So your time is best spent making cartoons of yourself like Captain America ? This one didn't listen, tried to tell him about the situation and that we didn't know the individuals but never listened. He was to busy playing Pokémon in his office . When asked who was the Crown attorney he wouldn't tell you. Only say it's not important. Waiting what?!?!?!? You have the right to know. This place is bad!!! This lawyer who told us he needed to be friended on social media. Or else ! What does that mean?? And then telling you if you don't comply he would tell the crown about you. What does that mean ?? He had the nerve to sit back in his chair and tell us he was the " White Johnny Cochran ". Like what ???? And then laughed. Very ineffective council. On our short first meeting with the lawyer, we explained the arrangement and that the buyer would be paying for the transaction cost. On our second, even shorter meeting to sign papers I asked if there was something I would have to pay and he surprised me with over $550 in fees. We discused, negotiated an arrangement and agreed on $408 charge, not ideal, but I accepted the pact. A week later a get a deduction of over $950 ... he fogot to mention all the OTHER hidden fees. I've been calling, emailing and trying to get refunded to the original agreement for months now. Still no luck. They never helped me, billed me for $300 and when I called to ask them what was up, they set my retainer fee to $3000. I asked if they would be able to take it from the lump sum afterwards, they declined. So basically i retained absolutely no service with the death of my father and they charged me $3300 and sent it off to the creditors not a week later. The junior lawyer who did this to me no longer works there, but they still have no interest in helping me in any way shape or form other than helping themselves to $3300 of my hard earned dollars.

Let me first add the caveats that no one is thrilled to a) get a divorce, or b) have to pay a…read morelawyer for a divorce. Nonetheless, as my now ex-spouse simply refused mediation I had no choice but to file for divorce. There were complicated custody issues stemming from the fact that my ex is a citizen of another country while our son remained here in my care. Given not only the international dimension of formalizing custody but, also, clear attempts by the other party to exhaust me through procedural chicanery, the case had the potential to become a costly uphill battle. I'm grateful to Scott for his help in getting the courts to rightfully grant me sole custody of my son with final decision making authority. There were a few other items related to a pension that I had been paying into, as well as, sole authority to apply for passports and other items that insured my and my son's full financial and legal autonomy from my ex. Like I said, no one is going to sing the praises of getting billed but I believe under the circumstances Scott was always earnest in pursuing the end goal and he achieved exactly that. It took 2.5 years for the final order in part due to the courts being closed over 2 summers. While Scott definitely covered his bases, he also clearly worked at a face pace, kept the cost relatively inexpensive. That is a total bonus given we are now a one income fam. I also appreciate that Scott is a younger lawyer and therefore more relatable than some grumpy old guy at a super expensive firm. I say he gets full partnership now!
