Excellent work. We recently moved to East Tn. I had my grandfather's standing ashtray which is over…read more100 years old. It had been painted either by hand or spray several times over the years. It was time to clean it up and go in the screened in porch. Taking to ABJ was a great choice. Miss Pam was wonderful to deal with. Quote was done on time. Once I approved it, it was ready ahead of time. It came out perfect. I can't thank them enough. Wonderful job.

I previously had ABJ blast and coat 5 different automotive parts. Other than taking much longer…read morethan most places, (3-5 weeks on average) I was fine with it as the staff was friendly, and the prices fair. A mistake. Then, the mask started slipping. I brought a custom exhaust header for them to do, and after 4 weeks I called just to get a checkup. It wasn't done, "okay well, maybe next week" I thought. 2 days later, they called and said it was ready. I assumed they had bumped it up as I was a good customer. Nope. When I installed the part the powder coat started coming off immediately. I could scratch it off with my fingernail. When the metal was exposed I saw that it hadn't been blasted, and they had coated semi-rusted metal. So what they had actually done, was after I called, they just threw powder on it and got it out the door. Stupidly, I looked past that. And 5 weeks ago I brought a engine block for them to do. I arranged for one of their blasters to pick it up that monday at ABJ and was told and assured he would pick it up, and that it could be blasted with no damage, and I was also told it could be powder coated with no damage. I dropped it off on a Saturday for the Monday pickup, and even brought it on a new engine stand so they could just roll it around and their blaster could load and move it more easily. The guy in the office that I had never seen before this, knew the blocks situation, the pickup time and date, and the color I wanted. I was told a week or less to blast it, and a "couple weeks" to powder coat it. Which I knew from experience meant 3-4 weeks. So, 4 and a half weeks later, (this Tuesday) I tried to call multiple times to get an update. No one answered the phone regardless of when I called. After trying two times today to reach them, I decided I'd drive over there. I'd had a bad feeling for weeks since neither their blaster or them ,had called me asking for money, and now nobody seemed to be picking up the phone. Turns out I must be related to Dionne Warwick, because I was right. When I arrived not only had the block not been touched, but nobody knew what was supposed to be done to it. Their blaster never picked it up, never called me to tell me, and ABJ let it sit there for a month after and never called. When I asked why nobody had called me, I was told by an older gentleman and the guy i usually dealt with (who now got angry and defensive) that "he didn't run the phones". Oh, did I mention this was shortly after both of them said they had seen it sitting there for weeks and "wondered why it hadn't been touched"? When I looked at them like they had brain worms, the one guy went to go call their blaster to get him to come get it. (without asking me mind you) I told him no. Why would I want to use their guy who had already messed up this badly? He got angry over that too, and walked off in a huff. No apology, no explanation, zero effort to make the situation right. The older gentleman, did help me load the block and empty my trunk to do so. (hadn't planned on this happening so I brought a sports car ha ha) You could tell he knew this wasn't the best situation, and was the only one that actually tried to make things right in any way. And as it turns out they couldn't have powder coated it anyway! I wish i had been told that 5 weeks ago when all this started. Or heck even 4 weeks ago when the block hadn't even been picked up as promised. I give them 2 stars on Google only because they had previously done good work, and the older gentleman did make a slight attempt. If not for that, 1 star, like here. Needless to say, I'm not going back. I'll make sure to let all my car club friends that use ABJ (on my recommendation) what happened as well. I'll probably have some fences to mend with them now. Do not give these people money. They are not only deceptive, and slower than other coaters, but they don't seem to have anyone that knows how to use a telephone, and the quality of the work is spotty at best. On top of that, they only care about their commercial customers, the little guy be damned. And business owners wonder why brick and mortar places are dying?
