I have a long paper trail that can back up every claim I have been as opposed to Lucile Cowle, who can't keep records or even finish setting up a business account for 8 months. This is step 1 of any financial accounting. I just can't in any good conscience recommend this awful institution or Tarrik's narcissistic personality as someone you want to deal with. Please. There are other reputable swim schools who won't lie to you. I don't call people liars easily; in fact, I literally never have before in any business review. I had to come up with a long paper trail and unravel his lies because he's such an expert gaslighter; you want to double and triple-check facts to make sure the accounting is done correctly. Please take your business elsewhere. There are swim schools that actually care about your kids, not just the money that comes with it. If your child has any special needs, please stay away. We recently rented Pavilion A at Oak Canyon Community Park for our daughter's 4th birthday splash…read moreparty, specifically because of its proximity to the splash pad. The park itself is beautiful and clean, which is why we felt confident booking it for such an important celebration. Unfortunately, shortly after our event began, the splash pad stopped working and remained off for the duration of our rental. This was the main activity for approximately 20 children in attendance. While a park ranger attempted to assist, there was ultimately no resolution. What was especially disappointing was the lack of urgency and care from park staff. There was no real apology or effort to make the situation right. We had to go through hoops just to get someone on the phone, which was frustrating in the middle of hosting a children's party. If pavilions are being rented out for private events, you would expect someone to be readily available to assist renters when issues arise. Additionally, we were told at booking that Pavilion B was already reserved and that inflatables were only permitted in that space. However, Pavilion B remained empty the entire time. Had we known, we would have booked that pavilion or adjusted our plans to include a bounce house to make up for the loss of the splash pad. While the park grounds are well maintained, the lack of communication, unavailable amenity, and absence of real-time support made what should have been a joyful day unnecessarily stressful. I hope improvements are made so other families do not have a similar experience.

There's nothing to keep kids and pets from running to the street. Bathrooms and a private parking lot are available.
